This Video of Blue Ivy Carter’s Fire Dance Moves Confirms She Takes After Beyoncé

Grammy-nominated music video star, singer, and now dancer Blue Ivy Carter seems to have inherited all her famous family’s talents. The eldest daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z was caught busting a move during dance class by her grandmother, Tina Lawson, who posted a short video of the young performer on Instagram. (It’s unclear when the video was shot.) “Thi[s] is Blue but I swear it looks like Solange dancing at this age ❤️,” she wrote.
Lawson, who is Beyoncé and Solange’s mom, helped shepherd the girl group Destiny’s Child to stardom (while designing their outfits) and can certainly spot early talent. In this case its pretty obvious: While the other kids are hopping around in ballerina outfits, Blue is decidedly on beat and checking herself in the mirror. This kid may be only eight years old, but she came to dance, not mess around!
In addition to working on projects with her parents, Blue has been using her talents and voice (literally) in other ways, like narrating the book version of Matthew Cherry’s award-winning short film Hair Love.
In November 2020, Beyoncé revealed how Blue Ivy has reacted to months of pandemic and protest, explaining that she’s a very engaged young woman. “Blue is very smart, and she is aware that there is a shift, but it is my job as a parent to do my best to keep her world as positive and safe as can be for an eight-year-old,” she told British Vogue. “I let my children know that they are never too young to contribute to changing the world…. Blue saw some of the reactions to the ‘Brown Skin Girl’ video, as well as some of the videos from the philanthropic work I’ve done this year. When I tell her I’m proud of her, she tells me that she’s proud of me and that I’m doing a good job. It’s teeeeeew much sweetness. She melts my heart. I believe the best way to teach them is to be the example.”
