Cole Sprouse Calls Out ‘Insane’ Fans That Reported a Photo of His Girlfriend to Instagram

Cole Sprouse is once again hitting back at fans who are a little too preoccupied with his love life.

On September 2, the Riverdale star shared on Instagram Stories that a post about his girlfriend Ari Fournier was reported for “violence and incitement.” This comes after Sprouse posted a loving birthday tribute to Fournier on August 28 featuring multiple snaps of the 23-year-old captioned, “Birthday girl gunna beat my ass for these. ❤️💋”

“These kids are insane,” he reportedly captioned a screenshot of the report notification, according to E! News.  Comments on the birthday tribute are now “limited.”

Cole Sprouse and Ari Fournier went Instagram official in July 2021 after being photographed together for a few months. “Time to piss off the 14yos again,” he reportedly captioned an Instagram story of the model at the time, per E! News.

These “kids” and “14yos” Sprouse seems to be referencing are likely fans still devoted to his Riverdale character Jughead Jones’ onscreen relationship with Betty Cooper, played by Lili Reinhart. This on-and-off ship gained serious popularity in the early seasons of the show thanks, in part, to Sprouse and Reinhart’s real-life chemistry. The actors dated for nearly three years until parting ways in 2020.

Sprouse confirmed their split in a candid Instagram tribute to Reinhart. “Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “What an incredible experience I had, I’ll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love. I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward. All I’ll say about it, anything else you hear doesn’t matter.”

Though many of Sprouse’s fans have made their negative opinions about his new relationship known, many others have come to his and Fournier’s defense in the comments of a previous photo. “Call y’all stop commenting “no” please? It’s his life and he’s happy,” one user replied. “Respect that please 🙏🏼.”

Another wrote, “before you start attacking them, here’s a small reminder: mind your own business pls.” That’s always good advice.
