Kylie Jenner Receives Backlash for Throwing Stormi a Lavish 3rd Birthday Party

Another day, another Kardashian-Jenner party in the middle of a pandemic. This time, Kylie Jenner is the one receiving backlash for throwing her daughter, Stormi Webster, a lavish third birthday party. Let’s look at what happened, shall we?

For starters, Jenner has always thrown over-the-top birthday parties for her daughter. Remember “Stormi World” in 2019?  But now that there’s a pandemic, people have stopped planning packed gatherings—both for their kids and themselves.

Well, except the Kardashian-Jenners. First, Kim Kardashian took her inner circle to a private island for her 40th birthday party. Then, there was a second b-day bash that looked even wilder. And now, Stormi’s festivities.

As revealed on her own Instagram Stories, Jenner’s fairytale-themed “Third Time’s a Charm” party is set up for a crowd. We can clearly see a table is set and treats are laid out for a large group of partiers. We even catch glimpses of the attendees in Jenner’s Stories, one of whom seems to be holding, not wearing, a face mask. Another has a cane. For further evidence this was a large gathering, see more pictures here. The whole affair is tone-deaf at best and potentially dangerous at worst.

The problem isn’t just that Kylie Jenner threw a large party in the middle of the pandemic. If we want to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she took as many precautions as possible…fine. But what I think makes this especially tone-deaf is she and her family are in Southern California, an epicenter of the pandemic. As recently as December 2020, hospitals in Los Angeles were completely out of ICU beds. The state only lifted its stay-at-home order and curfew last week, and counties where cases are surging are still supposed to be taking extra measures. The Los Angeles mayor’s office has designated the area one of “extreme risk” and issued an order against all non-essential travel. Cue the call-outs:

Anyway, wear a mask.
