Through his legal team, Prince Harry has confirmed that he does not feel safe returning to Britain.

On February 18 the Duke of Sussex’s lawyer made a statement to the High Court in London in a preliminary hearing to address the question of police protection for the Sussexes. “This claim is about the fact that the claimant does not feel safe when he is in the U.K. given the security arrangements that were applied to him in June 2021 and will continue to be applied to him if he decides to come back,” attorney Shaheed Fatima said at the Royal Courts of Justice, per The Guardian.

Fatima continued, “And, of course, it should go without saying that he wants to come back: to see family and friends and to continue to support the charities that are so close to his heart. Most of all, this is, and always will be, his home.”

Prince Harry, Meghan Meghan, and their son Archie first lost their taxpayer-funded police protection when they stepped away from being working royals in 2020 and have spoken about the need for security on multiple occasions. (When the family first relocated to California, they stayed at one of Tyler Perry’s properties because he also gave them the use of his security team.)

In 2020, Prince Harry reportedly offered to pay for U.K. police protection from his own funds when in Britain, citing threats from neo-Nazis, but was not allowed to do so. In January 2022 his legal team sought another judicial review to allow the royal to pay for his own security team while in the U.K. At the time Prince Harry released a statement alluding to “compromised” security during his last visit to the U.K., to unveil a statue of his late mother, Princess Diana.

The statement from January referenced an incident in which the royal was “chased by photographers” as he left a charity event. Notably, a chase from photographers also contributed to the death of his mother, and Harry has previously spoken about his fear of history repeating itself.

“While [Prince Harry’s] role within the Institution has changed, his profile as a member of the Royal Family has not,” the statement emphasized. “Nor has the threat to him and his family.”

As a father of two, Prince Harry has learned to strategize. In a virtual event with Serena Williams held on February 3, the Duke of Sussex opened up about finding time for himself after wrangling 2-year-old Archie Harrison and 8-month-old Lilibet Diana.

“The self-care is the first thing that drops away. I’m happy to admit that — as a husband, as a dad,” he said during BetterUp’s Inner Work Day, per People. Luckily, the former senior royal usually manages to swing 30-45 minutes of alone time each morning while Archie is at school and Lilibet is down for a nap.

“Okay, one of the kids has gone to school. The other one’s taking a nap. There’s a break in our program,” he said. “It’s like, right, it’s either for workout, take the dog for a walk, get out in nature, maybe meditate.”

Prince Harry, a well-known mental health awareness advocate, also spoke about that calling in relation to his job as a full-time dad. “It’s work, but out of all the work that we do and all the work that we get pulled towards, it is the most fulfilling work,” he said. “Apart from being a dad.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their son back in May 2019 and announced the birth of their daughter in June 2021. Lilibet Diana was named after Queen Elizabeth as well as Prince Harry’s mom, Princess Diana. 

“Two is definitely a juggle,” Prince Harry told Ed Sheeran at the 2021 WellChild Awards back in July, adding that he and his wife had been “very lucky so far.” He told Sheeran, “[Lilibet is] very chilled and seems happy to just sit there while Archie is running around like crazy.”

Lily Collins had some impactful interactions with Princess Diana and Prince Charles when she was just a toddler. During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden earlier this week, the Emily in Paris actor opened up about the hilarious incidents that she will never forget. And now, neither will we. 

In the interview, James Corden pulled up a photo of a young Collins with the Princess of Wales, and Collins spilled the tea. In the image, a two-year-old Collins appears to be handing Princess Diana a bouquet of flowers. “I have been told that this is what happened,” Collins said. “I’m giving Diana flowers, and the second she went to take them, I then tried to pull them back. So, as you can imagine, all the air was sucked out of the room. But then again, I was wearing a cute dress, so who’s going to really punish me?”

Apparently, Lily Collins’s run-ins with the British royals didn’t stop with Princess Diana. She also shared a story about her interaction with Prince Charles, the queen’s son. “I was also told that when I was younger, I was playing with some toys with Prince Charles,” she said. “And I proceeded to kind of throw something at him, like throw a toy telephone at his head, which again, all the air was sucked out of the room,” she quipped. Collins said this also happened when she was about the same age as she was during Flowergate. 

