Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Are Reportedly Splitting After 6 Years

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are reportedly close to divorcing after six years of marriage, according to several outlets.

Page Six reported on January 5 that Kardashian had hired divorce attorney Laura Wasser and the coupler are in settlement talks. “They are keeping it low-key but they are done,” a source told the publication, while People reported that the 40-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardaishians star is prepping for divorce. “[Kanye] knows that she’s done. She has had enough, and she told him she wants some space to figure out her future.”

Speculation that the famous couple was having issues always persisted, but came to a head after West appeared in Charleston, South Carolina on July 19 for a rally to advance his presidential run and made several comments about Kardashian and her family. Sources told People that Kardashian was “furious” over the comments, which included a personal anecdote about North.

Shortly after the rally, West, 43, posted a series of tweets that caught the world’s attention. “Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie get out because I cried about saving my daughters life yesterday,” he tweeted alongside several other messages, including, “Kriss [sic] and Kim call me now.”

Many jumped to West’s defense, citing that mental health issues may be the reason for his lengthy Twitter thread. The rapper has opened up about his mental health in the past. “I wouldn’t be able to explain that as much just because, you know, I’m not a doctor,” he told David Letterman in 2019. “I can just tell you what I’m feeling at the time, and I feel a heightened connection with the universe when I’m ramping up. It is a health issue. This—it’s like a sprained brain, like having a sprained ankle. And if someone has a sprained ankle, you’re not going to push on him more. With us, once our brain gets to a point of spraining, people do everything to make it worse.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West married in May 2014 and have four children together: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. They started dating in 2012 after having known each other for roughly eight years.
