And then at night, if I’m wearing makeup I like to remove it with a micellar water. La Roche-Posay has a really good one.

My serum

I usually only use one in the morning, especially because if I’m going to work, I’m going to be wearing a mask for a long period of time and I don’t like to layer too many things. I really like the Murad Vitamin C Plus Glycolic Brightening Serum. That’s because you get your antioxidants with the vitamin C, but it also harnesses the vitamin C pigment fighting properties with the glycolic acid. It’s a nice, all in one very lightweight serum that I use the morning.

My moisturizers

I tend to follow my vitamin C with the La Roche-Posay Double Repair. I actually use the one with SPF in the morning if I’m going to work, just because I’m really only seeing the sun during my commute. And then if it’s the weekend and I’m going to be out and about, I’ll layer Supergoop sunscreen on top of it.

At night I use either the same moisturizer or if I’ve been feeling pretty dry, I may use the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It’s a good mix of very hydrating, soothing on the skin, but not too heavy. It’s one of the newer things in my routine that I’ve been really happy with.

My mist

I love the Avène thermal mist. Mostly I’ll use it after makeup if I feel like my makeup’s looking a little too done and I want to look very natural and dewy. I’ll also use it sometimes throughout the day, especially if I’m working from home or I’m spending a lot of time indoors. Just to refresh my face if I feel like it’s very dry.

My retinol

At night, I keep it pretty simple. I do use a prescription grade retinoid. I use one that’s called Arazlo. I’m not really a spot treatment person, but if I get the occasional breakout, I use it as a spot treatment as well.

My eye cream

I’m lazy with it, but I do use an eye cream. It’s the Perricone High Potency Growth Factor Firming and Lifting Eye Serum.  I also use the Perricone neck cream, that’s one of my favorites.

My lip balm

I’m a big fan of the EOS line of lip balm, it’s fun and effective.

My in-office treatments

Botox is everyone’s favorite! I’ve been getting Botox since my mid-twenties. I usually do an office-grade chemical peel once a year, usually in the fall time when the skin gets very congested. And then lately I’ve been really into, because we’re talking about healthy aging, things that stimulate collagen production—microneedling, high frequency, Clear + Brilliant— those very low downtime procedures. I’m not a huge facial person, it’s mostly kind of diligence skincare routine and an in office procedure.

Monique Rodriguez Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/monique-rodriguez-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Tue, 15 Feb 2022 20:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/monique-rodriguez-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

If anyone knows good ingredients, it’s Monique Rodriguez. The Mielle Organics founder has built her hair and skin-care brand around natural products, taking a holistic approach to the way we see beauty. “Anytime I see an ingredient that’s trending that’s great for the body, I think about, What are the health benefits for the hair, skin, and scalp?” she tells Glamour. “Mielle is a brand that’s inspired by natural food products that are beneficial for the hair and skin as well.”

Mielle’s latest line, the Sea Moss Collection, is no exception. “Sea moss was an ingredient that was trending for the immune system,” Rodriguez says. “I started doing a little bit of more research in really understanding its benefits, where it’s derived from, and whether it could be beneficial for textured hair. Sea moss has magnesium, vitamin E, vitamin C, zinc, all of which are really great ingredients that can help promote hair growth and prevent shedding.”

That natural mindset goes beyond her company and into her own personal beauty routine. “My routine is very simple,” the self-proclaimed skin-care minimalist says. “It’s more of a maintenance routine. I like to stick to what works well. I’m not a product junkie per se, because I feel that you’ll never really understand what truly works if you’re switching from product to product. And if it works, why switch? So I stick with my basic products that I use.”

A steady and consistent routine has helped Rodriguez fight off her biggest skin-care concerns, from mascne to clogged pores. “I have to make sure that I am exfoliating because wearing these masks has caused my skin to break out,” she says. “I’ve been really adamant about exfoliating once a week, making sure I’m using my cleanser. I’m using a moisturizer before I put on the mask, and I’ve also switched to cotton masks so my skin can breathe.”

In another installment of Glamour‘s Drop the Routine, Rodriguez shares the product that keeps her skin clear and hydrated.

My cleanser

For my everyday cleanser I am using Eminence. It’s from a spa—my esthetician recommended it as a daily cleanser. I cleanse morning and night.

