Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s Kids Will Be Celebrating Christmas Differently This Year

Like so many of us, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and their children will spend Christmas away from their loved ones this holiday season.

On December 19, Reynolds shared a bittersweet, but heartfelt message regarding how his family of five plans to celebrate the holidays this year as everyone is encouraged to stay home in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. Other celebrities, including the royal family, will likely have a low-key Christmas this year as well.

“My kids won’t see their grandparents this year for Christmas. Or friends or aunts and uncles,” Reynolds wrote on his Instagram Story. “It sucks. My hat’s off to so many others doing the same.”

The couple, who got married in September 2012 after meeting on the set of the film Green Lantern, share three daughters: five-year-old James, four-year-old Inez, and one-year-old Betty.

Last month, the Deadpool star opened up about being a father to three girls and what makes him the “ultimate” girl dad. “I come from all boys. I have three older brothers,” he told Access. “So for me to have three daughters has been such a ride and I love every second of it.”

Ryan Reynolds said that despite his and Lively’s busy schedules, his priority is trying to be as present as possible. He explained, “We don’t split up like I shoot movies and my wife shoots movies and we go travel all over the place and we just all go together.”

“I think that’s been the best part of it is that we really don’t spend a lot of time apart,” he continued. “I get to spend a lot of time with my girls.”

At the start of the pandemic, Reynolds also shared what it was like to quarantine in a house with all women. “I do not miss masculine company at all,” he told Stephen Colbert in April. “I like just being here with the girls. I like doing the girls’ stuff.”

Reynolds added, “This morning we made dresses out of tissue paper, which was fun for them. This is what we’re doing! We’re developing the skills that will take us into the new world.”
