Adele Just Teased Her New Music, and Fans Are Melting Down

Hiatus is over everyone: New Adele music is coming, and soon.

On October 5, Adele announced “Easy On Me,” the lead single off her upcoming fourth album. We don’t have to wait long for the new song, either–it’ll be here on October 15. She dropped the news on Twitter after changing all her profile photos to a blue color.

She tweeted the song release date along with a 20-second black-and-white clip of what might be the song’s music video. In it, Adele drives down a country road in a pickup truck with sheet music flying out of the window. Oh, she’s gonna make us cry cry.

The teaser’s gentle piano notes alone show that, ironically, Adele is not going easy on us. And of course, fans are grabbing their tissue boxes in preparation. With Taylor Swift dropping her version of Red just under a month after Adele’s new single, we may be in for a sad girl autumn.

It’s been nearly five years since we had new Adele music. Her last original release was the single “Water Under the Bridge” back in 2016. Adele fans have been starving for new content, flooding her Instagram comments and asking, “Where’s the album?” Fear not, everyone. It’s on the way.

Adele’s reportedly been keeping busy during the music hiatus taking care of herself and spending time with her new boyfriend, Rich Paul. She subtly confirmed their relationship on Sunday, September 19, when she dropped a series of photos from an evening out.

Even with this new love in her life, her next album will reportedly center on heartbreak. Since she released 25, Adele has split from husband, Simon Konecki, with whom she shares one son. And of course, all that heartbreak will become fodder for her music. “We’re going to hear about her divorce,” a source that spoke with E! said, “and what she’s been going through.”
