Protecting your home when you go on holiday (Part 2)

In the last article we touched on what you can do to your home in preparation for going away on holiday. As discussed, this can give you reassurance that you have put safeguards in place to protect your property. Here are a few more things you should consider.

If you think about these precautions within plenty of time before you leave then you aren’t rushing around, which can often lead to forgetting to do something important, like telling your neighbours you are going away. This is helpful as they can keep an eye out for any suspicious activity going on near to your house.

Also, if you have any regular deliveries set up, like milk or a daily newspaper for example, then you should remember to inform the supplier that you are about to go on holiday and to refrain from leaving anything outside your property. The deliveries can soon build up and then it becomes obvious to a burglar that the house is unoccupied for the time being.

The best advice that can be offered is to simply make sure that the home still looks like it is inhabited. You can consider a number of effective preventative measures like getting a monitored home alarm installed.
