Kate Winslet ‘Couldn’t Stop Crying’ While Reuniting With Leonardo DiCaprio After 3 Years Apart

Their! Hearts! Will! Go! On! Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have been besties since they co-starred in the 1997 classic, Titanic. However, Winslet revealed that she hadn’t seen her costar since before the coronavirus pandemic first hit—and their recent reunion was super emotional.

“I couldn’t stop crying,” the Mare of Easttown star said in a new interview with The Guardian. “I’ve known him for half my life! It’s not as if I’ve found myself in New York or he’s been in London and there’s been a chance to have dinner or grab a coffee and a catchup. We haven’t been able to leave our countries. Like so many friendships globally, we’ve missed each other because of Covid. He’s my friend, my really close friend. We’re bonded for life.” The two actors finally met up recently in Los Angeles after three years apart, per the article.

The pair, who also co-starred in the domestic drama Revolutionary Road, have been friends for over half their lives. Winslet, who is now 46 years old, reflected, “Do you know Leo just turned 47? I turned 21 on [Titanic], and Leo turned 22.”

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio share one of the most iconic and enduring friendships in Hollywood. On multiple occasions, Winslet has said that DiCaprio is like a brother to her. In 2017, they went on vacation to St. Tropez together. When Winslet got married in 2012, DiCaprio walked her down the aisle

Their friendship secret? No crushes. “Luckily, and this was the fortunate thing, we never fancied each other,” Winslet said in a 2017 interview. “I know that’s really annoying to hear, sorry. We really never did. So it did mean that we were able to have this…be able to tease each other, which we still do, which is really amazing.”

But if you still ‘ship Winslet and DiCaprio, it’s never a bad time for a Titanic re-watch. That movie holds up. Just uh, maybe skip Revolutionary Road. It’s good but tragic and far less romantic.
