Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson Say ‘I Do’ in the First Trailer for the Rom-Com ‘Marry Me’

Jennifer Lopez rom-coms are back, baby. Being robbed of an Oscar nomination for 2019’s Hustlers has not stopped the pop icon from returning to cinema.
Her latest film, Marry Me, is coming in February, and she stars opposite Owen Wilson. A trailer for it dropped on Thursday, November 18.
The film, directed by Kat Coiro and based on a graphic novel of the same name by Bobby Crosby, follows a world-famous pop star named Kat Valdez (J.Lo), who plans to marry her musician fiancé (Maluma) in front of a live concert audience. (Also: a live-stream of 20 million people. No pressure!) Unfortunately, Kat’s fiancé is caught cheating on her with her assistant right as the ceremony is about to happen. Enter Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson), a teacher and regular single dad who attends the concert in person. He’s holding a sign that says “Marry me?” and Kat decides to marry him.
Of course, the marriage is a little awkward at first, and everyone just expects it to end immediately. But Kat is set on making it work, which then leads to the married couple actually falling in love with each other (probably, based on the lessons we’ve learned from rom-coms our entire lives).

In addition to Jennifer Lopez, Maluma, and Owen Wilson, Marry Me stars Sarah Silverman, John Bradley (Sam from Game of Thrones!), Chloe Coleman, and Michelle Buteau. A rom-com dream team!
Marry Me was originally set to be released earlier this year but was delayed due to the pandemic. Now it will come to theaters on February 11, 2022, just in time for Valentine’s Day. We’re very much looking forward to the movie, but we’re also looking forward to the inevitable Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck content that we’ll get out of the press tour.
