Charlie: Or maybe proposing to my wife was a romantic moment. We like to look for seashells on the beach, and we were in Mexico and all the shells…. I had a ring in my pocket. I’m so nervous I was going to hide a ring in a shell and say, “Oh, look what’s in this shell.” But the waves were so violent that all the shells were crushed. It was like dust. I did find one just big enough to squeeze that ring into, and then I tried to fumble it in. Mary Elizabeth was like, “What are you doing?” “Are you breaking—” ”No here, look inside it.”

Jenny: Oh geez. Yeah, I like to say that the most romantic thing I’ve done is pushing a baby out of my very own vagina while wearing a mask during a pandemic. But I’m just a die-hard romantic.

Charlie: That’s dedication.

Jenny: Yep.

Charlie: My father-in-law hid an engagement ring in a garbage can, in, like, a dumpster, and said, “Oh Judy, look at this dumpster over here.”

Jenny: Wow. Why did he do that?

Charlie: I don’t know, but they’re still married.

The classic garbage proposal.

Charlie: Yeah, it worked!

Well, what’s something that everyone seems to love but you dislike?

Jenny: I don’t like reality TV. I don’t like what it is. I don’t like what it’s doing to culture.

Charlie: All reality TV?

Jenny: No, no, no. I like the ones like the baking ones, or where there’s a skill involved. I don’t like the ones that just, like, encourage women to argue with each other. I think that that is not great for what we’re trying to do.

Charlie: If it’s a competition or a game show, that’s okay?

Jenny: Oh, like The Amazing Race? Great. Go for it. Do it. The British baking people are baking all their cakes. Go bake your cakes. That’s what I always say. I always just say, “Go and bake your cakes.” That’s going to be the name of my autobiography.

Charlie: What do people like that I don’t like? I don’t know. I like a lot of things. Maybe I’m getting tired of the superhero movies. I like them, but let’s just take a break.

Jenny: You’re right.

Charlie: Let’s take a five-year break.

Jenny: For sure. Let’s get a little more of, like, The Fugitive.

Charlie: Unless they want to cast me in one and then, you know.

Jenny: The lady at Marvel is like, “I wonder… Oh, you’re good? Got it.”

Charlie: “He doesn’t want to do it!”

Jenny: “He doesn’t want it. I don’t want to bother him.”

Well, if you were in one, you’d bring new ideas that would make it fresh…right?

Charlie: If I was in them, then they’d be great.

Jenny: I agree.

Okay, one last question. Fill in the blank: I love when my partner…

Meet Ivan Hernandez, Carrie Bradshaw’s New Love Interest on ‘And Just Like That…’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/meet-ivan-hernandez-carrie-bradshaws-new-love-interest-on-and-just-like-that.html Tue, 08 Feb 2022 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/meet-ivan-hernandez-carrie-bradshaws-new-love-interest-on-and-just-like-that.html [ad_1]

Craig Blankenhorn/HBO Max

I rewatched the last 15 minutes of the episode, and we should have known something was coming because when you first come in at the wedding and the couple kisses, Franklyn says, “That was a kiss.” Did Michael Patrick King give you any sort of instruction to make the kiss like that?

He didn’t say that, but I think it was referencing not just the wedding kiss, but the kiss between Carrie and Peter too, and the lack of chemistry. And so that line was referencing that. I knew that the last kiss between us, the last moment of the show was meant to be the opposite of the kiss with Peter, which you can’t really…I mean, you don’t know if it’s going to really work out, but I did my best.

Did you watch the scene, or is it too hard to watch you making out with Sarah Jessica?

No, I watched it. I like to see how it turned out. But it’s hard to judge. It’s hard to be your own judge. That’s for sure.

It turned out great. Have you thought of what comes next for them?

I have my own ideas and thoughts, but it’s not up to me. It’s up to the writers. So I’ll be just as interested as anybody else to find out.

What are your thoughts? I need to know. [Laughs.]

Ha! I think I’ll keep them to myself. It could go anywhere. Who knows?

Okay, so switching gears from Franklyn to Ivan, where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in San Francisco. I started up as a musician. I was playing piano and clarinet and saxophone and playing soccer. My dreams was to play soccer in Europe. But then during my last year in high school, I did a play and a musical and loved it. And then I got to college, and I started doing the shows there. I fell in love with theater and musical theater and became a total musical theater nerd, diving into that world. Then I moved to New York and did that for a long time until I got married and had two kids—two wonderful daughters. After that, we decided it was time to move to L.A. and have a more family-friendly schedule and do more television.

