Actor Natalie Desselle-Reid Has Passed Away at 53


Natalie Desselle-Reid has passed away at 53 years old, People reports

The actor, known for roles in classics like Cinderella and B.A.P.S., was battling colon cancer. 

“It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning from colon cancer,” reads a post from her official Instagram page. “She was a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife. Her diverse career touched so many and she will be loved forever. Naturally, we are grieving and processing this profound loss and we thank you in advance for respecting our privacy at this extremely difficult time.” 

Desselle-Reid is survived by her spouse, Leonard Reid, and her three children. 

Fans and former costars took to Twitter to offer their condolences, including Halle Berry, with whom she starred in B.A.P.S. “I’m in total shock… completely heartbroken. gonna need a minute. #RIP @NatalieDesselle,” she tweeted. 

Her For Your Love costar Holly Robinson Peete also posted some touching thoughts to Twitter. “Just absolutely decimated by this news,” she wrote. “Actress Natalie Desselle, a bright shining star, passed away this morning. I got to know her when my mom was managing her. She will be so missed…sending out prayers to her children and husband.” 

“R.I.P. Queen” started trending on Twitter, with messages from other costars, celebrities, and fans pouring in. “Just heard the passing of #NatalieDesselleReid,” actor Danielle Brooks wrote. “She was beyond kind and I’m grateful we were able to share a few conversations together. I stand on her shoulders, and I will make sure to always remind people of her legacy and contribution to this industry.” 

“Sending my love and condolences out to Natalie Desselle family,” Bow Wow wrote. “Had the pleasure of working with her on Tyler Perrys Madea Big Happy Family sending my love.”
