Ireland Baldwin Defends Hailey and Justin After Fans Chant ‘Selena!’ at Met Gala

Y’all, please listen to Ireland Baldwin, and please let the Biebers live.

Regardless of your feelings about Justin and Hailey Bieber, they aren’t hurting anyone with their marriage, and they’ve been together for years. And furthermore: Bieber’s ex, Selena Gomez, has moved on, so her fanbase needs to follow suit.

But evidently they haven’t. Take this weird incident at the 2021 Met gala, for instance. The Biebers attended together, and while they were posing for pictures, “fans” of Gomez chanted “Selena!” at the couple.

The awkward moment was captured in a viral TikTok posted to a Bieber fan page, and caught the attention of Hailey’s cousin, Ireland Baldwin. “[Hailey and Justin are] one of the happiest and most in love couples I’ve ever gotten the chance to be around. They don’t care about [the chanting fans],” wrote Baldwin in the comments, per JustJared, adding a crying-laughing emoji just to punctuate how little A-listers care about the jeers of stans.

For their part, Mr. and Mrs. Bieber haven’t commented on the incident, instead opting to share fun and glamorous shots from the evening. In a video posted by Vogue and promoted by Hailey, the couple dances around and kisses, a far cry from any awkwardness on the red carpet.

Gomez also has tried to keep the peace. Shortly after the release of her song “Lose You to Love Me,” widely believed to be about Bieber, she told fans via social media, “I am so grateful for the response of the song. However, I will never stand for women tearing other women down. So please be kind to everyone…Please be kind, I don’t like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don’t do that.”

Newsflash, people, this couple is married, and yelling at them won’t change that. So just stop.
