The $9 Foundation Storm Reid Can’t Live Without

If you could change one thing about beauty perceptions, what would it be?

Oh, that’s a loaded question. But I think the world as a whole, whether it’s the entertainment industry, the beauty space, or whatever the case may be, I think beauty should be inclusive and it shouldn’t just be catered to a certain thing, or a certain person, or a certain situation because we’re all different. We’re all unique and have different individuality. So to be able to accept that, know that, and feel good about being different is really cool.

You can only use three products for the rest of your life. What do you pick?

Moisturizer, because your face just can’t be dry, so you have to have some moisturizer. Also the Colossal mascara from Maybelline, because my eyes need to be poppin’. And then my lips can’t be dry. So whether that’s just like a simple Chapstick or Vaseline or a lip gloss, those are my three staples.

What’s your favorite moisturizer?

I use really simple products and really accessible products. That’s why I love CeraVe—its moisturizers are really great. They have a nighttime moisturizer that’s thicker, but my skin is typically really dry, so I don’t use it in the night time, I use it in the morning that way I stay moisturized all day.

What’s your favorite way to take a moment for yourself?

I think that’s ever-changing. It could be being in my room and turning my phone off and not responding to anybody. It could be listening to music. It could be with my friends and my family. But I’m just trying to define what self-care means for me. Sometimes that means you need to take a nap. I do love a good nap.

What’s your favorite emoji?

The red heart, but not the generic original red heart. I’m talking about the one that is matte. I just feel like it’s more elegant and chic. It just looks really pretty to me.

What’s your favorite getting-ready music?

I think anything Beyoncé. I think if you put on a Beyoncé playlist, you’re bound to move. So if I want to move, if I want to get hyped on set or if I just need a pick me up, Beyoncé is coming on and I feel better about myself.

Who are the women inspiring you the most right now?

There are so many women in my life, like my mom, my two sisters, my aunts, and my adopted aunties, as I call them, like Ms. Ava and Ms. Oprah and the people who continuously pour into me. As for my peers, it’s Zendaya and so many other amazing humans that really give me hope and inspire me. They just continuously lift me up and empower me.