My moisturizer

I use the Mielle Moisturizing Facial Lotion with SPF. I love the Mielle moisturizer because I formulated it to be very lightweight. I don’t like my face to feel cakey or heavy. As soon as it touches your face, it absorbs in your face and has SPF protection. You can put it on before makeup and it doesn’t feel like it’s caking underneath.

Pomegranate & Honey Illuminating Face Lotion With SPF 15

My face mask

I actually have two face masks that I use. One is by Eminence and is a kale and vitamin C mask. It has a jelly consistency, and once you take it off your face, your face feels very supple, very smooth. I also use our Mielle activated charcoal mask. I use that as a deep-cleansing mask to remove dirt, oils, and impurities from my skin. I try to do that weekly.

Eminence Organic Skin Care Citrus Kale Potent C + E Masque

Pomegranate & Honey Hydrating Face Mask

My spot treatments

Acne patches—I’ll just put it over my blemishes and they blend in with your skin tone. What I like about those is that it actually pulls the bacteria and the pus out of that pimple and absorbs it without leaving any marks.

My face mist

I have a face mist by Eminence. It’s called a Stone Clay Facial Mist, and it hydrates and tones the skin. I’ll do that after I do my full skin-care routine. That’s the last step before I go.

Eminence Organic Skin Care Stone Crop Hydrating Mist

My lip balm

I use Burt’s Bees lip balm. It’s so smooth and not waxy. It makes my lips feel very soft.

My devices

Jade roller. I’ll use that after I apply all of my serums to increase the circulation to my skin and get the blood flowing.

Herbivore Jade De-Puffing Face Roller

My serums

For my toner I use the Mielle facial serum. I use that morning and night, and then I follow that up with our vitamin C serum. Vitamin C is the healing vitamin. Vitamin C and E. If you suffer from any hyperpigmentation or any dark spots from acne, it can help lighten up those spots and heal the skin that was affected by the acne.

Pomegranate & Honey Revitalizing Face Serum

Pomegranate & Honey Blend Vitamin C Under Eye Gel Drops

My body lotion

I am also very minimal when it comes to body lotions and body creams. I do use a body scrub. I’ll use that in the shower and I’ll try to do that every couple of days or so, but I don’t like very oily lotion. I don’t want my skin to be dry, but I don’t want to feel like I have loads and loads of oil sitting on my skin. I like lotions that quickly absorb in the skin. Right now I’ve been using Hempz body lotion. It absorbs very quickly and doesn’t feel like you have a thick layer of something sitting on top of your skin.

These Body Butters Will Instantly Hydrate Parched Skin https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/these-body-butters-will-instantly-hydrate-parched-skin.html Tue, 15 Feb 2022 19:12:59 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/these-body-butters-will-instantly-hydrate-parched-skin.html [ad_1]

If the swing between frigid outdoor temps and too-dry heaters is wreaking havoc on your skin, it’s time to consider adding the best body butters to your routine. Not only can these skin-care products help boost hydration and lock in moisture, but their smooth and velvety texture is ideal for nourishing skin during the winter months, when cold, dry air can cause excess flakiness and itchiness (and exacerbate sensitive skin conditions like eczema or keratosis pilaris).

While body lotions and oils are great for lightweight hydration throughout the year, sometimes skin needs an extra dose of protection to feel comfortable and smooth, which is where body butters come in. These are often packed with humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid to hold in moisture; emollients like jojoba, almond, olive, and avocado oil to keep skin soft and smooth. New York City-based board-certified dermatologist Hadley King, M.D. tells Glamour that most formulas are also rich in occlusives like mango, cocoa, and shea butter to lock in moisture. “Because of their thicker and richer properties, body butters provide a protective layer around the skin from environmental elements and act as a barrier to prevent moisture loss,” says cosmetic dermatologist Michele Green, M.D.

Most people can use body butters daily—the key, however, is to apply them “immediately after a bath or shower, before the skin is dry, to lock in moisture,” Dr. King says. Plus, thanks to their emollient and occlusive properties, body butters are a great choice for people with exceptionally dry skin. New York City-based dermatologist Diane Madfes, M.D., adds that certain calming formulas, like Tatcha’s Indigo Butter, which is packed with restorative botanicals like Japanese indigo, can also be helpful for soothing sensitive skin types.

