Prince William just broke his silence on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive Oprah Winfrey interview.

“We are very much not a racist family,” the Duke of Cambridge told a Sky News reporter on March 11, according to People.

When asked if he’d talked to Prince Harry yet, Prince William said, “No, I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will do.”

Markle and Prince Harry’s two-hour interview with Winfrey spanned several topics, including the racist treatment the Duchess of Sussex receives from British tabloids. Markle also says there were conversations from within the palace about the “potential” skin tone of her son, Archie.

“In those months when I was pregnant…[there were] concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born,” Markle said, to Winfrey’s palpable shock. When Winfrey asked who in the palace was having those conversations, she said, “I think that would be very damaging to them.”

Winfrey also asked Prince Harry about the topic, to which he said, “That conversation, I’m never going to share. But the timing was awkward; I was a bit shocked.”

The Duke of Sussex also briefly touched on the relationship with bis brother, telling Winfrey, “I love William to bits. He’s my brother; we’ve been through hell together, and have a shared experience. But we are on different paths.”

And on his father, Prince Charles, he said, “There’s a lot to work through there. I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like, and Archie’s his grandson. But at the same time, I will always love him. There’s a lot of hurt that’s happened, and I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship. They only know what they know, and that’s the thing: I’ve tried to educate them through the process I have been educated.”
