Tiffany Haddish Was ‘Disappointed’ By Common’s Breakup Statements: ‘That’s Not What You Told Me’

There are two sides to every story, but maybe check with your ex before going public with yours? Actor and comedian Tiffany Haddish recently revealed that she was a bit surprised by Common’s words and actions after their November split.

Earlier this month, the rapper appeared on Fox Soul’s Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored with Jason Lee and addressed the breakup, chalking it up to busy work schedules and two people who are committed to their craft. He said he only had positive feelings about Haddish, but that given their many commitments, they mutually decided it wasn’t working.

However, Haddish told Lee in her own recent Unlocked Uncensored interview that she was taken aback by his interview and comments. “I was disappointed. I was very disappointed,” she said, per ET Online. “I was like, ‘Oh, OK. ‘Cause that’s not what you told me, but OK.” She also noted that she had to find out from her publicist that the breakup was going to be made public in November, but isn’t hurt about the breakup itself.

“I miss him,” she added. “I miss him from time to time, but that’s with, I think, any intimate relationship that you might have, you miss them. But I’m fine with it. It’s cool.”

The pair revealed they were seeing each other back in August 2020 after meeting on the set of The Kitchen. Nearly a year later, they called it quits. “They are never in the same city together and both of them are just too busy for a serious relationship,” a source told People on November 29.

Tiffany Haddish previously revealed that she turned down Common’s advances at first due to his previous relationships. “He was, like, tryna holler, and I was like…‘Um…no, I’m not really interested. I’m good. My eyes are set on other things. I’m interested in somebody else. I’m sorry. But you seem like a nice person,’” she joked on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert back in February.

“‘I know too many people that dated you, let’s be honest,’” she said at the time, likely referencing Common’s previous relationships with Erykah Badu, Taraji P. Henson, and Serena Williams. “I didn’t say that, though. You know. You know.”

Now, the Girls Trip star has her own theory about the breakup. “He might be the type of person that never really settles with somebody, maybe he’s like, you know, like a bee going from flower to flower to flower,” she also said on Unlocked Uncensored, per ET Online. “I don’t know. I wish him nothing but joy and happiness, you know. He will always be cool.”