Whether you’re looking for a whipped body butter to soften sandpaper skin or want a paraben-free formula infused with natural ingredients, scroll down to shop the best body butters and stave off winter dryness.

Glamour’s Whole Beauty Team Is Obsessed With This Jellyfish-Inspired Cream https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/glamours-whole-beauty-team-is-obsessed-with-this-jellyfish-inspired-cream.html Mon, 14 Feb 2022 16:56:17 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/glamours-whole-beauty-team-is-obsessed-with-this-jellyfish-inspired-cream.html [ad_1]

It’s rare that a single product has the whole Glamour office buzzing, but once the team got our hands on the new U Beauty Barrier Bioactive Treatment, the DMs came flooding in. I first bonded over the treatment with our managing commerce editor, who, despite having the polar opposite skin type from me (I’m classic combo and as acne-prone as they come, she’s dry and suffers from eczema) was just as obsessed with the product. Shortly after, I was recommending it to any staffer that came to me with skin-care concerns, including inflamed pimples, curious flaky patches, and general winter dullness, and each person loved it as much as the last.

The Barrier Treatment is the latest in Tina Craig’s (you may know her as @bagsnob on Instagram) ultracurated high-tech line, U Beauty. As a teen in California, Craig was a self-described sun worshipper and spent plenty of time laying out, damaging her skin in the process. She didn’t realize the harm she was causing until she was visiting family in Asia, and her grandma took her to a traditional Chinese acupuncturist, who covered her face in slime from the immortal jellyfish, a creature known for its ability to transdifferentiate, meaning it can revert its adult cells back to stem cells at any time.

At first Craig thought it was weird, but she started getting compliments on her skin, and it fascinated her ever since. Flash forward to now, when she wanted to create something as transformative as that slime she tried all those year ago, and the U Beauty Barrier Bioactive Treatment was born after over four years in the lab.

Luckily there’s no jellyfish actually in the product; the creature is just the inspiration for the treatment. Instead the thick cream—meant to be used a few times a week as the very last step in your routine—uses a mix of bioactive marine ingredients and skin-care staples like hyaluronic acid and vitamin B6 to deeply and quickly repair the skin barrier. As we know, the skin barrier is deeply connected to pretty much every skin issue in the book, so in turn it addresses redness, dryness, dullness, signs of aging, elasticity, and general skin stress. The brand’s signature Siren Capsule technology delivers the active ingredients only where your skin is damaged, to completely maximize the results.

I have extremely difficult skin that has only gotten increasingly hard to take care of over the past few months. I’m highly acne prone but not oily, and my skin is easily irritated. My derm recently sent me home with a bag full of retinol samples (on top of my usual Epiduo and Spironalactone combo) that has left my skin in shambles. My acne is showing no signs of slowing down, but now I’ve added flaking, peeling, and redness into the mix. I was about to cast off this treatment as a risk to break me out further, but after listening to Tina speak about it at an event, I had to give it a try. That was about three weeks ago, and I’ve used it almost every day since. In two days, my flakes were completely gone, and they haven’t come back since I incorporated the treatment into my routine. I’ve also noticed that my skin is generally calmer: I’m still breaking out but they aren’t as inflamed, and my foundation applies better in the morning. It doesn’t just look better; the winter tightness is gone, and it feels like bouncy baby skin. I’m always hesitant to recommend anything over $90, but given how dramatically this changed my skin in two days, I think it’s well worth the splurge.

It’s rare that an at-home product will actually deliver in-office results, but U Beauty’s newest drop is the real deal. Since I live in Los Angeles, hardly drink water, and have eczema, protecting my skin barrier is everything—but no product in my regimen ever been so restorative (and fast-acting) as this overnight mask. I saw results from this vitamin-packed, immortal-jellyfish-inspired formula after the very first night. It’s been three weeks of consistent use, and my skin has never looked better. The acne-pitted scars on my cheeks have drastically evened out, my overall leatherlike texture is smoothed, and my stubbornly dull skin actually appears luminous. It’s literal beauty sleep in a bottle.

