Chris Noth Responds to Kim Cattrall Calling Sarah Jessica Parker ‘Cruel’

When Kim Cattrall didn’t reprise her role in the Sex and the City revival, eyes turned to the previous rumored feud between her and costar Sarah Jessica Parker. Chris Noth, or “Mr. Big” as we’ve come to love him, has his own thoughts on the matter. In a December interview with The Guardian, he disputed the way Cattrall characterized Parker.

“I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what [Cattrall’s] thinking is, or her emotions,” Noth told The Guardian. “I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Cattrall’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close. I liked her, I thought she was marvelous in the show, and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable.”

In 2018, when Cattrall’s brother passed away, Sarah Jessica Parker posted condolences on Instagram. Cattrall was not happy with the comments, responding in her own post and calling Parker a hypocrite. (ICYMI, here’s a quick recap of the drama.)

“Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now,” Cattrall wrote on Instagram. “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend.”

In the show, Mr. Big may have a tumultuous relationship with Carrie (I mean, how many times was he running off to some new country without her?), but in real life, Chris Noth is very defensive of Parker.

“I just don’t like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that,” Noth said.

Will Sex and the City without Samantha be the same? In the trailer for the revival, we still get to see Charlotte and Miranda thriving, and of course Carrie and Big seem to be living it up in a lavish apartment. The reboot, titled And Just Like That…, will release on December 9 via HBO Max.
