Dolly Parton Saved Her 9-Year-Old Costar From Being Hit By a Car

Dolly Parton is continuing her campaign to be the superhero 2020 needs.

No, seriously: During a recent interview with Inside Edition, Talia Hill, Parton’s 9-year-old costar from Christmas on the Square, revealed the 74-year-old icon literally saved her life.

According to Hill, while filming the movie she was walking back from getting hot chocolate and was almost hit by a car. Thankfully, someone was there to pull her to safety just in time. “I looked up and it was Dolly Parton,” she said, per People. “I was like, surprised, I was like [gasp].”

Of course, Parton took the moment to make a quip. “And she’s like, ‘Well, I am an angel, you know,’” Hill shared. “Cause she plays an angel in the movie. And I was in shock. She hugged me and shook me and said, ‘I saved your life!'”

This is unrelated, but also important: Parton apparently smells amazing, too. As if you had any doubt about that. “When Dolly walked in she smelled like heaven,” Hill also told the outlet. “She greeted everyone even if you were a trashcan person. It was such a great feeling.”

So basically, Parton is a literal angel, a superhero, and a Christmas queen all in one person. Not only did Christmas on the Square recently drop on Netflix, but the film coincides with her brand new Christmas album, A Holly Dolly Christmas, which came out this October.

Parton has been serving the energy we desperately need all year long. Not only did she help fund one of the coronavirus vaccines, she took to YouTube once a week at the height of the pandemic to read to children. She also spoke out in support of Black Lives Matter amid ongoing protests.

Basically, all our New Year’s resolutions should be the same: Be more like Dolly Parton.