I just started a new prescription tretinoin for my acne, and while it’s helping eliminate breakouts, it’s also really drying me out. This cream is like a moist hug (sounds gross, but trust me) for my parched skin that instantly hydrates and calms my face. It’s not heavy or greasy and doesn’t sit on top of skin; instead it melts in, leaving you with a cushiony complexion. I really piled it on and was amazed at how quickly it absorbs. It has a clean-smelling scent that I don’t mind and comes in minimalist packaging that looks cute on my nightstand.

I’m that person who is constantly griping about my physical appearance—my hair is too frizzy; my nose is too cartilage-y (yes, really); life would be better, I bet, if I were 5’8″ and not 5’3″—but my skin is one area that never gets a beating. In adulthood, it’s always been pretty consistently clear and even textured. That went out the window this winter, when I found myself faced with extreme dryness, pronounced signs of aging, under-the-skin breakouts, and generally a complexion I would categorize as “yikes.” When I saw the description of U Beauty’s The Barrier Treatment, I felt like it was talking directly to me. Made to “improve dull, dry, weathered-looking complexions while visibly fortifying the skin barrier for visibly smoother, healthier, revived skin in as little as one week” sounded remarkable, and I’m pleased to report that within just a few days, the overnight treatment has already targeted my extreme dryness. My skin looks noticeably hydrated and less sensitized, and the formula itself feels like a dream going on. Will continue!

The Best Body Lotions to Keep Dry Skin in Check https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-best-body-lotions-to-keep-dry-skin-in-check.html Wed, 09 Feb 2022 17:40:35 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-best-body-lotions-to-keep-dry-skin-in-check.html [ad_1]

Rough or flaky patches on the neck, itchy legs, elbows that could double as sandpaper—however uncomfortable skin might feel, the best body lotion for dry skin can come to the rescue. And it couldn’t be better timing, seeing as the colder months are prime time for skin dryness from head to toe. If you’re looking for something to blame, says New York City dermatologist David Kim, M.D., “our skin barrier is compromised in the wintertime.”

That compromised skin barrier can inadvertently trap you into a cycle of dryness, allowing what moisture does come in to slip out at faster rate (via a process called trans-epidermal water loss) and, as a result, remaining compromised. That’s the bad news. The good news? A dedicated formula can put your skin back on track. “Body lotions are essential to help replenish moisture, keep the skin feeling soft and smooth, and support the skin barrier, working to keep moisture in and external irritants out,” says Marisa Garshick, M.D., a dermatologist in New York City.

However, not all are created equal. The best body lotion for dry skin will deliver a strategic combo of ingredients to best moisturize skin—and, even better, keep it that way. “When it comes to body lotions, it’s important to look for products containing different types of moisturizers,” says Dr. Garshick. “These include humectants, such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid, which work to draw moisture in; emollients to help soften and smooth the skin, such as squalane, jojoba oil, and colloidal oatmeal; and occlusives, such as petrolatum and shea butter.”

Since the integrity of skin barrier is at the heart of dryness—basically, if the skin barrier isn’t happy, then no one is happy—ingredients designed for barrier repair, such as ceramides, fatty acids, and cholesterol, can also go a long way. In doing so, they can even help address skin barrier-related skin conditions, such as eczema.

Skin-care ingredients typically found in your average face moisturizer have also been popping up in body lotions; for instance, Dr. Garshick recommends formulas with retinol to address signs of aging, or niacinamide for dealing with discoloration. And, as in formulas designed for your face, some ingredients can make an appearance to address particular skin concerns. “Exfoliating acids, like glycolic or lactic acid, may help to eliminate dead skin to leave the skin feeling soft and smooth,” says Dr. Garshick. “Salicylic acid is also an exfoliating acid as well as a keratolytic, so it can be helpful for areas of thick, dead skin build-up, such as elbows and knees.” (Psst: That’s what makes salicylic acid a winner for those with keratosis pilaris.)

“Many people wait until the skin starts to feel dry to apply lotion, but it’s actually best to apply it before the dryness begins,” says Dr. Garshick. Also, aim to moisturize with a body lotion as soon as you towel off. “Apply it right out of the shower when your skin is still slightly wet to lock in all the moisture,” Dr. Kim says. Pro tip: Slather it everywhere—the backs of your legs and your upper arms don’t get a free pass from winter’s impact, so it’s worth making sure that, as with sunscreen, you don’t miss a spot.

