Rams Player Van Jefferson’s Wife Went Into Labor in the Middle of the Super Bowl

Super Bowl LVI was the biggest night of 25-year-old Van Jefferson’s life. Not only did the wide receiver help the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl, but he also became a father of two.

After his team’s 23-20 victory over the Bengals on Sunday, February 13, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Van Jefferson skipped the ceremonies and headed straight to the hospital because his wife, Samaria Jefferson, went into labor during the game and was rushed to a local hospital. Van’s teammate Taylor Rapp also had a major life moment after the Super Bowl when he proposed to his girlfriend on the field.

Per The Athletic reporter Jourdan Rodrigue, Van Jefferson’s daughter and father joined him on the field, and then the trio raced through the locker room and out of the stadium to join Samaria in the hospital. Samaria previously told The Athletic that she was ready if their son and second child was born during the Super Bowl and stated that the child’s due date was February 17.

“Just like any other game, I’m going to be there this Sunday and I’m going to stay calm…and pray to God my water doesn’t break,” Samaria told The Athletic. “I am 100% going to be there. I would not miss this moment for anything. I will be 40 weeks pregnant at the Super Bowl, supporting my husband 100%.”

On Instagram Stories late Sunday night, Van shared a photo of himself holding his newborn son, with the caption “x2!!!!!”
