How The Sculpt Society Founder Megan Roup Sleeps At Night

As the founder of The Sculpt Society, Megan Roup gets asked about her wellness routine a lot. “I’m always like, ‘well, I really prioritize sleep.’ I don’t understand humans who can operate on five hours of sleep,” she says.

But now that the fitness founder is pregnant with her first child, her sleep routine is already having to be adjusted. “Pre pregnancy, I was a big advocate for CBD [for sleep] and I’ve honestly noticed such a difference with my sleep not being able to have my CBD at night,” Roup says.

We asked Roup how she’s dealing with the pregnancy insomnia, preventing stretch marks and prioritizing those last few months of pre-baby shuteye.

The pregnancy pillow I panic purchased

I’m a big stomach and back sleeper, which has been really difficult for me with pregnancy—in your second and third trimester you’re supposed to be on your side. My quality of sleep during the second trimester hasn’t been great because I’m uncomfortable in that position so I bought one of those cheesy pregnancy pillows off Amazon in a desperate move to try and cure this sleeping habit I’m in and that’s helped.

My pre-bed beverage

Magnesium has been a really big help for me now that I’m pregnant. The Nue Co. has a nice magnesium spray that you can spray on your skin. I also like to drink a magnesium powder drink with hot water two hours before bed.

My relaxing shower routine

Nécessaire has a beautiful body wash that I like in the shower. Fearless Mama has a really nice sugar scrub, which is great too in the shower.

My full body skincare essentials

I use the Elemis cleansing balm at night to take off my makeup and I always put a lip balm on—I really like Augustinus Bader.

After that my two main things are serum and body oil for my growing bump—I am determined to come out of this without a stretch mark. For serums, I’ve always been a big Estée Lauder fan. I love all of their serums.

Kora Organics has a really, really nice body oil, Summer Fridays just sent me their Babymoon Belly Balm and that’s nice. Fearless Mama has a gorgeous body oil that smells amazing. And then Esker has one I love.

The robe I cozy up in

I got my robe from Crate & Barrel. I love a fuzzy, fuzzy robe and they have a good selection.

The PJs I look forward to putting on

I think a good set of pajamas is important—like having something that you look forward to putting on that makes you feel put together and cute. I have a couple of sets from this company called Tommy Johns that are super, super soft and great pajamas.

The mattress that upgraded our bedroom

I went through a whole bed situation recently—we went with the avocado mattress, which we’re happy with. It’s organic and clean.

The sheet set I love

We use Brooklinen, which is great. We use their King size down pillows and their sheets as well as their duvet cover and we’ve been really, really happy with that.

What’s currently sitting on my nightstand

I usually have whatever book I’m reading. I just finished City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert. And now I’m reading Bringing Up Bébé, which is actually fantastic. It’s about an American who lives in Paris and she’s talking about how the French bring up their children a little bit differently and it’s enjoyable reading. I also have a water bottle and Seed probiotics—you’re supposed to take it on an empty stomach so I’ll have that next to me, just as a reminder for the morning.

I sleep better at night knowing…

That I have my workout outfit picked out so I’m ready for my morning The Sculpt Society IG live workout.
