Porsha Williams Swears This $9 Lipstick Stays On All Day—Even Under a Mask

It is in this writer’s opinion that The Real Housewives of Atlanta has always outpaced the other cities’ shows. In every area that matters to fans of the Bravo franchise—drama, humor, moving storylines—the Georgia peaches never fail to deliver. But season 13, which premiered December 6, is extraordinary.

Filmed over the summer amid an all-consuming pandemic and a historic civil rights uprising against systematic racism, the franchise brings activism and racial injustice education seamlessly into the fold alongside the season’s other big storyline—a rumored sex party at Cynthia Bailey’s bachelorette weekend that’s been dubbed Stripper-Gate.

At the center is Porsha Williams. (Literally—Williams holds the central peach in the season’s intro, a coveted position among Housewives and a signal to the audience that she’s now the franchise lead.) In the premiere Williams shares how the devastating death of Breonna Taylor at the hands of police inspired her to become more involved and use her platform for social activism. By the episode’s end, Williams is arrested at a protest for Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky—a day, she tells us, that forever changed her.

“One of the main benefits for me to be able to use my voice is being that I have this platform,” Williams told Glamour recently over the phone. “And my heart was warm to know that Bravo wanted to include what we’re all going through as Americans right now into the show. It’s in the forefront, and that’s my main purpose: to keep it in the forefront, to keep bringing awareness to Breonna Taylor’s family, who hasn’t seen complete justice being served. It’s very, very important.”

Williams says all the major life events happening this summer helped bring the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta closer. “We have some great sisterly moments,” she says. “I feel like a lot of people decided to come in and be vulnerable and very open with what we’re going through. Our personal stories, for me, feel very genuine this season.”

Given that Porsha Williams is so open, we asked her to take part in our latest installment of Your Fave’s Faves. Here she shares what she’s buying everyone for the holidays this year, her beauty secrets, and more.

The gift I’m getting my daughter this Christmas

She’s so spoiled. My stepmom called me and said she was going to get Pilar a Pottery Barn kitchen, but I had already gotten her a kitchen. I guess I’m going to have two! To be honest, they look better than my own kitchen.

The gift I’m giving everyone else this year

I am gifting my Pampered by Porsha sheets! It just so happens to be the best gift, and it’s my company! So everybody will be pampering themselves after Christmas, because that’s what they will get—whatever color they want, whatever size they need.

My favorite holiday food

I’ll be buying some honey-baked ham. Over the holidays, there’s never any left! So I’m going to get two huge ones this year just so I can have for leftovers. It’s literally going to be hidden in the back of the refrigerator.

Something everyone should have on their shopping lists

My sister has her own mask line called Real Life Snacks. I always tell people they have to get them because they’re not super heavy, so you can wear two masks—you can put your N95 on underneath. Hers are very, very stylish, and you won’t forget it because you can keep it on your neck like a scarf. We can’t go anywhere or do anything without a mask, so why not wear one that’s stylish?

The last thing I bought

I bought an eyelash storage container that sits on my counter, because I have so many lashes. I get my makeup done every single day, and I’m one of those people who will rewear them, so I bought one. It’s life-changing, because they used to be all over the house. My daughter Pilar would be playing with them, or they’d be on the floor and I’d think it was a spider. Now they are on my counter all pretty in this nice clear storage container.

The beauty tip I’m telling everyone about

For right now, I recommend a matte lipstick. I cannot wear a regular gloss or lipstick because it’ll rub off on my mask. But matte—even throughout the day—stays. I like the Fenty or MAC matte lipsticks in red. We have to be out in public responsibly with our masks!

My signature fragrance

I wear Baccarat a lot. It’s one of those perfumes that stays on you all day, and it really goes well with my pheromones. I always get compliments on it. It never fails, someone’s going to ask me, “What are you wearing?” So it’s kind of become a signature. I’m ridiculous with the amount I use. Like, I just will spray it and then go and spray again. And then, next thing I know, I’m sitting there trying to do Dish Nation and I can’t breathe. I definitely am an oversprayer.

The best thing in my closet

Plain tank tops—I’m obsessed with them. Every single time my assistant is buying anything, I’m like, “Can you just grab some white tank tops?” I like the spaghetti-strap style made by BCBG. They’re perfect for when you’re home and have to Zoom here and there. You can layer, so if you don’t want to wear your top anymore because you get hot, you just take it off because you’ve got your tank top on. And it makes your boobs look nice.

My kitchen essentials

I have the Premadonna Air Fryer, which is amazing. My mom cooked chicken in it that was delicious—it turns out perfect every time. I also definitely recommend getting a proper frying pan to heat your kid’s food upon. I’m real big on not putting my daughter’s food in the microwave, so I have the perfect nonstick pan. It’s the easiest way to heat food up, and it’s really fast. Get you some good olive oil, and boom! You can heat anything up within a few minutes.

A new celebration drink

I always drink Hennessy, but the girls on Chat Room, the Bravo show that I’m on, mentioned eggnog. I’ve never had it before, so they told me to mix eggnog and Hennessy together. I’m looking forward to trying it!