“Were you just hanging out with the royal family all the time at this point?” James Corden said.

“My dad did a lot with the prince’s trust, and I grew up in Britain, so I’m British,” Collins said. 

“I didn’t know they were so into Genesis,” Corden quipped.

To ring in 2022, Kate Middleton and Prince William, a.k.a. the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, shared a rare photo of themselves holding each other’s hands romantically in the back of a car. 

The photo is not very scandalous, but for royals like Kate Middleton and Prince William, this is the equivalent of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker making out with visible tongue in public. On New Year’s Eve, the official Instagram account for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (@dukeandduchessofcambridge) shared the photo, which was taken the evening of the No Time to Die film premiere in London back in September.

Although the pic was not actually taken on New Year’s Eve, it definitely has a NYE vibe. For the No Time to Die premiere, Middleton wore one of her most stunning red-carpet looks to date. The glittery gold-embellished Jenny Packham gown with a cape is more eye-catching than her usual looks, which tend to lean very classic and preppy, and sans glitter. 

For the special occasion, Middleton wore her hair up with some braided pieces. She complemented the shimmering gold gown with gold jewelry, including statement drop earrings, and wore natural but glam makeup. Prince William wore a sharp black tuxedo, because you can’t go wrong with a classic!

Kate Middleton and Prince William had a pretty low-key holiday season, so sharing a memory from a happier time a few months ago is spot-on and deeply relatable. Due to a worldwide surge in COVID-19 cases, the queen canceled the royal family’s usual gathering in Sandringham. “This Christmas will be different to what so many of us had planned,” the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote in an Instagram post on December 25. “From those who are alone or having to isolate away from loved ones, to the incredible people supporting our NHS and caring for those most in need—we are thinking of you. W & C.”

The queen reportedly chose to have a photo of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex removed from her desk during the taping, while displaying a large photo of the Cambridge family, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. 

“The queen hasn’t decided what to do about [Prince Harry’s decision to leave],” Andersen told Us Weekly. “There’s a point at which—just before she gives a speech to the director on set—[she is] asked which photographs she wants in the shot next to her.” The queen reportedly pointed to a photo of the Sussex family and said, “We won’t be needing that one.” 

The omission of his family was reportedly painful for Prince Harry. “I think that was a hurtful [thing for him to see],” Andersen continued. “A friend of Harry’s told me that he felt that he was being erased in a sense from the family. And it was right after that, that they made their [decision to leave the U.K.]. I think that was one of the things that prompted them to issue the statement that they were stepping back from royal [life for a] full-time real life.”

He continued, “It seems very subtle, but when you think about it, when somebody cuts you out of the family album, so to speak, it’s a pretty strong message.” 

This year, the only photo featured on the White Drawing Room desk at Windsor Castle was of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

Kate Middleton doesn’t seem to run out of hidden talents.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is already an accomplished photographer, just showed off another artistic skill during a very special Christmas broadcast. Apparently, she’s a pianist!

Royal Carols: Together At Christmas is a special TV broadcast featuring musical performances by some of Britain’s favorite stars, including the Duchess herself. Per Whattowatch, the special was recorded earlier this month at Westminster Abbey to pay tribute to all the hard work individuals and groups have done during the pandemic. 

Middleton reportedly spearheaded her first public performance with one of her favorite new singer-songwriters, Tom Walker…and she was basically a prodigy. A source revealed to People that the pair only rehearsed the song together once in London and recorded the performance in just “a couple of takes. The end result is just lovely. 

After meeting Walker at a charity event this past October, the source shared that the Duchess asked him to play “For Those Who Can’t Be Here” with her because the song has “such pertinence for so many this year.” Walker told People that it was a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience.

“I thought she absolutely smashed the performance; it’s not easy to just jump behind a piano with a bunch of musicians you’ve never played with before and record live takes to the camera, but she completely nailed it,” he said. “She’s such a lovely, kind, and warm-hearted person and she took the time to thank everyone personally for the opportunity to play together. It was a crazy pinch-yourself kind of day for me, to be in such a beautiful venue playing alongside the Duchess with my band and a string quartet. I certainly won’t forget that in a hurry!”

