Spring has come early thanks to Reese Witherspoon and Kohls with an exclusive capsule collection called Draper James RSVP that will give you modern-day Bridgerton vibes.

“The collection turned out so beautiful and we’re so happy to be launching at Kohl’s. It’s very floral and feminine, like Bridgerton,” Witherspoon tells Glamour. “There’s this sense of escape and an idea that there’s pageantry to things, that we can get dressed up again. It’s a really exciting, optimistic feeling, so we wanted to do something fun, like you were invited to a great party after being cooped up inside between this very cold winter and the pandemic.”

To showcase the collection, Witherspoon and the Kohls team created an elaborate outdoor garden party set that perfectly vibe with The Morning Show actor and producer’s charismatic and sunny disposition. “It was just so fun to see [the set designers] decorating with florals and candles and all the fancy things. Unfortunately, I had to leave when it was all over because it wasn’t my house,” she says with a laugh.

“I love this dress,” Witherspoon tells Glamour. “It’s just classic with this beautiful feminine neckline and sleeve, plus a pop of yellow that’s so fun and joyful. Everybody loved this dress the most at the shoot. It just felt like a perfect kind of Easter dress or going to Passover [seder] or a graduation or a wedding. It’s just very happy.”

While the decor may not be up for sale, at least the clothes are, which feature pastel and nautical-themed dresses, structured blazers, bodysuits, blouses, button-down cardigans, jean jackets, skirts, rompers, capris, and more. “The Kohls team said, ‘You know, we’re really missing that kind of lively, bold, joyful clothing that Draper James makes,’ so we were really excited to collaborate with them.”

There were three important requirements for the RSVP collection, starting with an affordable price point. “People want something new in their closet, but don’t want to break the banks, so we priced the clothes between $44 and $98,” Witherspoon says.

The other requirement was that it be more size inclusive, with styles ranging from XS-XXL (or 0-18). “We tried to be mindful of every age group and every body type,” she says. “And when there’s a female design team, we actually know what women wear, and we design to it, because we all want to be able to wear it ourselves. So it’s really fun to come up with things that we find are missing in the marketplace.”

Reese Witherspoon Reveals Why They Ditched Bradley’s Wig on ‘The Morning Show’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/reese-witherspoon-reveals-why-they-ditched-bradleys-wig-on-the-morning-show.html Fri, 17 Sep 2021 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/reese-witherspoon-reveals-why-they-ditched-bradleys-wig-on-the-morning-show.html [ad_1]

Glamour: Bradley has a new look this season. What was behind the decision to dye her hair blonde, which I’m guessing is now your natural hair?

Reese Witherspoon: Yeah, it’s my hair. We talked about it with Kerry Ehrin, our writer, and Mimi Leder, our director, about how when Bradley gets the top anchor job, she’s just doing anything she can to make people happy at the network. So she dyes her hair, she’s doing TikTok dances, she’s hosting celebrity events for them. She’s just trying to get along, and it’s so not her personality. It’s actually kind of funny.

Did you like giving up the wig?

You know, to be honest…it was a complication that, during the pandemic, would have made my life very, very complicated because of how many people have to come and build [the wigs]. It’s a whole technical industry. We actually made a game-day decision that was easier for everybody involved.

So basically COVID killed the wig.

That’s kind of true! [Laughs.]

Viewers learn in the first episode that Alex (Jennifer Aniston) is writing a memoir. Is that something you’ve ever had a desire to do?

I don’t know. I mean, I love reading memoirs. I love Jane Fonda’s. I love Sally Field’s. I think it’s important to learn from other women in your industry—what they’ve been through, because we need to remember they broke through a lot of glass ceilings. But I don’t know if I would do that. I don’t know. I just haven’t been through all the chapters in my life yet, so I’m definitely not ready.

Based on your Glamour Women of the Year speech, as well as others you’ve given, I’m just saying I’d be first in line for that.

Well, thank you. Good to know!

So after The Morning Show’s explosive season-one finale, what excited you about Bradley’s story going forward?

When [head writer] Kerry Ehrin and I started talking about how she was reconceiving season two due to the pandemic, we talked about Bradley exploring her sexuality. I’ve had several friends in their 40s who felt suddenly free enough of their childhood or whatever constraints they had to really explore their sexuality. So that was a little conversation we had, and I thought Kerry really handled that beautifully. There’s great complexity around finding your identity when you’re 45 years old, so that was a lot of that conversation. Kerry also wanted to talk about Bradley’s relationship with her brother and his struggle with addiction. I thought that was so powerful; in fact, so much of the crew was coming up during those scenes and saying it really reminded them of a dynamic they have with their own siblings.

