Britney Spears Says Her Engagement to Sam Asghari Was ‘Way Overdue’ in New Thirst Trap Post

Britney Spears is celebrating her engagement by posting a thirst trap of her fiancé, Sam Asghari.

On September 13, one day after debuting her stunning engagement ring, Spears shared a photo of Ashghari from a Men’s Health photoshoot he did and reflected over her excitement. “Words can’t even say how shocked I am 💍 … geez although the asshole was way overdue,” she wrote in the caption of the image, which you can see here. “It was definitely worth the wait …. yes world … that beautiful fucking man in that picture is MINE 😍 !!! I’m so blessed it’s insane 🌹🌹🌹 !!!!”

They announced the big news on September 12 with another Instagram post. In the video, the pair silently show off the rock on Spears’s finger. “I can’t fucking believe it,” she wrote in the caption. “💍💍💍💍💍💍❣️!!!!!!”

“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love expressed to them,” Asghari’s manager Brandon Cohen shared in a statement, according to People, adding he is “proud to celebrate and confirm the engagement.”

Early in September, Britney Spears’s father, Jamie, filed a petition to end the conservatorship she’s been under for 13 years. It’s possible this is what prompted Asghari’s proposal.

“[Sam is] ready for marriage and kids with Britney and is serious about the relationship. She wants to take that next step and have that full life with him,” a source told People about Asghari. “As a couple they’ve hidden how they’ve really felt even from people close to them because they were anxious and scared, but now it’s all out there.”

Britney Spears met Sam Asghari in 2016 on the set of her music video for “Slumber Party.” Earlier this morning, the fitness model took to Instagram to address fan concerns that Spears may not request a prenup. 

“My phone exploded today! Thank you for the overwhelming love and congratulations,” he wrote in a cheeky Instagram Story. “We both love every single one of you! Thank you for your concern about the prenup! Of course we’re getting iron clad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”
