Lizzo always knows just what to say. On February 5, the “Truth Hurts” singer laid out some truths that actually don’t hurt at all. Her message to fans? If you love her, you have to love all of her—and you should expect the same for yourself.

“If you love me… you love all of me. You don’t get to pick and choose,” she captioned a video of herself posing naked for a photo shoot. She set the video to a snippet from a brand new track with lyrics to match her message. In the background, she sings, “If you love me, you love all of me, or none of me at all.”

She continued her caption, writing, “We should be unconditionally loving of one another, starting with being unconditionally loving to ourselves. Take a moment today and think about the conditions we hold so tightly to that keep us from the freedom of true love. Do you really wanna be so tightly wound? Free yourself in love. You deserve it.”

In a second post, she followed up the video with a photo from the same shoot, which she captioned, “Art.”

In August 2021, Lizzo called out online bullies in an emotional Instagram Live, posted in the wake of her “Rumors” music video with Cardi B. “It’s fatphobic, it’s racist, and it’s hurtful,” she said of the trolling she’s gotten throughout her career. “What I won’t accept is y’all doing this to Black women over and over and over again, especially us big Black girls.”

She added, “When we don’t fit into the box that you want to put us in, you just unleash hatred onto us. It’s not cool. I’m doing this shit for the big Black women in the future who just want to live their lives without being scrutinized or put into boxes.”

After going live, Lizzo took to Twitter encouraging her followers to love themselves, no matter what outside forces throw their way. “Loving yourself in a world that don’t love u back takes an incredible amount of self-awareness & a bullshit detector that can see through ass backwards societal standards,” she wrote. “If u managed to love yourself today I’m proud of u. If u haven’t, I’m still proud of u. This shits hard.”
