Michelle Obama Wrote the Sweetest Message to Barack for His 60th Birthday

Happy 6-0, Barack Obama! The former commander-in-chief got a special birthday shout-out from his wife, Michelle Obama, on Instagram. On August 4, the former first lady posted a goofy Obama family picture and wrote a loving caption about her partner of many decades.

“Of all of your accomplishments, I know that being a present, loving father to our girls tops them all,” wrote Mrs. Obama under a picture of herself, Barack, and their two daughters, Sasha and Malia. In the semi-candid moment, Barack gives Sasha “bunny ears,” while Malia makes a goofy face. Michelle looks stunning, as always, in a spaghetti strap halter top. Drop the skincare routine, Mich!

Wait, speaking of halters, remember when Michelle knit tops for her daughters during quarantine? We’d still like to see those. And is the one she’s wearing here also something she made? If so, the talent!

“Thank you for never letting the weight of the world get in the way of being a wonderful husband and father,” Michelle Obama continued, adding, “Happy 60th birthday, @BarackObama! 💕”

Especially post–White House, the Obamas have used Instagram to commemorate all their anniversaries and family birthdays. When Malia turned 23 earlier this summer, Barack and Michelle posted adorable throwback pictures, just like they did when Sasha turned 20 a month before.

For Barack’s birthday (60 certainly is a milestone), the family reportedly planned a bash at Martha’s Vineyard. However, they’ve scaled back amid COVID-19 Delta variant concerns. “Due to the new spread of the Delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends,” Obama’s spokesperson, Hannah Hankins, said in a statement on August 4, according to the New York Post. “He’s appreciative of others sending their birthday wishes from afar and looks forward to seeing people soon.”