Kate Middleton has played piano since she was a child and found comfort in playing music during the pandemic, according to sources. Though this was her first time tickling the ivories in such a public manner, it hopefully won’t be her last!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared their holiday well-wishes on Thursday, December 23, with a family photo featuring their 2-year-old son Archie and six-month-old daughter, Lilibet Diana, who was born in June. 

“This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa’, and Lili made us a family,” they wrote underneath the photo taken by Alexi Lubomirski. “As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families – from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave.”

After a series of links to organizations they support, the couple finished their holiday message, writing, “Wishing you a happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year, from our family to yours!

The card was shared by Team Rubicon, a veteran-run disaster response organization supported by the Archewell Foundation. “We’re grateful to Archewell Foundation and Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their support of our efforts to welcome Afghan families into communities across the country,” a statement on their website read. “We are honored to be amongst the organizations featured in their family’s holiday card this year.

The statement continued, “Our team was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet The Duke and Duchess of Sussex earlier this year at one of the sites we supported, Task Force Liberty, in New Jersey. Afghan family resettlement is a deeply personal mission for our volunteers and with this generous donation, it is our privilege to be able to support them as they transition into their new homes in the new year.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry first announced Lili’s birth back in June, though they did not share any photos of their newborn daughter until now. “Lili was born on Friday, June 4, at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lb. 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home,” the statement read, per People. “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”

The statement continued, “This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”

The reported estrangement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the royal family remains a source of stress for Kate Middleton and Prince William, per a People insider.

After the Sussexes relocated to California, marking an unprecedented exit from being working members of the royal family, the Duchess of Cambridge has reportedly been “really, really upset about it all,” according to People. “Everything with Harry and Meghan has been hugely stressful, but if anything, it’s pulled [her and William] closer together. She was upset about it because [William] was so upset. Seeing her husband so distraught was tough.”

In March, Meghan and Harry gave a tell-all interview to Oprah Winfrey, revealing allegations of mistreatment and racism from the rest of the royal family. During the chat Markle expanded on rumors that she and Kate Middleton had a “feud.” Prince William did not respond favorably to the interview’s allegations, telling a Sky News reporter on March 11, “We are very much not a racist family,” according to People.

Markle doesn’t intend for the public to pick sides between herself and Middleton, though. As she told Winfrey, “If you love me, you don’t have to hate her. And if you love her, you don’t have to hate me.”

For months, reports have showed optimism about the Duchesses rekindling their relationship. An insider told Us Weekly in August that the Duchesses were closer than ever. perhaps even starting a Netflix collaboration on “a documentary that will spotlight Kate’s charity work and the huge impact she’s made with her philanthropy.” However, Omid Scobie, coauthor of Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, called those reports “wishful thinking.” 

For now, we know the Duchess of Cambridge remains focused on quality time with her family, especially with the family Christmas card picture that was taken on a private vacation to Jordan. 

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s annual family Christmas card photo is here—and this one is a little different. 

The new pic was taken on the Cambridge’s private vacation to Jordan earlier this year, Kensington Palace said. That’s evident in the family’s casual attire, specifically Prince William’s—he’s wearing shorts (!).  Meanwhile, Middleton is wearing a flowy olive green dress. Their children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis) look as adorable as ever. I know they are siblings, but Charlotte and Louis truly look so much alike.

Kate Middleton doesn’t talk often about motherhood, but what she has said in the past has been poignant. “It’s so hard,” the duchess said in 2019. “You get a lot of support with the baby as a mother particularly in the early days, but after the age of one, it falls away. After that, there isn’t a huge amount—lots of books to read. Everybody experiences the same struggle.”

The year prior, in a letter for Children’s Hospice Week, Middleton wrote, “Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish. I hope you will join me in supporting Children’s Hospice Week this year. Together we can champion the vital role that children’s hospices play in helping seriously ill children and families to have more precious moments.” 

It sounds like Christmas of 2019 wasn’t completely merry for Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family.

According to royal biographer Christopher Andersen, who spoke to Us Weekly, Queen Elizabeth made a last-minute decision to exclude Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and baby Archie from her annual Christmas broadcast after learning of her grandson’s wish to step back from his senior royal title. (The couple didn’t announce their decision until January 2020.)

Notably, a large photo of the Cambridge family—Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—was featured.
