Jodie Foster Kissing Her Wife at the Golden Globes Had Everyone Cheering

On Sunday, February 28, Jodie Foster won a Golden Globe for best supporting actress for her work in The Mauritanian, a drama based on true events at the Guantanamo Bay prison. In her acceptance speech, Foster said, “Are you kidding me? I think you made a mistake. I’m a little speechless. I just never expected to ever be here again, and wow.”

Sitting on the couch in silk pajamas next to Foster was her wife, Alexandra Hedison, and their dog, Ziggy.

“I love my wife! Thank you, Alex, and Ziggy [the dog] and Aaron Rodgers,” she said. (More on that last bit later.)

She then kissed Hedison, which is both important and normal—because representation matters but society is also quickly normalizing LGBTQ+ relationships.

Foster and Hedison married in 2014 after a little over a year of dating. Hedison is a photographer and actor who appeared on The L Word. She was previously in a relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.

During her Cecil B. DeMille Award acceptance speech at the Globes in 2013, Foster said, “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age, in those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and coworkers and then gradually, proudly to everyone who knew her, to everyone she actually met. But now I’m told, apparently, that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance. and a primetime reality show.”

As for that Aaron Rodgers shout-out, People notes the Green Bay Packers player thanked Foster earlier this month while accepting an award for most valuable player from the NFL. (Rodgers is also the fiancé of Foster’s Mauritanian costar Shailene Woodley.)

People online loved Jodie Foster’s whole vibe at the Globes:

Oh, and Ziggy’s neck kerchief matches Foster’s outfit! Dead! Bye!