How old are your daughters?

They are 13 and 10.

Have they watched any of And Just Like That…?

No, no, not yet. Maybe in a few years.

And what does your wife do?

Christina is a writer. She’s been finishing up a novel and also teaches German online because she’s from Germany.

So what did Christina think of your kiss with Carrie Bradshaw?

She’s going to be so mad at me, but she just hates to watch that stuff.

All you have to say is “Honey, it’s job security. This is great.”

Exactly. That’s what I always say, but she still doesn’t like it. Although she was happy it was nothing more risqué. She loves the show too, but she’d prefer if I don’t have to do that stuff.

What is the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for your wife, and what’s the most romantic thing she’s ever done for you?

I’d have to say it’s when we first met. She was visiting New York, doing an internship for three months, and she happened to answer my Craigslist ad for [a roommate]. I was leaving town, so she rented my room. And then I came back, and my [other] roommate was gone. So we hung out for eight or nine days, and then she had to go back to Germany. I didn’t know if I’d ever see her again, but we kept talking. It was right at the beginning of people using Skype, so at least we had that. And then I decided to fly to Germany and convince her to move to New York.

Back up. So she was a roommate that was temporarily living in your place for nine days?

Right. Yes. [Laughs.] Well, she was there for a couple of months, but I was gone. And then I came back a little earlier than planned. And then we hung out until she went back to Germany.

Were you romantic during that time?

Yeah, yeah. Maybe a little bit, eventually, but we were just hanging out and being in New York City. And then at the end of it, she went back. We didn’t know what was going to happen or if I’d ever see her again. I decided to fly to Germany and woo her and get her to move to New York. So she moved at the end of 2006, and then we got married almost a year later, in 2007.

So you guys are going on your 15th wedding anniversary. Congratulations!

Thank you. It’s nice to have a bit of a stability—and I have a home base with a family—when you’re going through a crazy acting career.

Absolutely. And speaking of, who’s the most surprising person you heard from after they saw you in the show?

Oh, that’s a good question. Nobody too surprising. Maybe it’s just some old friends from college.

Finally, what is your ideal day off?

A nice massage and just hanging out and reading and having my coffee. And I love to go out to a really nice restaurant in the city and enjoy a nice meal with my wife or a good friend.

What’s the most romantic restaurant you like to take Christina to?

Gramercy Tavern is probably my favorite and a romantic place and just really wonderful food. The people who work there are really nice. Oh, God, what else? I mean, we live in Los Angeles now, so I’m trying to think of what’s another little quiet place. But it’s been so long since we’ve been able to go out.

Would you consider yourself romantic in real life?

I’d have to say yes, I guess. Yeah, I am. I hope my wife thinks so.

‘Euphoria’ Star Angus Cloud Swears He’s Not Playing Himself https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/euphoria-star-angus-cloud-swears-hes-not-playing-himself.html Fri, 04 Feb 2022 17:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/euphoria-star-angus-cloud-swears-hes-not-playing-himself.html [ad_1]

Okay, let’s get into some inappropriate questions. Are you nervous?

No. Should I be?

Maybe. What’s a relationship rule you think is B.S.?

I don’t know, what are the rules?

For example, people might say you can’t text someone you’re interested in for at least a day after you meet.

That’s pretty much bullshit. What the fuck would you be waiting for? I don’t text anybody anyways; I just call people on the phone. I call people whenever after I meet them. I don’t put a time on it.

Fill in the blank: I love when my partner_____

I love when my partner does something nice.

What’s the most romantic thing that’s ever happened to you?

Maybe getting a flower or some shit.

Do you have a favorite flower?

Rose.

You have a full day to binge-watch whatever you want—what are you watching?

It depends on my mood but, for me, the go-to is The Office. Come on, now. That’s old reliable, you feel me? It’s a classic!

What is the weirdest thing you do in your alone time?

Oh, you’re tryin’ to get real risqué. [Laughs.] Maybe, like, read a book? It seems pretty foreign to people nowadays.

Screw, Marry, Kill: Weed, alcohol, pizza.

I would probably marry weed, kill alcohol, and eat pizza.

Jon Wong

What’s the most surprising place you’ve hooked up with someone?

On top of, like, a crane or an abandoned building.

That’s an answer I’ve never heard before! What’s something that everyone loves but you don’t?

