Jennifer Aniston’s Friends character, Rachel Green, is a bona fide style icon. From her baby tees and plaid skirts to baggy-in-the-best-way jeans, the character embodied the effortless cool that makes ’90s fashion so appealing, even 20-plus years later. When it comes to beauty, of course Aniston’s iconic “Rachel” haircut gets all the shine, but thanks to Tiktok, her perfect bricky-brown lipstick is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
A video from beauty journalist Laura Capon, in which she discusses a recent interview she did with Friends lead makeup artist Robin Siegel, has recently made the rounds on the app.
Capon shares that Siegel used MAC’s classic lip pencil in Spice on Aniston, and paired it with the brand’s lipstick in Touch. The browny-nude Spice has been a best seller for MAC since the ’90s, and has had a massive revival in recent years—back in 2015, Kylie Jenner caused a shortage of it by revealing it was her favorite shade. Touch is a similarly warm-toned neutral brown shade, with a bit of a natural sheen.
In 2017, Aniston told Glamour that she would also wear MAC’s lipstick in Paramount during filming. “It was a browny brick. I remember that was my go-to color when I was doing Friends,” she said. Paramount is a similar shade to Touch, but a bit darker, with a true ’90s matte finish.
Capon didn’t stop with Rachel. She also revealed Pheobe’s and Monica’s signature lip shades as well. For Courteney Cox, Siegel used MAC’s Spice it Up, which is a dark red that veers into cranberry territory.
When it came to Lisa Kudrow’s makeup look, Siegel opted for a lighter touch and went with a true nude shade. Apparently the exact shade she used has been discontinued, but she says Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk is a close dupe for the shade.
Shop the shades below, and cross your fingers they arrive in time for the Friends reunion later this week.