Reese Witherspoon and Daughter Ava Phillippe Look Exactly Alike In Makeup-Free Family Photo https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/reese-witherspoon-and-daughter-ava-phillippe-look-exactly-alike-in-makeup-free-family-photo.html Sun, 29 Aug 2021 17:55:34 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/reese-witherspoon-and-daughter-ava-phillippe-look-exactly-alike-in-makeup-free-family-photo.html [ad_1]

We all know Reese Witherspoon and her 21-year-old daughter Ava Phillipe are practically doppelgangers, but they looked more alike than ever in a recent family snapshot.

On August 28, Witherspoon posted a makeup-free family photo with the children that she shares with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. “Gosh, I’m lucky to be their mom ?️,” Reese Witherspoon wrote alongside the photo with Ava and 17-year-old Deacon Phillippe

It’s honestly wild how much these kids look like their parents. While Ava is a practically perfect match for her mom, Deacon is a mirror of his dad. Check out this family picture on Phillippe’s Instagram back in 2018 when Ava was just 19 and Deacon was 14. “Me n mine ?,” he wrote at the time. Tell me those are not Reese and Ryan mini-mes.

Reese Witherspoon, who was married to her Cruel Intentions costar from 1999 to 2007, welcomed her daughter just two months after the pair tied the knot. In a new episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert, the Big Little Lies actor opened up about her experience as a new mom.

“I did not have a lot of support with my first baby and I learned really early, like, this is not going to work,” she said, per People. “I tried to muscle through for five months with Ava, just not sleeping and I became delirious.”

Now, 22 years later, she’s an expert as a mother of three. She shares her youngest son, eight-year-old Tennesse James with talent agent Jim Toth. However, Witherspoon told Kristen Bell and Monica Padman that she “couldn’t have worked” through the first few months after her daughter was born. “I was lucky enough to have money saved and I didn’t have to work, but it’s just not a one-person job,” she continued. “I would even say it’s not a two-person job.”

She shared a beautiful tribute to Ava on her 21st birthday. “How is it possible that this little girl is now 21 years old? Happy Birthday to my sweet girl who has become the most incredible young woman,” she wrote in September 2020. “Her kindness, her compassion, and her huge heart never cease to amaze me. Ava, there aren’t enough words to describe how proud I am of everything you’ve already accomplished. I cannot wait to see ALL the Good you will put into this world. I love you so much @avaphillippe ?.”

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher’s New Netflix Rom-Com Sounds Like ‘The Holiday’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/reese-witherspoon-and-ashton-kutchers-new-netflix-rom-com-sounds-like-the-holiday.html Wed, 04 Aug 2021 18:54:45 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/reese-witherspoon-and-ashton-kutchers-new-netflix-rom-com-sounds-like-the-holiday.html [ad_1]

Reese Witherspoon can do anything—including getting Ashton Kutcher back into rom-coms. The That 70s Show star was once a mainstay of the genre (Just Married, What Happens in Vegas, New Year’s Eve), but has been working exclusively on TV projects since 2014.

But now, according to Deadline, he has another rom-com in the works: Your Place or Mine, a Netflix original.

Kutcher and Witherspoon will play “best friends who live on opposite coasts [and] swap homes for a week and see their whole lives change,” per Deadline. The screenplay was written by Aline Brosh McKenna, cocreator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and scribe of The Devil Wears Prada. She’ll also be making her feature directorial debut with Your Place or Mine. Kutcher, Witherspoon, and McKenna? This is our version of the Dream Team.

Reese Witherspoon, whose company Hello Sunshine is coproducing the project, has been just as busy behind the scenes as in front of the camera lately. She’s making Legally Blonde 3, plus producing and starring in Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, which will come back for a second season soon.

Ashton Kutcher, meanwhile, has been starring on Netflix’s The Ranch and focusing on his investment and philanthropical efforts, in addition to raising his two children with wife Mila Kunis. The pair recently opened up about their parenting style on an episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, explaining that they don’t overwash their kids. Said Kutcher, “Now, here’s the thing: If you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there’s no point.”

While we wait patiently for Your Place or Mine (we don’t have an exact release date yet), Netflix has thankfully added so many classic rom-coms to streaming. The Kissing Booth! To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! Always Be My Maybe! Here are 16 of our favorites.

‘The Morning Show’ Season 2 Trailer Just Dropped, and It’s a Doozy https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-morning-show-season-2-trailer-just-dropped-and-its-a-doozy.html Mon, 14 Jun 2021 15:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-morning-show-season-2-trailer-just-dropped-and-its-a-doozy.html [ad_1]

“We should just tell the truth quickly. They’re gonna cut us off,” says Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) in the tantalizing first peek at the second season of The Morning Show. She and her co-anchor are about to expose their toxic workplace on their workplace’s own channel. A risky proposition, and she knows it. Then, over a cover of “New York, New York,” we see her, Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston), Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup), and the rest of the cast dealing with and reacting to the explosive revelations from the last season. Allegations of misogyny, harassment, and assault have torn this morning news show apart, and led to the ousting of Mitch (Steve Carell). Now it’s time to start picking up the pieces.

