Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu is shaping up to be the next Big Little Lies

There are many reasons people are saying this. For one, its source material is written by Liane Moriarty, who authored Big Little Lies. The show also stars Nicole Kidman, who played Celeste in Big Little Lies to immense critical acclaim and an Emmy Award.

Also, the show itself has Big Little Lies DNA: high-stakes melodrama, twists and turns, an A-list cast, and a gripping mystery that’ll keep you hooked from episode to episode. The first trailer just dropped, and it’s good. Check it out for yourself, below.

So what all do we know about Nine Perfect Strangers? Read on, below.

The release date. Unknown. This new trailer just says “coming soon.”

The episode count. According to IMDb, we are getting eight. All episodes were directed by Jonathan Levine.

The plot. Based on Moriarty’s novel, Nine Perfect Strangers follows nine strangers as they set to destress at a wellness resort run by Kidman’s character. But of course, all is not what it seems. Read Variety’s description, below

Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort’s director Masha (Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine ‘perfect’ strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.”

The cast. To put it in one word: stacked. Nicole Kidman plays Masha; Melissa McCarthy plays Francis; Luke Evans plays Lars; Melvin Gregg plays Ben; Samara Weaving plays Jessica; Michael Shannon plays Napoleon; Asher Keddie plays Heather; Grace Van Patten plays Zoe Marconi; Manny Jacinto plays Yao; Tiffany Boone plays Delilah; Regina Hall plays Carmel; and Bobby Cannavale plays Tony.
