Miley Cyrus continues to find the humor in her New Year’s Eve wardrobe malfunction that kicked off 2022.

The evening of December 31 into January 1, Cyrus took the stage for her NBC New Year’s Eve special, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, cohosted by Pete Davidson. Unfortunately, it only took a few minutes into her performance of “We Can’t Stop” for things to go wrong when the singer’s shredded silver top came undone. Of course, Cyrus handled the entire thing like a professional, continuing to sing while holding the costume to her chest until she was able to head off stage during “Party in the U.S.A.,” returning in a red blazer.

It didn’t take long for Miley Cyrus to joke about the snafu. “Everybody’s definitely looking at me now,” Cyrus joked, referencing the famous ”Party in the U.S.A.” lyrics. “I’m still in the most clothes that I’ve ever worn on stage.”

On January 2, Cyrus poked fun at herself again. The singer shared a carousel of photos from the night to her feed, starting with a pic of the top in question, writing, “Get a good look at the top that didn’t stay on very long….. ?.”

Fans were quick to praise the artist in her comments. “Happens to the best of em,” one follower wrote. 

“You were a professional badass as always,” another user wrote. “Also, the red blazer outfit ? TIMELESS ICON!”

These compliments echoed fans’ reactions to the moment as it happened in real-time. “Miley Cyrus just had the biggest save of 2022,” one fan tweeted on January 1. Miley Cyrus just hilariously called out Pete Davidson’s new relationship with Kim Kardashian. And she did it in song. 

On December 9, the two appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon together to promote their upcoming New Year’s Eve special. The two will cohost Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami, which will be streamed live on NBC. 

Miley Cyrus was the musical guest for the episode, and she performed a throwback cover of “It Should Have Been Me” by Yvonne Fair. Before she even started singing, she turned to her fellow guest and said, “Pete Davidson, this song is for you. When I saw those photos, this is what I played.”

The photos Cyrus is referencing are most likely the recent ones of Davidson and Kardashian leaving the Giorgio Baldi restaurant hand-in-hand for Davidson’s Lamborghini SUV, presumably after a date.  In her song, Cyrus sang that it should’ve been her “in that Lamborghini leaving that nice ass restaurant.”

Davidson was all smiles during the serenade, even blushing when Cyrus sang about Davidson and Kardashian in Staten Island together. Despite never name-dropping Kardashian, Davidson’s knowing giggle is all we need to confirm who Cyrus was singing about.

 A source told E! Online on November 19 that Davidson and Kim Kardashian are exclusive. “They are really happy and seeing where it goes,” the source said. 

“Pete has told her he doesn’t want to see anyone else,” they continued, confirming Kardashian (allegedly) feels the same. “She is telling some people they aren’t super serious but she isn’t seeing anyone else…. She’s trying to not make a big deal about it but is super into him.”

“Kim is smitten over him and it’s very exciting to her,” the source added. “He makes her laugh the entire time they are together and she is completely enthralled by him.”

As Selena Gomez prepares for a more “sophisticated” stage of her television career, the former Wizards of Waverly Place star is looking back at her time on the Disney Channel.

“I signed my life away to Disney at a very young age and I didn’t know what I was doing,” the 29-year-old told reporters during an appearance at the Television Critics Association’s Summer Press Tour, per Complex. Now, she’s looking forward to playing a character that’s her “actual age” in the upcoming Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building.

Gomez will star as Mabel Mora alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin in the series which follows a group of true crime enthusiasts investigating a death inside their swanky New York City apartment building. The 10-episode series, which was co-created by Martin and John Hoffman, will premiere on August 31. 

“What I’d say is the level of sophistication of the material is the first reason why I wanted to do this,” Gomez said when asked to compare her time on Disney Channel to her current experience, per Entertainment Tonight. “But when I was a kid, I didn’t know what I was doing. I was just running around on set and now I just feel like a sponge and I soak up all the wisdom that I can.”

