Adele Officially Announced Her New Album, ’30,’ and Revealed the Release Date

Hello, it’s a new Adele album.

It’s been 84 years, and we’re finally getting a new Adele album. Okay, that’s dramatic. It’s only been six years since 25 came out in 2015, but it’s felt like a lifetime. We’ve been through so much since 2015, and without any new Adele music to get us through it.

Adele shared the news on Instagram Wednesday, October 13. Her fourth album, 30, comes out on November 19, 2021.

Although this album has been teased and predicted for some time, this is the first official announcement. Her first single, “Easy on Me,” is set to drop on October 15. She gave a little preview of it on Instagram Live October 9.

And according to that IG Live, 30 is an album about divorce, or as she put it, “Divorce, babe. Divorce.” (Adele’s divorce from Simon Konecki was finalized in 2021.)

“I was certainly nowhere near where I’d hoped to be when I first started it nearly 3 years ago. Quite the opposite actually,” Adele wrote on Instagram about the album. “I rely on routine and consistency to feel safe, I always have. And yet there I was knowingly – willingly even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil!”

She continued, “I’ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way. I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones. I discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like I’ve finally found my feeling again. I’d go as far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life. And so, I’m ready to finally put this album out.”

“It’s sensitive for me, this record, just in how much I love it,” Adele told Vogue about the new music. “I always say that 21 doesn’t belong to me anymore. Everyone else took it into their hearts so much. I’m not letting go of this one. This is my album. I want to share myself with everyone, but I don’t think I’ll ever let this one go.”