Most importantly, just stick with it. “It’s all about finding the product you like and actually using it consistently,” says Dr. Kim. With that, consider these 19 formulas that will keep your skin soft and healthy straight through summer.

Julian Addo Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/julian-addo-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Tue, 08 Feb 2022 20:10:05 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/julian-addo-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

Julian Addo is a firm believer in products that work. It’s a simple thing to ask, but in today’s beauty landscape it’s hard to find quality over frills. This, paired with the fact that she didn’t feel there was truly a brand that understood natural hair, is what drove Addo to launch her brand Adwoa Beauty in 2017. With over 10 years of experience in the hair industry—as a stylist, salon owner and blogger, plus a career in banking—Addo was armed with the knowledge needed to create a brand that properly cares for not only curls, but all hair types. The line combines the best of nature and science to enhance customers’ unique textures, and the straightforward line is easy to use—each product has a clear purpose and place in your routine.

When it comes to skin care, Addo tries to keep a similarly streamlined POV. “I honestly try to keep it as simple as possible,” she tells Glamour. “Skin care can be a really confusing and cluttered space with regards to a product and all of the things on the market. The acids and all different ingredients can really damage your skin if you don’t know what you’re doing. So I’ve been using a lot of the same products since I was 16. I stick to the basics.”

For Addo however, the basics don’t just mean cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF. She’s a major fan of exfoliation—she uses a chemical exfoliant twice a day—and anything that promises to brighten. “My skin is prone to hyperpigmentation,” she says. “Obviously, I’m more melanated, and if I get a pimple, if I don’t touch it and it just goes away on it’s own, it still leaves a scar. So I’m always trying to brighten something on my face.”

So what exactly does she swear by? Read on for the exfoliators Addo’s been using for years, the best sheet mask on the market, and the moisturizer that makes her look like a shining star in another installment of Glamour’s Drop the Routine

My cleansers

For cleansers, I cleanse day and night. I have super-oily skin. In the daytime I’ll just use something very gentle. I like the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser; it does the job of just getting the night off of my skin, but not really stripping my skin, and helps it feel really moisturized. And then in the night time I’ll switch to something that gives me a little bit more work. I like  The Inkey List salicylic acid cleanser. And then I always follow with the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant—I have a lot of scarring that I’m trying to get rid of, so anything that brightens and exfoliates and removes scars, that’s what I’m going to buy.

Fresh Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash

My toners

For toner I’ve been really loving One Thing; it’s a Korean brand. It’s kind of like K-beauty’s version of The Ordinary, because it’s a great price point, and this is a very simple-one ingredient product.  I found it on Instagram a couple years ago, and I used the Centella Asiatica Extract; it helps, again, to fade scars. So after I cleanse my face, I’ll just add a little bit on the cotton ball and just kind of wipe it all over my face day and night. And that’s the only thing that I do for a toner.

My face mask

I don’t really use essence a lot unless I’m doing a face mask. If I’m doing one, I love Too Cool for School; it’s another K-beauty brand. I think their Egg Cream Mask is the best mask on the market. There’s no sheet mask that is superior, in my opinion. They give you so much essence in the packet, and I’ll do that twice a week, and I’ll put the essence all over my face and all over my neck. You don’t want to forget your neck!

My serum

I like the Rose Ingleton MD Complexion Brightening Booster Serum. It helps with brightening your complexion and scarring.

My exfoliators

A staple in my routine for forever is these two liquid exfoliators. One is uber popular Paula’s Choice 2% BHA. I love that in the daytime, it gives me a dewy glow. And then another cult favorite that I use at nighttime, which is a similar product, a little bit different, is the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50v 1970. I use both everyday, which I know surprises everyone! My skin can take a lot. I don’t really use anything specific for spot treatments, but that P50 really helps, I’ll put it on my skin if I have a breakout, and when I wake up in the morning, the breakout is no longer protruding.

My moisturizers

I use that P50 at night, so my skin is getting a lot of exfoliating. So I like to go in at night with something super, super heavy. And for the last several years I’ve been loving the Weleda Skin Food. I go to bed looking like a shining star. I’ll  plaster it all over my face, under my eyes, everywhere. And I’ll go to bed with that.