She added, “It’s just it’s really nice to be back on TV and it’s nice to be cast as my actual age, which never happens. So I am very happy to be doing this.”

Selena Gomez’s fellow Disney alum Miley Cyrus recently opened up about her time on Hannah Montana in an appearance on Kevin Hart’s Peacock talk show, Hart to Heart. 

“The concept of the show is that when I would alter my image and I would put on a wig and I would put on sparkly things that I held a new value. That I was valuable,” she said, per Elle. “It did translate into my real life. There was a different level of, like, hysteria when Hannah…the way that kids would react at these Hannah shows, versus when I was myself and I would meet fans out, it was different. And so, again, on that kind of psychological level, I guess that’s kind of why originally when I started doing solo projects as my own identity, I’d almost create kind of alter-egos of myself.”

Miley Cyrus is celebrating the four-year anniversary of her hit song “Malibu.” The 2017 track was the lead single for her sixth studio album, Younger Now. Aside from being her ninth top-10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it’s also a special song for other reasons. It’s widely known that Cyrus penned “Malibu” as an ode to her then fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, and the home they shared in the California beach town, which was destroyed in a wildfire. Despite their split, the singer still holds a soft space in her heart for the song.

“Today is the 4 year anniversary of Malibu,” Cyrus began in the caption to the throwback video of her singing. “A song about a place and person that at the time I loved very much. That love was reciprocated beyond what I could describe here with freedom & escapism. I lost that home along with many others in 2018. Here is a video of me writing it in my home studio. ? ? ?”

Miley Cyrus has spoken about how she ended up writing the song in the back of an Uber (yes, really). You never know when inspiration will strike! “On the way to The Voice. I drive myself everywhere, but that day I decided to Uber, and I was trying not to sing out loud because someone else was in the car,” she revealed in a cover story with Billboard. 

In an interview with Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, Cyrus talked about the story of the song, which includes elements of love, nature, and a sense of belonging. “It can so easily be generalized into a love song,” she explained. “I had to really heal myself individually, and then this song about finding a new love with an old love, maybe you’re finding a new freedom is also about individuality and the freedom in that.”

She continued, “And realizing that certain doors lead you to one place you never imagined you would be, and if that can be through a person, that’s really awesome.”

Saturday Night Live may have just announced its most bizarre lineup yet.

On April 24, Miley Cyrus posted the iconic sticky notes that SNL uses to declare the upcoming host and musical guest. While Cyrus fans were thrilled to see her name on that pink slip of paper, the name above hers was definitely a shock to people on Twitter: SpaceX and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. 

While Musk is known for many things—his billionaire status, an obsession with Mars, and a cool as hell mom, to name a few—comedy is not one of them. People on Twitter had a lot to say about his upcoming role as host of Saturday Night Live on May 8, and very little of it was positive.

“Is the pandemic not enough,” Hunter Harris tweeted on April 24. Another replied directly to SNL’s tweet using a gif of the comedy show’s own sketch to express their confusion. 

“IDK how much communication you have with Lorne or the higher-ups, but someone needs to tell them that absolutely no one wants this,” another user replied to SNL. “I can not think of a single person who wants this. and I don’t mean Miley.”

It does not get better from there. 

This will be Cyrus’ sixth time performing on SNL, and many are planning on tuning in—but just for the Plastic Hearts pop star.  “JUST LET MILEY HOST,” one person tweeted, while many professed they are only interested in the musical guest. “We are watching for Miley only,” one fan said. 

“Please just let Miley do double duty,” another Twitter user agreed. 

Ultimately, people are not sure what to make of this pairing, describing it as “chaotic” and “the most random combination ever but ok.”

