Chrissy Teigen’s New Haircut Totally Looks Like ‘The Rachel’

Chrissy Teigen is closing out 2020 with a brand-new hairstyle. In a recent Instagram clip, she showed off her new vibe, courtesy of hairstylist Tracey Cunningham. “New hair who this, it’s me obviously i don’t get it. @traceycunningham1,” she wrote in the caption.

Let’s see what we have here: layers, feathering, and chunky, golden-blond highlights. Do these descriptors make you think of one of the most famous haircuts in modern history? Made popular by Jennifer Aniston, perhaps? Yes, it seems that Teigen has gotten an updated version of the Rachel, Aniston‘s iconic cut (by Chris McMillan) from early seasons of Friends and a staple of the ’90s.  

Was Teigen inspired by Taylor Swift‘s new song “Willow,” in which she says, “I come back stronger than a ’90s trend”? Maybe, but regardless, people in Teigen’s comments section are loving it. 

“Rachel Green vibes!!!!!!! LOVES IT!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” one person wrote. “Did you get The Rachel?! 😍” another said. “Giving me early 90s Rachel cut,” a third commenter weighed in. 

Chrissy Teigen and Tracey Cunningham haven’t revealed the inspiration for the new look yet, but we know Teigen is up to speed on all things pop culture, so there’s a good chance it actually was the Rachel. 

Selena Gomez sported a Rachel cut earlier this year (pre-quarantine, if you can imagine), and her hairstylist, Marissa Marino, revealed the details on Instagram. “Selena on @kellyclarksonshow today! It’s a great interview so be sure to watch! ✨ hair inspo was ‘The Rachel’ meets Goldie Hawn in First Wives Club,” Marino posted in early March. 

I’m dying to know Jennifer Aniston’s thoughts on this hairstyle’s coming back. The actor is now on Instagram, which means there’s a chance she could comment on Teigen’s post. Let it happen, internet gods. We need that friendship to happen!
