Billie Eilish Just Went Platinum Blond, and It Looks Incredible

The worst artist in the world could draw a two-tone cartoon of Billie Eilish and everyone would know who it was. Her dark hair with a splash of neon green on top is her signature—the Gen Z punk answer to Ariana Grande’s ponytail or Harry Styles’s bushy mane. Except…it’s gone. It is no more. Yes, the unthinkable has happened: Billie Eilish made her hair all one color. And that color is platinum blond. 

Take all the time you need to process this information. The Grammy winner debuted her new look on Instagram, first posting a short video of herself popping into frame from below, tossing her hair back and then smiling at the camera. She’s got bangs, definitely a trim, and maybe a few layers. She’s also wearing a cardigan emblazoned with a G, big band/swing music is playing in the clip, and she seems to be on a soundstage. We’d guess she’s shooting a sock-hop-themed music video. The caption, “Did you guess correctly?” refers to her teasing a new color on her Instagram Stories.

In another Instagram post, captioned “pinch me,” Eilish gave us a clearer look at the new ’do, which is also in her profile picture.

Just an hour after she posted the picture, the comments were flooded with supportive messages and emoji.

In December, Eilish told fans she’d debut a new hair color after her documentary, The World’s a Little Blurry.

“It’ll be the end of the era,” she said. “I’m gonna give you a new era. I have announcements to make. I got some shit to put out. Anyway, it doesn’t matter. Leave me alone and let me live with my fucking hair that I’ve had for way too long.”
