Paris Hilton Just Addressed Her Past ‘Differences’ With Ex-Friend, Lindsay Lohan

The group Paris Hilton describes as the “#HolyTrinity of the 2000s” is thriving in 2021.

During a recent episode of her podcast, This Is Paris, Hilton spoke about her November wedding to husband Carter Reum, which got the socialite thinking about her past friendships with Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears—and just how far the three of them have come since spending their early 20s partying and being chased by the paparazzi.

“I also just saw that Lindsay got engaged,” Hilton said, per Elle. “And I know we’ve had our differences in the past, but I just wanted to say congratulations to her and that I am genuinely very happy for her.”

While Hilton and Lohan were practically famous for their friendship in the early aughts, their relationship had a series of ups and downs for years. By 2019, Hilton seemingly confirmed that their friendship was firmly in past. During an interview on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Hilton to say three nice things about the Mean Girls star. Hilton responded, “beyond, lame, and embarrassing.”

“Back in the day we were friends, but she’s just one of those people I don’t really trust,” Hilton also told Cohen in 2018. “I only like to be around positive energy and good people.”

During the recent podcast episode, Hilton reflected further on their so-called feud. “In the 2000s, that’s what it was all about. They loved pitting women against each other. That was their thing,” Hilton said, per InStyle. “Every single tabloid cover would say, ‘So and so hates this person,’ ‘Feud,’ just causing more drama than there even was.”

Her own marriage has helped put things into perspective. “Things have happened but I’m an adult now,” she said. “I just realize that a lot of that was just being immature. Yes, there have been people that have hurt me, but I feel like now that I’m married and grown-up and starting this next phase in my life, I don’t want to have any of that negative energy.”

Now, Paris Hilton is “so happy” to see Britney Spears freed from her 13-year conservatorship, and hear of Lohan’s recent engagement to her fiancé, Bader Shammas. “You know, 15 years later, and just so much has happened in the past two weeks,” Paris Hilton said. “I got married, Britney got her freedom back and engaged, and then Lindsay just got engaged.”

She continued, “So I love just seeing how different our lives are now and just how much we’ve all grown up and just having love in our lives.”