In the teaser, we see Ellison vow to “get Alex back” despite Stella’s (Greta Lee) doubts, and Alex’s own refusal. Hasan Minhaj appears to take her place alongside Bradley, who isn’t exactly happy with the situation, though her blue coat is pretty damn fabulous. And Mark Duplass and Carell’s characters are…moping. Carell, at least, in front of a green screen. I mean, um, in the Mediterranean or something. Meanwhile, Maria Gay Harden wants the truth to come out! But the most exciting appearance is the new character of Laura Peterson, played by Julianna Margulies. Peterson seems to be a Diane Sawyer type, hosting a sit-down tell-all with Alex.

We also get glimpses of a New Year’s Eve party throughout, and the date—2020—begs the question of how far into the year the new episodes will take us, and if they’ll have anything to do with the pandemic. We didn’t see anyone in masks, but they could always be saving it for a twist. As Aniston wrote on Instagram, due to the pandemic this season “took a little longer than expected.”

Check out the trailer below:

The second season, which will be ten episodes long, per Variety, premieres September 17. New episodes will drop every Friday.

She Wanted to Tell Native Women’s Stories. Now She Has a Bestseller and a Netflix Deal. https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/she-wanted-to-tell-native-womens-stories-now-she-has-a-bestseller-and-a-netflix-deal.html Wed, 31 Mar 2021 14:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/she-wanted-to-tell-native-womens-stories-now-she-has-a-bestseller-and-a-netflix-deal.html [ad_1]

I just think that we have all these dynamic stories to tell, but what you see available in bookstores and in classrooms, the stories are all set in the past. And maybe they focus on one type of Native—like, my tribe didn’t have teepees! I felt it was important to know that we’re still here and to know what our young people are going through, and for them to feel seen, which I didn’t, growing up.

There’s some debate about whether Ojibwe people are matrilineal or patrilineal, but I’ve received some teachings that are very old that suggest that we were originally matrilineal—everything comes from the life-giver. And I think there’s something to that. Anytime I see a male who’s in a power position, it seems like there’s…a lot of cracks in that. Every tribal community that I’ve ever worked in, I see that when native women have their stuff together they’re just unstoppable.

What’s one piece of advice you wish you could have given your younger self?

I think it wasn’t until I was in my late 40s that I really started to see how important it was for me to have boundaries. I remember being so unhappy in certain situations and feeling like I had to go along with it and not make waves. And I remember thinking—if my daughter came to me and was this unhappy, I would tell her, “Love yourself, take care of yourself, if you’re in a situation that’s not good, get yourself out of the situation.” And then I remember thinking, “If I love myself as I love my daughter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to tell her this, why can’t I take my own advice?” And so what I would tell my younger self is to take care of myself and make no apologies for having boundaries.

Who taught you to set boundaries?

I just realized that givers need to set boundaries because takers never will. I was sometimes in situations at work where it felt like no matter what I gave it was never going to be enough, and for reasons that had nothing to do with me. I read this saying somewhere—“You don’t have to set yourself on fire to keep other people warm.”

So, the story you spent ten years on is going to be adapted for a Netflix series by the Obamas’ production company! Do you have any I-will-die-on-this-hill ideas for the adaptation?

What I have said from the very beginning is that there needs to be Native creative talent, not just in front of the camera, but behind the camera, and in the writers’ room, and at every stage, there just has to be. That’s a big reason why I wanted to collaborate with Higher Ground, because they completely got it. They already had names of people, they had done their work to let me know how serious they were about sharing my vision for this series. I’m not going to go into business with someone that would think, “Oh, are there Native screenwriters? I don’t know of any, is that possible?” I didn’t want to be in a position of doing Indians 101.

How do you treat yourself to celebrate success?

I bought this ring when I bought the book deal, it’s a green tourmaline, it’s gorgeous. [Laughs and holds up a hand full of rings.] All of these different rings that I have, I’m like, “That’s for the book deal! That’s for the Netflix deal! That’s for Reese’s book club!” I like it because every time I wear the jewelry I’m like, “Yep! Yep! Yep!”

“Firekeeper’s Daughter” by Angeline Boulley (March 16)

Another YA novel that’s absolutely page-turning required reading for adults, Firekeeper’s Daughter is the story of the daughter of a white mother and Native father trying to find her place in an increasingly tragedy-stricken community. Our heroine is so smart, so thoughtful, and so good—Boulley, who started writing at 44 and sold her first book at 54, makes her jump off the page. Get a copy before all the teens do—Firekeeper’s Daughter has already been optioned for Netflix by the Obamas’ production company.