I’d rather eat a Big Mac than an In-N-Out Burger. Unpopular opinion, I don’t care. I’d rather eat a Big Mac than an In-N-Out Burger, and I’ll say that with my chest.

You mentioned in an interview that you’d like to be in a project like Harry Potter. What’s your Hogwarts house?

Meet Mamoudou Athie, the Star of Netflix’s Scary New Show ‘Archive 81’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/meet-mamoudou-athie-the-star-of-netflixs-scary-new-show-archive-81.html Fri, 14 Jan 2022 14:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/meet-mamoudou-athie-the-star-of-netflixs-scary-new-show-archive-81.html [ad_1]

Actor Mamoudou Athie (Sorry for Your Loss, Patti Cake$, Unicorn Store) is the star of the Netflix show that will get you through January. It’s called Archive 81, and it’s downright terrifying.

Athie plays Dan Turner, a video archivist hired to restore a series of tapes recovered from a fire at a New York City apartment building. But what starts off as a standard job soon becomes frightening, as the found footage dives into the supernatural—and has surprising connections to Dan’s own past.

Athie is magnificent in the role, bringing depth and subtle heartbreak to what will surely be a buzzy piece of Netflix fodder. This show has viral written all over it, but Athie’s measured performance grounds it, leaving you both scared and moved.

Off-screen, though, Athie is far more relaxed, as evidenced by the fact he was down for a round of Glamour’s Inappropriate Questions, where we ask all the things best suited for a second (or third) date. Read on to get to know Athie more—he’s about to be your new internet crush.

Glamour: Fill in the blank for me: I love when my partner____.

Mamoudou Athie: I love when my partner takes it easy.

Do you mean just someone who has a relaxed disposition?

Yes. Absolutely. Just, like, nothing’s a big deal, everything’s a stress-free zone.

What is your biggest deal-breaker?

Rudeness, for sure. Rudeness, bad manners, bad hygiene. I hope those are standard, but you never know. And just any kind of lying.

Have you ever ghosted anyone?

I wouldn’t say…maybe like a fade-away ghost. I’m not proud of it. More like things dissipated. I don’t think I’ve ever just ghosted on somebody unless they did one of the above [dealbreakers]. Which, oh, I can’t even tell the story. But there was a time that I straight-up ghosted someone because I was scared.

Really? Because they were just lying, or because it was just getting out of hand?

Because it was weird. It was weird, and I was like, “This probably isn’t a good idea at all.” It was innocuous. It was kind of a lie and nothing crazy, but I was like, “Oh, this person might be a little deranged, so I got to go.”

Meet Lucien Laviscount, Your New Internet Boyfriend From ‘Emily in Paris’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/meet-lucien-laviscount-your-new-internet-boyfriend-from-emily-in-paris.html Wed, 22 Dec 2021 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/meet-lucien-laviscount-your-new-internet-boyfriend-from-emily-in-paris.html [ad_1]

British actor Lucien Laviscount has arrived to shake things up on Emily in Paris season two

The 29-year-old plays Alfie, a cocky, charming Londoner who’s moved to Paris for work. Coincidentally, he’s in the same French class as Emily (Lily Collins)—and their relationship starts off contentious before morphing into full-on flirting.

But what does that mean for Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), the hot chef Emily was hooking up with in season one—despite the fact he’s her new friend Camille’s (Camille Razat) boyfriend? Drama! That’s what it means: drama!

Offscreen, though, Laviscount is drama-free; the arrogance he exudes as Alfie is swapped for warmth and playfulness. Simply put, he’s a delight—and he was totally game to sit down for Glamour‘s Inappropriate Questions, for which I asked him all the things best suited for a second (or third) date. Read on, and stream Emily in Paris season two on Netflix now.

Glamour: What is one dating or relationship rule you think is total B.S.?

Lucien Laviscount: “Come correct.” Don’t come correct! Be the worst version of yourself—that’s what I’m saying. Be the nasty, ugly version because, at the end of the day, that’s all everyone’s going to see later down the line.

Fill in the blank. I love when my partner _____.

Oh, that’s inappropriate!

It can be P.G., if you want!

I love when my partner laughs.

Is laughter one of the biggest things you’re looking for in a potential person? A sense of humor?

No, it’s just something that always happens when I’m trying to be cool and sexy. They just laugh at me. So I’ve got to try and go with it. I’ve got to make it the new thing. I’ve got to get them laughing at me.

