According to a source who recently spoke with People in December, Gigi Hadid has been leaning on her younger sister throughout the ordeal. “Gigi and Bella have grown closer since the Zayn and Yolanda incident,” the source said. “Bella has stuck by her side, as the situation has caused a lot of tension within the family.” 

The source continued by confirming previous reports that  Zayn and Gigi have broken up, but continue to co-parent their 15-month-old daughter, Khai. “Gigi is done with Zayn. She’s a really private person, so Bella has really been there to support her,” the source continued. “It’s been tough on all of them because they’re all so close. That’s her mom, but it’s still her baby’s father, even though their romantic relationship is over.”

They added, “This has not been easy on Gigi and has caused a lot of stress on relationships with her family.”

Back in October, a rep for Gigi told People, “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”

Bella Hadid’s latest Instagram Story may or may not shed some light on her thoughts amid her sister’s reported split from Zayn Malik.

On October 28, the supermodel posted—and then deleted—a quote from the Instagram account @mystics_truth. “I can do nothing for you but work on myself. You can do nothing for me but work on yourself,” the post read underneath an illustration of a naked woman sitting thoughtfully on the beach. (You can see Bella Hadid’s since-deleted story here.)

This post comes after allegations arose that Zayn struck the model’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, during an argument at Gigi Hadid and Zayn’s Pennsylvania home back in September while Gigi was away in Paris. On October 28, Zayn shared a Twitter statement about the altercation just before TMZ broke the news:

“As you all know, I am a private person, and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all the poke and pick apart. Anyone else still taking their daily little pandemic walk around the block? Because Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are, and they took their baby daughter, Khai, with them. On Thursday, March 25, the model and musician stepped out for some spring air in New York City and were photographed as a threesome for the first time. Khai, whose face her mother has been careful to keep obscured in pictures for privacy, is safely hidden from view in her covered stroller, but it’s still a sweet family image.

Gigi Hadid just revealed a new tattoo—and it looks like it matches her boyfriend Zayn Malik’s own ink. 

On February 4, the new mom revealed her “post-pregnancy skin routine” in a video for Vogue in honor of her recent cover. Around the 4:30 minute mark, as Hadid is blending her foundation into her hairline, a brown tattoo can be seen on her bicep.

The tattoo closely resembles a similar one on Malik’s wrist. According to People, the tattoo is of their daughter Khai’s name in Arabic.

Although baby Khai was born in September, the 25-year-old model held out on revealing her daughter’s name until January when she changed her Instagram bio to read “Khai’s mom.” 

The couple has yet to reveal photos of baby Khai’s face, but Gigi Hadid did open up to Vogue about her experience with natural childbirth. “There definitely was a point where I was like, ‘I wonder what it would be like with an epidural, how it would be different,’” she said in the recent interview. “My midwife looked at me and was like, ‘You’re doing it. No one can help you. You’re past the point of the epidural anyway, so you’d be pushing exactly the same way in a hospital bed.’”

While Hadid proudly described herself as an “animal woman” during the 14-hour labor, she said Malik felt “helpless” watching her in so much pain, likening his emotions to that of a male lion pacing outside of a cave while a lioness gives birth. 

“Z was like, ‘That’s how I felt! You feel so helpless to see the person you love in pain,’” Hadid recalled. “I know my mom and Zayn and Bella were proud of me, but at certain points, I saw each of them in terror. Afterward, Z and I looked at each other and were like, We can have some time before we do that again.”

Gigi Hadid is opening up about motherhood for the first time—and going into detail about her home-birth experience.

The 25-year-old model opened up to Vogue in a new interview about giving birth to her now six-month-old daughter, Khai, back in September. Due to the pandemic, Hadid opted for a natural home birth with her partner Zayn Malik, mother Yolanda Hadid, sister Bella Hadid, her assistant, and a local midwife by her side. 

They placed a blow-up bath in their bedroom in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Hadid told the publication that she “knew it was going to be the craziest pain in my life, but you have to surrender to it and be like, ‘This is what it is.’ I loved that.”

The model was in labor for 14 hours. “There definitely was a point where I was like, ‘I wonder what it would be like with an epidural, how it would be different,’” she continued. “My midwife looked at me and was like, ‘You’re doing it. Hadid added, “I know my mom and Zayn and Bella were proud of me, but at certain points, I saw each of them in terror. Afterward, Z and I looked at each other and were like, We can have some time before we do that again.”

Of course, Malik wasn’t actually helpless. In fact, he caught the baby. “It didn’t even click that she was out,” Hadid told Vogue. “I was so exhausted, and I looked up and he’s holding her. It was so cute.”

Hadid revealed the name subtly by updating her bio on Instagram with “Khai’s mom.” 

“Our baby girl is here, healthy and beautiful??,” Malik wrote on Instagram after Hadid gave birth. “to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together.”

Hadid posted a sweet message of her own. “Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love,” she wrote. Both Malik and Hadid included photos of their daughter’s tiny, cute hands. 

Gigi Hadid first announced in April 2020 that she and Malik were expecting. She kept most of the pregnancy updates to just friends and family, only offering the public a little bit of info. 

“I’m so grateful for the positive comments and the questions and want you to know that we’re all good and safe, and everything’s going great, and I love you guys,” Hadid said on Instagram Live about her pregnancy last year. “Obviously, I think a lot of people are confused why I’m not sharing more, but, like, I’m pregnant through a pandemic. Obviously, my pregnancy is not the most important thing going on in the world.”

She continued, “I have been taking a lot of pictures of my bump and sending it to friends and family, and it’s been really cute and exciting. I’m trying to document it well, because I’ve heard a lot of people say, ‘Make sure you don’t miss it.’ And I will be sharing stuff like that in the future. I just am not rushed to do it, and I feel like right now I just want to experience it…. I just don’t want to worry about waking up every day during my pregnancy and, like, worry about having to look cute or post something.”

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, who just welcomed their first child together in September 2020, clearly don’t need a ring to solidify their bond—but some fans do see a wedding in their near future. 

Thanks to a lyric in Malik’s new song, “When Love’s Around,” which was released on January 14, many Zigi stans are convinced the pair is secretly engaged or about to be. “But I need you in my life. Yeah, you could be my wife for real,” he sings. “Only takes a woman to show you what it means to love.”

Though that’s hardly an engagement announcement, a couple of Twitter users are taking it there. One asked, “I mean…IS HE PROPOSING THAT WAY?” 

Another chimed in, “I just listened to when love’s around and is zayn gonna propose to gigi????!!”

Earlier this month the model sparked engagement rumors after wearing a ring on what appeared to be her left ring finger. Rumors have spiraled from there. 

Even those who don’t think Malik’s lyrics hint at an engagement are sure the song is directed to Hadid. I mean, who else could it be about?

These days, you can’t just throw lyrics like, “You could be my wife for real” around. Ask Taylor Swift for proof. Following her own possible engagement ring sighting, fans went wild when she seemingly replaced some lyrics in her re-recording of “Love Story.”

When part of her new version of the song was released in a Ryan Reynolds commercial for Match.com back in December, Swifties were quick to point out that it sounded like Swift sang, “It’s a love story; baby just said yes” instead of, “It’s a love story; baby just say yes.” Not only that, but some believe they heard wedding bells added to the background of the song. 

None of this is to say these rumors and conspiracy theories are anything more than that, but one thing is abundantly clear. Pop stars are going to continue to release music inspired by their lives and emotions—and their fans are gonna speculate from there.
