Mary J. Blige’s Hair and Makeup Artists Reveal Their Super Bowl Glam Secrets

Music legend Mary J. Blige was the queen of the Super Bowl halftime show on February 13. Blige performed alongside other legends in hip-hop and rap including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Anderson .Paak. Despite the vast array of hip-hop royalty gracing the stage, it was clear to all that Blige reigned supreme

And it wasn’t just about the music, though the Grammy-winning singer pulled out every stop while performing her hits “Family Affair” and “No More Drama.” But the fact that she did it all in a stunning white two-piece set with mirror leopard-print embellishments and matching boots? Iconic. And now we have some more details about Blige’s stunning glam as well.

Celebrity hairstylist Tym Wallace helped Mary J. Blige achieve her long, cascading blonde waves by using affordable products from brands including Carol’s Daughter, Tresemmé, and Tangle Teezer.

“To begin styling, I applied the Tresemmé One Step Texture 5-in-1 Texturizing Mist to the hair,” Wallace explains. “After that, I sprayed the hair section by section with the Tresemmé Total Volume Hairspray and used a one-and-a-half-inch flatiron and marcel curling iron, alternating waves. Once [the hair was] set and cooled off, I used my fingers to break up the waves. I then sprayed the Tresemmé Total Volume Hairspray. Next, I used Tangle Teezer’s The Ultimate Finisher brush, which has soft tips that glide through the hair, to create major volume, texture, and shine. I finished the look by spraying Tresemmé One Step Texture 5-in-1 Texturizing Mist in my hands and created little piecey-like texture.”
