Julia Roberts’s Daughter Just Made Her Red-Carpet Debut in a Rare Appearance

Welcome to the red carpet, Hazel Moder! The 16-year-old, daughter of Julia Roberts and Danny Moder, just made her first appearance at an industry event, and she chose the absolute most glamorous occasion to do so. On July 10, Roberts’s only daughter walked the Cannes red carpet alongside her father at the premiere of Sean Penn’s Flag Day. Her dad was the cinematographer on the film and, ultimately, Take Your Daughter to Work Day can be whenever you want. Especially when your work is a film festival in the south of France.

For the occasion, Hazel wore a yellow shirtdress and black Mary Janes, accessorized with a simple necklace. She pulled her hair back into a pony tail, and it looks like she left her face mostly makeup-free.

Roberts and Moder have been married since 2002. As Roberts maintains no public social media accounts and rarely offers interviews about her personal life, this is a rare glimpse at her family. And all we can tell from the pictures is that, dang, Hazel really looks like her dad!

But just for comparison’s sake, let’s take a look at Julia Roberts when she was around Hazel’s age (Julia’s about 18 in this picture and…just, ignore the haircut. It was the ’80s):

Yep, we see the resemblance!

Speaking of Roberts’s pre-motherhood life, it was recently revealed that she guest-starred on Friends because Matthew Perry kept flirting with her…via fax machine. The pair even dated after she made an iconic cameo as Chandler’s childhood schoolmate, though the relationship didn’t last long. Speaking about the casting, Friends executive producer Kevin Bright told The Hollywood Reporter, “Do you know the story of how we got her? Matthew asked her to be on the show. She wrote back to him, ‘Write me a paper on quantum physics, and I’ll do it.’ My understanding is that Matthew went away and wrote a paper and faxed it to her the next day.”

In those episodes Roberts played a woman who worked on movie sets which, actually, is where she met Moder. Anyway, what do you guys think Flag Day is about? Flags?