Elle Woods Will Be 40 Years Old in ‘Legally Blonde 3’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/elle-woods-will-be-40-years-old-in-legally-blonde-3.html Sun, 10 Jan 2021 22:22:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/elle-woods-will-be-40-years-old-in-legally-blonde-3.html [ad_1]

For many years, Legally Blonde 3 was just a dream held by fans of the first two Reese Witherspoon films about a California sorority girl who conquers Harvard Law School and Washington, D.C. But every once in a while, dreams do, indeed, come true.

“I think it would be cool,” Witherspoon said on Fashionably Late With Rachel Zoe in October 2015. “I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to lately. A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it. I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women. And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or somebody who runs for office, president.” Then, in 2017, she kept hope alive. “We’ve thought about it,” she told E! News. “I need somebody really clever to come up with a great idea and we’ll do it.”

Well, it looks like that finally happened. In June 2018, Witherspoon posted a video of herself floating in a pool à la Elle’s Harvard application video with the caption “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3.”

There isn’t a lot of information yet, but here’s everything we know so far about Legally Blonde 3.

The cast. Witherspoon is definitely on board, but there’s no official word yet on who might be joining her. “It’s just a development project right now, so we’ll see,” Witherspoon told Entertainment Tonight in October 2019. “I love Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson and Selma Blair and so there’s so many great characters that people love. If we end up doing it, hopefully, they end up all being there.”

“I hear that it is going, but I just don’t know what the timeline is,” Coolidge has said of bringing Paulette back to the big screen. “But you know, if I’m asked to do it, I’ll definitely be in there.”

By January 2021, Coolidge was listed as a member of the cast on IMDB, along with Alanna Ubach and Jessica Cauffiel, who played Elle’s besties, Serena and Margot, in the first and second movies.

“I have not talked to Reese about it, but yeah, I always kind of hear rumors here and there,” Wilson told ET in May 2020. “Never anything official about them doing another Legally Blonde, but I’d love to do another one. I mean, just that character Reese played was so funny at the time and that has kind of become this iconic character now.”

The Home Edit’s $25 Secret to a Perfectly Organized Pantry https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-home-edits-25-secret-to-a-perfectly-organized-pantry.html Wed, 16 Dec 2020 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-home-edits-25-secret-to-a-perfectly-organized-pantry.html [ad_1]

Teplin: Oh, I do too.

Shearer: But I would go with sweet too and say nutmeg. There’s something so wintery about it. Joanna has a huge sweet tooth. When we made our gingerbread brownies, we were actually able to find a vegan version for her through the app—because she’s kind of a fake vegan—and let me tell you, she ate the entire thing in seconds.

Teplin: I did, I did.

Shearer: I truly am not joking, I looked over at it and I was like, “Did a raccoon get in it here?” Because it was scooped up. I was like, “I just saw it full and now it’s all gone!”

The ultimate tools for organizing a pantry

Shearer: Hands down, our absolute favorite tool would be a turntable. They work so beautifully with spices and all sorts of bottles, oils—all of those kinds of condiments. A turntable is just like magic on a pantry shelf.

Teplin: It is total magic. We’re both obsessed with it. If I had to give a second one: an expandable shelf. It’s so great for organizing the pantry, especially when it comes to spices. We’re a little bit biased, so we do use our own collection. The reason why we created these products is because we know the exact measurements we need and exactly the aesthetic we’re looking for.

The Home Edit 2-Tier Turntable

The Home Edit 3-Tier Shelf

A low-budget tip for the kitchen

Shearer: The best thing you can do on zero budget is to strictly edit out unused, expired, old items—things that have just a tiny bit left in it. It’s truly the best tactic you could use for organization, and it costs zero dollars. Before you ever get to organizing products, it’s really so essential.

Our favorite organizing investment piece

Shearer: Honestly, the best thing you can do to organize your pantry, if you want to set aside X amount of dollars and really do it effectively, is to invest in really good, all-purpose bins. Even if you don’t want to go the extra step for the accessories—like the turntable and the shelf and all of those things that are amazing—the bare bones, absolute, you-will-contain-everything, is all-purpose bins. And you can make them into really broad categories. We try not to get overly specific and granular because we don’t want to feel stuck. Instead of the “pasta” bin, we call it the “dinner” bin.

The Home Edit All-Purpose Bin

The last things we bought for our homes

Shearer: I got a new knife set with a block by Wüsthof that makes me feel very adult, because it’s so nice and pretty on my counter. I moved into my house in May, and it was very exciting. There’s nothing an organizer loves more than reconfiguring a pantry. I was able to prop it out with all of our products, which was super fun and exciting. The very last touch I added was our collection of floor baskets made from leather and canvas.

Wusthof Classic Ikon 7-Piece Knife Block Set

Teplin: For me, I added a new turntable. Again, we’re obsessed with it! I added an extra one with all of my favorite teas and honey and stuff. I just like looking at pretty teas.
