Fans may be patiently waiting for an update on a potential Mamma Mia! 3 film, but Amanda Seyfried isn’t sitting idly by, dreaming of the Croatian coast. Instead, she’s busy on a press tour for her buzzy, critically acclaimed film, Mank (she plays 1930s Hollywood starlet Marion Davies), raising three-month-old son, Thomas, and three-year-old daughter, Nina, with husband Thomas Sadowski, and now, starring as the face of Lancôme’s new Clarifique Dual Face Essence.
Understandably, Seyfried, 35, is gravitating toward time-saving tricks and prioritizing skin care over full glam. (These days, Seyfried tells Glamour that it’s a win just to have clean, smooth hair that doesn’t have “spit-up caught in it.”) It’s also one of the main reasons she’s excited to talk about Lancôme’s latest release.
“I love the smell, the texture, and the way it feels on my skin,” she tells us. “It’s effortless.” Seyfried also says the bi-phase essence, which is formulated with beech bud extract and a glycolic acid complex, also acts as a gentle exfoliator that leaves her skin “radiant and clean afterward.”
What’s one beauty trend you’re obsessed with right now?
Growing my eyebrows out. I over-plucked in high school, and I’ve only just now recovered my natural shape. Natural is usually best, I think.
What’s one beauty rule you swear by?
Less is more, which is what my mom has always told me. My own rule is little to no foundation and some concealer in spots. It makes a difference without covering your entire face.
Fill in the blank: “I love my hair…”
Right after it’s been washed. It feels clean, smooth, and strong. It also hasn’t had a chance to get spit-up caught in it.
What city or country gives you the greatest beauty inspiration?
Paris makes me feel adventurous with my style. I always take something home with me like a hat I’ve never worn or I start wearing a different shade of lipstick.
You can only use three products for the rest of your life. What are they and why?
Lancôme Idôle lash-lifting and volumizing mascara because my eyelashes are very blonde and it enhances the shape of my eyes. Then Lancôme’s Genifique serum because my skin is as moisturized as it’s ever been since I started using it. And finally, Eu’Genia shea butter because my body soaks up this thick butter and keeps my skin young—I think.