For day moisturizers I’m currently loving Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream. I alternate that and the Rose Ingleton MD Signature Moisturizer; I really love her moisturizer as well. I always use something lighter in the day, because I use that heavy Weleda Skin Food at night. So I just go for a light, light finish in the daytime. But I do pair it with the Flora + Bast Age Adapting Facial Serum with CBD. It says “serum,” but it’s an oil. I’ll put that on first, and then my moisturizer is last.

My eye cream

I really haven’t found an eye cream that I love. I was playing around with the Tatcha Peony Eye Cream, but I don’t know. I haven’t really found anything that I noticed a difference. I have dark sunken-in undereyes—I don’t have the puffiness. Mine is sunken in, and it’s hereditary. So I was told there’s nothing I can do about it besides Botox. I just make sure that that area is moisturized since it’s so thin. I’ll use the Weleda at night, to be honest.

My SPF

I love the Unseen Sunscreen from Supergoop. I love the brand, and I’ll use that daily because most days I’m not wearing any makeup. And then on some days that I want something a little bit more, I like the Tower 28 Beauty SunnyDays SPF tinted sunscreen, I really love that. If I just want to look a little bit more put-together that day, I’ll use that.

My lip balm

I’m obsessed over the Lanolips salves. All flavors—coconut, strawberry, I have them all! I do like the Laneige lip mask, and there’s also a lip mask by One Thing, that K-beauty brand that I use at night. Got to keep the lips moisturized!

My treatments

I have started going to an aesthetician for a lot of chemical peels and facials. Just something a little bit more and faster than all these products can do.

We Tried Everything From Dr. Dennis Gross, Here’s What’s Worth It https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/we-tried-everything-from-dr-dennis-gross-heres-whats-worth-it.html Mon, 07 Feb 2022 16:22:45 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/we-tried-everything-from-dr-dennis-gross-heres-whats-worth-it.html [ad_1]

There’s a reason Dr. Dennis Gross constantly pops up in every celeb skin care routine and bestseller list you come across—the products are good, plain and simple. In a beauty space that gets crammed by the day and is constantly chasing the next best thing, it’s essential to have those brands that you can always count on to work. Dr.Dennis Gross may not have the most Instagrammable packaging out there, but you know it’s going to get your skin looking right.

It all started 25 years ago with the brand’s famed Alpha Beta peel pads. Inspired by his in-office peels, Dr. Gross, a New York City-based board-certified dermatologist and skin cancer researcher, created one of the first at-home peel products, and the rest is history. Since then, Dr. Gross and his co-founder and wife, Carrie, have built a range of medical-grade products and tools that are just as beloved as the OG peel. While the brand isn’t marketed as “clean,” Gross pays as much attention to what doesn’t go into his products as what does, and has eliminated around 1650 ingredients from his formulations. Keeping in line with his medical background, each product is subject to intensive laboratory, clinical, and safety studies before hitting the market—and on your favorite retailer’s shelves

While they may be less expensive than an in-office procedure, the products in the skincare line range from $38-$425, so they aren’t exactly a bargain. As the Glamour team will attest though, they are well worth it. Not sure where to start? Read on for the Dr. Dennis Gross skincare products truly worth the money.

This ‘Botox in a Bottle’ Treatment Reportedly Has The Royal Seal of Approval From Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/this-botox-in-a-bottle-treatment-reportedly-has-the-royal-seal-of-approval-from-kate-middleton-and-meghan-markle.html Tue, 11 Jan 2022 20:34:22 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/this-botox-in-a-bottle-treatment-reportedly-has-the-royal-seal-of-approval-from-kate-middleton-and-meghan-markle.html [ad_1]

Last year, skinimalism was the headlining beauty trend of 2021. It saw makeup application become more minimal and our focus on beautiful healthy-looking skin intensify. This year, cosmetic treatments will have much the same, um, treatment.

We’re still in the market for products and procedures that bring the best out of our complexion, but for many, we want to take a more natural and subtle approach, which is perhaps why Biotulin’s Supreme Skin Gel, the serum dubbed “Botox in a bottle” is firmly back on the map.

The skincare hero rose to prominence back in 2017 when Michelle Obama‘s makeup artist, Carl Ray, let slip that Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge had recommended it to the then-First Lady of America. “Michelle Obama has been using this organic Botox gel regularly on the recommendation of Kate Middleton,’ the MUA told Celebrities Style magazine. High praise indeed, from two of the world’s most photographed women. It’s also been reported that Kate spread the word to her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, too, who was won over by it’s natural credentials.

