Blake Lively Wore Sneakers Under Her Gown on the Red Carpet for Ryan Reynolds’s New Movie
Blake Lively looked like a literal Barbie doll at the premiere of her husband Ryan Reynolds’s new movie, Free Guy, dressed in a shimmering pink gown and a long blonde ponytail. But while Barbie’s feet are at a permanent angle, Lively gave herself a more comfortable option, choosing classic Converse sneakers to complete the look.
She marked her postpandemic return to the red carpet in a sparkly Prabal Gurung number with cutouts that trailed on the floor. In the photos from the event, you can’t actually see what she’s got on underneath. But she revealed her little fashion secret on Instagram Stories, posting a picture of herself in the parking lot. She lifted up her hem to reveal the platform Chuck Taylors on her feet.
She also took to Stories to point out another detail fans might have missed: the Lorraine Schwartz diamonds woven into her ponytail. “Diamond Pony…that’s also my new stage name,” the Gossip Girl star joked.
She even had pretty, feminine details in her nail look, rocking a manicure with tiny sparkles and flowers. Lively’s longtime nail artist, Elle, told us, “We planned this look about a week ago after having multiple FaceTimes and sending each other mood boards back and forth. Blake had sent me pictures of the dress, which was a sequined Prabal Gurung, and she wanted a look that was sweet but edgy. We usually draw inspiration from the movie promos and try to match the theme, but this time we decided that didn’t work. We went off the dress instead, opting for pressed flowers paired with a more rock-and-roll style. I love that it was innocent with a wild edge, breaking away from what she usually does.”
Seems like that rock-and-roll edge is reflected in the choice of footwear too. Or is this another case of Blake Lively letting her daughter pick her ensemble? Either way, we love the unexpected mix.
