First Lady Jill Biden Wore a Scrunchie While Shopping and People Felt So Seen

Spotted: Dr. Jill Biden wearing the most relatable hair look to make a comeback in the past year.

On February 12, the first lady posted a pic to Twitter of her latest secret errand to pick up some “Valentine’s treats” from The Sweet Lobby, a Black-owned bakery in Washington, DC. “Dropped by @TheSweetLobby earlier to pick up some Valentine’s treats for the weekend,” Biden tweeted. “Shhh – don’t tell Joe!”

If you thought the macarons were the only things that caught the people’s intentions, you obviously didn’t read the headline. Followers of the @FLOTUS account on Twitter couldn’t help but notice her blue scrunchie, which they felt was a refreshingly “normal” way to top off her look. Dr. Biden was also wearing a long pink coat, floral earrings, and a black mask, of course.

“So part of what I never realized I needed was a FLOTUS in a scrunchie,” one user replied. Their tweet received over four thousand likes.

“Dr. Biden with a scrunchie ponytail buying chocolate is the normal I need from my FLOTUS,” another user tweeted.

Other users were also appreciative of the fact that Dr. Biden wore her relatable outfit to purchase her and her husband President Joe Biden’s snacks from a Black-owned small business. “Today, Dr. Biden, the First Lady of the United States, was in my neighborhood supporting a great Black-owned small business,” one user tweeted. “Ya love to see it.”

Jill Biden is clearly a fan of the February holiday devoted to love. On February 12,  the first lady also decorated the White House lawn with giant Valentine’s Day hearts. The pink, red, and white hearts each bear sweet messages like “healing,” “courage,” and “peace.” She personally signed the “healing” heart, “Love, Jill.”

“I just wanted some joy,” Dr. Biden told reporters. “With the pandemic, just everybody’s feeling a little down. So it’s just a little joy. A little hope. That’s all.”
