Riverdale’s Phoebe Miu Drops Her Skin-Care Routine

Riverdale is back, and so are the outlandish antics fans have come to know and love. The CW drama also marks the return of Jessica, Jughead’s on-and-off girlfriend, played by actress Phoebe Miu.
“It’s going to be a pretty crazy second half of the season,” Miu tells Glamour. “Jessica gets caught up in the drama, and because Jughead goes through a lot of self-discovery, we’ll find out more about her relationship with him.”
It’s a fun transformation for Miu, who says Jessica is “a lot more glam” than her self-described bohemian-style. “I will go to work and will have no idea what I’m wearing,” she says with a laugh. “But I do love her fishnet stockings; those are a Jessica staple.”
Besides, Miu has been more focused on her skin-care routine this past year, noting that “it’s the one thing in my life that’s very consistent and regimented.” She doesn’t like introducing new products, instead preferring to focus on her tried-and-true staples. “I mainly use Youth to the People and Sunday Riley. They are killing it, and it’s important to for me to stick to cruelty-free brands.”
And as someone with combination skin, Miu appreciates that both product lines get the job done during the drier winter months as well as the more humid summer days. So while Jessica’s life on Riverdale might be all over the place, at least things are much simpler in Miu’s. Time for another installment of Glamour’s Drop the Routine.
My cleanser
I use the Youth to the People Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser. It’s like a salad for your face. It smells so good, and it’s nice and light and actually takes off my makeup. I also love that it’s in a glass bottle. You feel nice and grown up and fancy when you’re using it. [Laughs.]
My toner
Glow Recipe Watermelon Pore-Tight Toner. It also smells so good. I’m starting to see a pattern in the things I use for my face and my body in that it smells like something I want to eat. And it’s a gorgeous bottle as well.
My serums
I feel like Sunday Riley Good Genes makes my pores look smaller and makes me feel and look more refreshed. It makes me look super moisturized and glowy and plump in the morning. I use it every other night in the summer since skin is more sensitive to the sun when you’re using lactic acid, but I’m very diligent about it in the wintertime. I also use the Sunday Riley Vitamin C Brightening Serum every day. Vitamin C adds to the radiance and gives your skin a boost. It’s like sunshine for your face.
My moisturizer
The Youth to the People Superfood Air-Whip Moisturizer is really good for daytime. I also use Drunk Elephant’s D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops in my moisturizer every morning. It comes in a little dropper. And then at night, Youth to the People’s Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask is really good for an overnight mask.
My eye cream
I deal with dullness and dark circles. They run in my family, especially on my mom’s side. I use Sunday Riley’s Auto Correct Eye Cream; it is very good. It’s really lightweight, really effective. I will layer The Ordinary Caffeine Solution under it, and that’s my secret weapon. It’s for early days or sleepless nights. It really helps depuff my eyes.
My face mask
I use Youth to the People Resurfacing Energy Facial probably once or twice a week. I’ll put on a mask if I have to be on camera. I like going for masks that offer instant zings. This helps prep my skin for any occasion when I really need to brighten it up and look nice. It’s good rehabilitation for my skin when I’m wearing a lot of makeup days on end.
My sunscreens
BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Gel Cream SPF 30 is basically a tinted moisturizer with SPF, so I’m hitting two birds with one stone. And I use the Drunk Elephant Physical Daily Defense tinted sunscreen.
My lip balm
Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Kiss Lip Butter. It’s so good! And it’s big and thick! I just want to eat it. [Laughs.] It’s mid-to-heavy rich.