And the royal seal of approval doesn’t stop there. Queen Letizia of Spain is also said to be a huge fan, according to her little sister, Telma Ortiz Rocasolano, who told Spanish publication, Vida y Estilo, that she uses Biotulin as a natural alternative to Botox. “Letizia is already by nature a very beautiful woman. She knows that plastic surgery is something that would only hurt, something you do not need,” Telma revealed, adding her sister “completely rejects Botox treatments.”

With such a high profile fan following, the serum must be next-level, so what’s the deal? It’s said to smooth skin on an organic basis as part of your daily skincare routine. The main ingredient, spilanthol —a local anaesthetic derived from the extract of the Acmella Oleracea (or paracress) plant—works by reducing muscle contraction, thereby reducing wrinkles, particularly around the eye area and between the brows. And additional plant extracts help to moisturize and hydrate, alongside hyaluronic acid. It looks like there’s receipts, too. According to the brand, independent efficacy studies have shown that skin can start to look firmer in as little as an hour.

The good news is that despite its exclusive clientele, the serum is available to pick up on Amazon for around $65. So, if you’re in the market for some smoothing action without any needles involved, this mega serum comes highly recommended.

Augustinus Bader’s $215 ‘Miracle Eye Cream’ Is the Only One I’ll Ever Need https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/augustinus-baders-215-miracle-eye-cream-is-the-only-one-ill-ever-need.html Wed, 05 Jan 2022 19:06:47 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/augustinus-baders-215-miracle-eye-cream-is-the-only-one-ill-ever-need.html [ad_1]

If there’s one beauty brand that significantly changed me last year, it’s Augustinus Bader. Mostly because I never thought I’d get hooked on a $215 eye cream, but here we are. Like many of my beauty industry colleagues, I’ve long subscribed to the “eye creams are a gentle scam” model of thinking. That doesn’t mean I leave the delicate skin around my eyes completely untouched, but I usually call it a day after treating the area with my regular hydrating moisturizer. It doesn’t do much in terms of making me look or feel more awake; that’s what coffee is for.

So what changed my mind? Augustinus Bader, bottlers of skin-care magic. Since the brand launched in 2018, it has quickly become the most raved-about secret in beauty. Its cult favorite moisturizer—simply dubbed The Cream—has legions of celebrity fans including Ashley Graham, Kate Bosworth, and Victoria Beckham and a Glamour Beauty Award for best moisturizer. The hype extends to beauty editors too; never have I seen a single brand name dropped so much in my Instagram DMs. When I heard that an eye cream was joining the lineup, I had to see if it lived up to my experience with the The Cream (and if it could surpass my lackluster expectations for an eye product).

For those unfamiliar with the brand, all Bader formulas are based on founder Professor Augustinus Bader’s TFC8 (Trigger Factor Complex 8), which he originally discovered while researching treatments for burn survivors. The proprietary cocktail of more than 40 different ingredients, including vitamins and amino acids, is also the key active in The Eye Cream. I will never know exactly what goes in to the secret sauce, but the general idea is that it encourages regeneration and healing by activating your stem cells and supporting your skin’s natural renewal process.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Along with TFC8, The Eye Cream also includes an impressive lineup of additional nourishing actives. Niacinamide (vitamin B3), vitamin B5, and vitamin C treat skin with antioxidants, boost collagen, and help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Botanical extracts like seaweed, arjun tree, and pennywort add even more hydration, plumping, and brightening effects. Firming peptides help your undereye puffiness and dark circles look a little more caffeinated. It’s basically every ingredient you’d want to put in an eye cream, and then some.

I first tried The Eye Cream on a regular weekday, which means I was in dire need of both coffee and sleep. After finishing the rest of my morning skin-care routine, I popped the metal eye cream bottle out of its very chic refillable container and carefully dispensed half a pump on my ring finger. (At $215 a bottle, I wasn’t about to go slathering my face in the stuff.) Immediately, I noticed that the formula was both lightweight and intensely moisturizing. It sank in right away, allowing me to easily layer makeup over it, but it kept the skin around my eyes feeling dewy and firm, as if I’d treated it to layers of serum and cream.