Brett and Jason Oppenheim From ‘Selling Sunset’ Say They’re ‘Romantically Perfect’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/brett-and-jason-oppenheim-from-selling-sunset-say-theyre-romantically-perfect.html Mon, 06 Dec 2021 17:49:56 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/brett-and-jason-oppenheim-from-selling-sunset-say-theyre-romantically-perfect.html [ad_1]

Brett: No other girl got a rose for a week in Mexico! Anybody who had an anniversary that week was screwed.

Jason: I was definitely told that I set the bar too high for other people. My friends weren’t happy.

How do you top that going forward?

Jason: I don’t think I will. I also had a couple of really nice Tom Ford purses on the bed, and I flew out there and took her to dinner. People didn’t know we were dating at the time so she posted it on Instagram and made it super ambiguous, as if it was just a birthday thing and she didn’t specify.

What’s the sexiest thing about yourself?

Brett: I would say humor and wit.

Jason: Thoughtfulness and honesty.

What’s the weirdest thing you do in your alone time?

Brett: Look at baseball card auctions. Both of us like football, soccer, and baseball cards. I have a Pelé rookie card.

Jason: My favorite is a pristine Walter Payton rookie card.

Do you think being baseball card collectors is one of the sexiest things about you?

Jason: It’s probably the least sexy thing. I try to show Chrishell, and she’ll just tease me like, “Look how nice those corners are!”

Brett: Neither of our girls think it’s sexy at all.

Tell me about the most interesting person to slide into your DMs.

Brett: After the show launches we get hundreds of ridiculous DMs, none of which are appropriate for any media. Ours aren’t as ridiculous as the ones the girls get. They get crazy ones from prison and all over the place.

Jason: We get everything from people asking us to buy them a car to nudity to clients. The cute ones are when husbands want me to send videos to their wives for their birthdays, which I always do.

Jason, Simu Liu famously slid into Chrishell’s DMs, which led to him appearing on the show this season. Many fans are “shipping” the two of them. What do you have to say to the Simu-shell shippers?

Jason: Oh, that does not surprise me. Chrishell gets a lot of men reaching out to her on Instagram. You know how you have a lot of folders on Instagram, and then there’s, like, a general folder? We actually sit together every couple months and we’ll go through our “general” and compare them and just laugh because we have people hitting on us.

I would imagine Chrishell’s DMs are a bit wilder than yours.

Jason: Mine are people who want to join the office. Hers are people who want to…date her.

Prepare to Fall in Love With ‘Love Life’ Star William Jackson Harper https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/prepare-to-fall-in-love-with-love-life-star-william-jackson-harper.html Tue, 26 Oct 2021 17:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/prepare-to-fall-in-love-with-love-life-star-william-jackson-harper.html [ad_1]

This season also explored other aspects of relationships and marriages, like cheating. Do you feel emotional cheating is the same as physical cheating?

I don’t. It’s not to say that it shouldn’t be discussed. That it isn’t a transgression of sorts, because it is. But I think that it’s more like, we’re all just humans bumping into each other. I think that you’re going to be attracted to people that are not your partner. I feel like that’s natural. To have the restraint to not act upon that physically is, I think, part of being in a commitment—having those urges and being like, “You know what, I’m not going to act on that because I don’t want to blow up my life, I don’t want to hurt this person that matters more to me than the gratification I would get in this moment.”

But I think that going down the rabbit hole emotionally with another person, that’s still you hiding something from your person that you really shouldn’t be hiding from them. You’re still opening up to someone else in a way that you should be opening up to your person. I do think that there is a transgression, but I feel like there’s some credit to be given for restraint when it comes to not acting on it physically.

Have you ever cheated in a relationship, or been cheated on?

No. No, I’ve never cheated, and I haven’t actually been cheated on. I guess it’s like…I don’t consider it being cheated on. There have been moments where something felt a little questionable when it came to certain partners that I’ve had before that I’m like, “Huh, Is that okay? I’m not sure if that’s okay,” but I wouldn’t consider it cheating. It was just something that sort of stuck out to me as something to be unpacked.

This season delves into a relationship between a Black man and a Black woman. Would you describe this season as a look into Black love or just love?

I think just love. It’s not like we’re ignoring race. We’re not ignoring the nuances of being a Black person operating and maneuvering within certain white spaces, and we’re not ignoring the connection that some Black people have for each other that is sort of unspoken and just comes up without any effort. But I don’t think that we’re specifically just to show Black love. We’re just looking at a love story where one of the aspects of the limbs we’re viewing this story through is Blackness.

