Selena Gomez Has Mermaid Hair Down to Her Waist Now

More like Sleek-ena

Selena Gomez’s new hairstyle is long, straight, shiny, and…did we mention long? Because it’s long. Very long.

Though she rocks a bouncy mid-cut in her new Hulu series Only Murders in the Building, the actor’s IRL look is a bit more sophisticated, and dare we say, mermaid-y.

Appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert alongside her costars Martin Short and Steve Martin, Gomez debuted a super-sleek style, perfect center part, and face-framing side bangs that gradually layer all the way down past her chest. Her dark chocolate brown locks eventually reach her mid-section, which must be a pain in the ass to dry after a shower–but it looks so good.

Gomez was every inch the sophisticate during her appearance, pairing a black skirt and black cardigan with bright red lips. No summer colors here; it’s all fall NYC classic. The Rare Beauty founder was also spotted holding a white handbag that held, we assume, lipstick for touch-ups and a magnifying glass for solving crimes.

Selena Gomez recently opened up to Glamour about the thrill and challenge of working alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short on Only Murders. “Keeping up with Steve and Marty is…a lot,” she said. “It’s great, but you want to make sure that you are living up to the expectation. I was surprised at the moments where I would improv and people would laugh because I’m not as good in that department as they are. So when I would do it, I was very timid. But when I would make Steve and Marty laugh, it was gold. I was like, ‘Yes! I did it right.’”

She also said that jumping on board the project was a quick and easy decision. “I had no hesitation. The writers had mentioned my name, so I met them via Zoom, and they explained the concept of the series, which I thought was brilliant,” she explained, noting she is a huge true crime fan in real life. “Plus, Steve and Marty are icons, legends. It was so much fun to be able to work with these comedic geniuses, and in such a time where humor is different, their humor is timeless and it’s crazy. I had a blast.”
