Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have found the sweetest way to honor Princess Diana. March 14 is Mother’s Day in the U.K. and the Royal Family just revealed the family ritual for the first time.
Every year, according to a new Instagram post on the official @KensingtonRoyal account, George, Charlotte, and Louis make cards for their “Granny,” Princess Diana, and give them to their father, Prince William. The Duke of Cambridge and his brother, Prince Harry, lost their mom in 1997.
“This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again,” read the Instagram caption. “But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging.”
“Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William,” the post continued. “Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day.”
“Dear Granny Diana, Happy Happy mothers day,” seven-year-old Prince George wrote in his letter, which featured a lovely drawing of a landscape. “I love you very much and think of you always. Sending you lots of love.”
Meanwhile, five-year-old Princess Charlotte decorated a heart and wrote, “I am thinking of you on Mother’s Day. I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love.” Two-year-old Prince Louis decorated his own heart with plenty of insect stickers and wrote his name.
Of course, the little royals also honored their mom, Kate Middleton, this Mother’s Day. In a separate Instagram post, the Cambridges shared a cake baked by George, Charlotte, and Louis, which was served on a heart-shaped plate and decorated with colorful pipe cleaners. On a second slide is a sweet throwback photo of the Duchess with her mom, Carole Middleton.
“Celebrating two other special mothers today ❤️,” read the Instagram caption. “🎂 made by George, Charlotte and Louis.” Clearly, these kids have skills.