Clearly, this is happening no matter what people are saying online. Hopefully, we’ll at least get a funny sketch about Musk’s relationship with musician Grimes. The pair welcomed their son, X Æ A-12, on May 4, 2020, before changing his name to X Æ A-Xii in accordance with California law. As for how to pronounce moniker, Musk clarified on the Joe Rogan podcast. “It’s just X, the letter X. And then the Æ is, like, pronounced ‘ash.’ And then A-12 is my contribution,” he said. “Archangel-12, the precursor to the SR-71, coolest plane ever.”

So yeah, May 8 will definitely be an experience.

It’s been 15 years since Hannah Montana premiered, and it’s no exaggeration to say life has simply not been the same since. Especially for Miley Cyrus, who starred as Hannah/Miley Stewart in the series and the subsequent movie, and even recorded music and toured under that blond wig (well, we assume she wore the wig in the studio).

To commemorate the character’s anniversary, Cyrus wrote a letter on purple Hannah Montana stationery–need it, gotta have it–reflecting on the journey they went through together.

Posted to Instagram, the letter reads, “Hi Hannah, it’s been a while. 15 years to be exact…I didn’t know then, [my heart] is where you would live forever. Although you are considered to be an ‘alter ego’ in reality there was a time in my life when you held more of my identity in your glovette than I did in my bare hands.”

Cyrus recalled making her audition tape for the series, writing, “I couldn’t have imagined when taping myself singing ‘I Love Rock N Roll’ against a white wall in my mom’s friend’s kitchen in Nashville, Tennessee, the name typed in marquee style letters on the front of a first draft script would make my wildest dreams a reality.”

She also shared some of the more tender and even painful parts of growing up that happened over the course of making the series. In addition to losing her grandfather just weeks before the show’s premiere, and falling in love for the first time during the show’s run, Miley Cyrus revealed that she “embarrassingly started my period in a pair of white capris of course on the day a ‘cute guy’ was cast + asked to have lunch with me. Instead I spent it in the bathroom with my mom sobbing + scrambling to find a pair of fresh denim.” Should have been an episode!

She went on to call her costars her family and expressed love and appreciation for the cast, crew, and everyone who made the show possible, especially the fans. BRB, listening to “The Climb” and sobbing.

Looks like Lizzo is getting a mullet.

Here’s what happened. Miley Cyrus was prepping for her Super Bowl preshow by doing the exercise I learned from the tragically underrated reality show Legally Blonde: The Musical—The Search for Elle Woods. By that I mean she practiced stamina and breath control by belting out Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl” while running on a treadmill. 

Not one to be outdone, Lizzo hopped on the trend to sing “Cuz I Love You” during her own intense workout. Lizzo must’ve known Cyrus loves responding to challenges in TikTok captions, so she threw one out there. “If @mileycyrus comments I’ll get a mullet ????,” she wrote. I have to imagine all those sob-emojis were used because Lizzo knew her fate was sealed.

Of course, Cyrus responded in her signature “She’s just being Miley” fashion: “Send me the addy! I’m on my way to scissor…I mean with scissors! Mullet Girls! ” Raise your hand if you’re going to need a million-part TikTok series about this adventure.

Lizzo is not the first celebrity or TikTok user Cyrus has gotten sexy with using the comments section. Back in December the “Midnight Sky” singer suggested a three-way with Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes after the pair posted a cover of her hit “The Climb.” Before that she straight-up asked out a fan who asked Cyrus to pick out her next tattoo.  She pretty much can’t stop, won’t stop—and I never want her to.

Lizzo also posted the video to Instagram writing, “I’m tireeeeed…Cuz I Love Yoooooouuu. I saw @mileycyrus running and singing on a treadmill so I ran and sang on a treadmill. It was fetch. And FUCKING HARD.

“I’m doing this for all the big girls out there,” she said at the start of this longer clip. “They said we couldn’t do it!” Whoever said that was obviously dead wrong. I mean, we all saw her Grammys performance last year, right? 

This time Cyrus’s response was much safer for work. The pop star reposted Lizzo’s vid on Instagram Stories, writing, “I love you more! When I’m back from super bowl, We gonna try doing this shit IN MASKS! Letsssss goooooooo!”

