The Oscars 2021 are, surprisingly, delivering on the style front. Despite the smaller red carpet and limited guest list, lewks were turned. And while the outfits were very good, the real winners were the beauty looks—red lipstick was back in full force and colorful eyeshadow is shaping up to be a break-out trend for spring. One of the most unexpected beauty looks of the night though, was Margot Robbie’s new bangs.
Paired with a simple low-ponytail, the actress debuted a pair of beachy, blunt bangs. While Robbie tends to switch up her hair to some degree, this is the first time she’s ventured into fringe territory. Paired with effortless texture, the style gives off classic Jane Birkin vibes. While there’s been no confirmation from her hairstylist if they’re real or clip-ins, they’re the perfect inspo for your next cut if you’re looking for something different.
Robbie wasn’t nominated for an award at the Oscars 2021, but she was attending as the producer of Promising Young Woman, which is up for Best icture. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie spoke about how how important uplifting female storytelling is to her.
“We never started a company to be a starring vehicle for me or to be a platform for me to chase my dreams,” she said. “It was really that we wanted to expand what female stories and female storytellers could do in this industry, and I don’t need to be onscreen for that to happen. But it’s a wonderful position to be in since my platform can also open some of those doors. And especially at the beginning, there were a lot of first- and second-time filmmakers that we wanted to work with, and you can’t get something greenlit without a bankable name attached and I’m so lucky to fall into that bracket [of bankable names]. But I’m not right for every role. I felt that way about Promising Young Woman.”