The combination of Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton basically is Miley Cyrus. Cyrus is the perfect blend of pop, rock, and country. Guitars and blond hair. Flannel and glitter. You get the idea! So it’s no surprise the Plastic Hearts singer is a huge fan of the The Voice couple. (Cyrus, like Stefani, was a coach on The Voice alongside Shelton.) In fact, she’s volunteered to sing at their wedding.

“I’ll be your wedding singer! I promise to be on my best behavior. Or worst. whatever you want! It’s your special day! Cheers to loving you both almost as much as you love each other!” Cyrus wrote on Twitter, responding to a tweet from Stefani praising her performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series. “talented geeezzzz,” the former No Doubt singer wrote. Stefani and Shelton announced their engagement in October 2020.

However, that wedding offer wasn’t Cyrus’s first response.  “When my [sic] hero’s tweet me I get horny,” she also posted in response to Stefani’s compliment.

Stefani then responded, “omg your [sic] crazy!! …blushing …gx …#theclimb.” Ah yes, the climb. The climb…to horniness? Or maybe she meant the time Cyrus climbed the Roosevelt sign above Hollywood Boulevard naked, which she revealed while reminiscing about good times with Flaming Lips singer Wayne Coyne. Cyrus is also Dolly Parton’s goddaughter. See what we mean about her being the total fusion of pop, rock, and country? The gal knows everybody!

As for that performance offer, Stefani was touched. She wrote, “thanks puppy.”

Once this pandemic is over, we can only imagine Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton will have the most country-chic-pop musical-fusion celebrity wedding ever. Maybe Miley Cyrus could sing one of her happier songs. Not so much “Wrecking Ball,” more “Malibu.” Or “Adore You.” Ooh, or “Hoedown Throwdown,” just for fun.

Flaming Lips member Wayne Coyne’s 60th birthday was on Wednesday, January 13, and Miley Cyrus celebrated it by posting a series of photos to her Instagram Stories. (The two are friends!) Most of the moments she shared were sweet, like one of their first times performing together, plus pics of them hugging. But one image stood out from the rest. The last slide on Cyrus’s IG Story birthday tribute is of herself and Coyne standing on Hollywood Boulevard after a “rager.” “I climbed the Roosevelt sign naked,” she wrote under the pic. 

Cyrus is referring to the Hotel Roosevelt sign that sits atop the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. The hotel is named after President Theodore Roosevelt, and since its opening in 1927 has been an A-list hotspot, welcoming legends ranging from Marilyn Monroe to Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Cyrus, obviously.

To quote a famous Cyrus song, she’s just being Miley, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. The 28-year-old has blessed us with so many iconic moments, from famously swinging naked on a wrecking ball to her latest album, Plastic Hearts.  Add this Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel stunt to the list. 

Wayne Coyne spoke about his friendship with Miley Cyrus during a 2017 interview with The Guardian. Apparently, she first reached out to him by tweeting a happy birthday message in 2014.

“I tweeted her back my phone number and said, ‘Text me,’” he said in the interview. “Since then, we’ve texted each other every day. I’ll say, ‘What are you doing?’ and she’ll send me pictures of herself peeing. Sometimes it’s 1,000 times a day, sometimes it’s a couple of times a day, but we’re in each other’s lives.” 

Cyrus is now sober. In a November 2020 interview with New Music Daily (per People), she said she “fell off” during quarantine, but “now [I] am back on sobriety, two weeks sober, and I feel like I really accepted that time.”

She says her decision to be sober isn’t about addiction but about wanting to be “100%, 100% of the time.” “I think everyone has to do what is best for them,” she also said on  New Music Daily. “I don’t have a problem with drinking. I have a problem with the decisions I make once I go past that level of…I’ve just been wanting to wake up 100%, 100% of the time.”