There are a lot of random dates in this season. What is your ideal romantic evening?

Ideal romantic evening? Because I’m so nonromantic, I think maybe going to a basketball game. I’ve taken my girlfriend to a basketball game, and she loved it. I like seeing how happy she was and how much fun she had. That was great. Hanging out, going to a basketball game, going and grabbing a drink at a nice cocktail bar or something, something quiet that isn’t so loud that you can’t talk to each other, but it’s not like dead either. And then just sort of taking a long walk. That’s my jam. It all starts with the basketball game because you got to start with something that’s a lot of fun. Your date’s got to be really fucking hyped about the activity in some capacity.

Scott Speedman Is Down to Return for ‘You’ Season 4 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/scott-speedman-is-down-to-return-for-you-season-4.html Tue, 19 Oct 2021 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/scott-speedman-is-down-to-return-for-you-season-4.html [ad_1]

Oh, yeah, I can imagine that too. His story of revenge hasn’t been fully written yet. That’s what’s interesting about the character.

Jumping into some date night questions: Are you into rom-coms?

I do like rom-coms a lot. I have a soft spot for the movie It’s Complicated. I don’t know what happened to me. I was filming a movie in Montreal where I was playing a dark guy with dark material, and we were shooting a lot of nights. I would walk around on the weekends by myself, and I wandered into a multiplex and watched It’s Complicated, and Nancy Meyers completely transported me.

I thought Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin were tremendous. I was so charmed by that movie, I think I went back and watched it a second time at the same theater.

What dating or relationship rule do you think is bullshit?

Well, they’re two different things. I would say for dating, if it’s an early, casual thing, the rule about taking three days to text or call seems like nonsense to me. I was always very right on it, and I would text the next day. The fake casualness or trying to be cool didn’t seem so great to me.

If you’re in long-term relationship, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with spending one night alone every once in a while in a second bedroom. There’s nothing wrong with that. I think that can be kind of a good thing, if you need a little staycation. Nobody should get their feelings hurt.

Fun fact: Natalie and Matthew slept in two different bedrooms in You

Netflix

You have a full day to binge-watch whatever you want. What do you pick?

You can go two different ways: You can go sort of highbrow television like Succession. I’m so consumed now with the Netflix model that you get sort of frustrated that Succession and these other shows only come out once a week. So I could do that in a big binge. Or I could do a Dateline, just continuously. Or 48 Hours. The “it’s always the husband” murder shows, I can binge no problem.

Manny Jacinto Has Seen Your Tweets About His Cheekbones https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/manny-jacinto-has-seen-your-tweets-about-his-cheekbones.html Wed, 18 Aug 2021 17:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/manny-jacinto-has-seen-your-tweets-about-his-cheekbones.html [ad_1]

You probably know Manny Jacinto best from the NBC comedy series The Good Place, which is why his role in Hulu’s new show Nine Perfect Strangers may surprise you. While there is comedy in this new miniseries—based on the popular Liane Moriarty novel about nine strangers who embark on a 10-day wellness retreat—Jacinto isn’t the one delivering it. He plays Yao, an employee at Tranquillum House, the resort run by the mysterious, ethereal Marsha (Nicole Kidman). He’s devoted to Marsha and her practices, even when his girlfriend, Delilah (Tiffany Boone), also an employee, starts questioning them. But what is the truth? Is Tranquillum House a groundbreaking wellness mecca? Or is something more sinister at play? That’s what you’ll spend eight episodes trying to find out.

“There’s a lot of energy [around this show] and its similarities to Big Little Lies and The Undoing,” Jacinto tells me. “If people are fans of those two shows, I think they’ll have the same admiration for this one. It’s a good, really enthralling story in regards to how all these strangers are coming together, the conflicts they’re having, and how they’re all connected.”

In honor of Nine Perfect Strangers’ premiering, we asked Jacinto to participate in Glamour’s Inappropriate Questions series, where we ask your favorite celebrities all the things best saved for a second (or third) date. Read on for Jacinto’s thoughts on relationship rules, astrology, and what he finds sexy about himself. Spoiler alert: He literally started sweating when I asked him that last one.

Glamour: What classic relationship or dating rule do you think actually holds up?

Manny Jacinto: That you can’t be friends with your exes. A lot of people think it’s bullshit and that you can be friends. But for me, in my experience, you just can’t. If I take into account my new partner’s feelings—we all, at the end of the day, would like to think we don’t get jealous or don’t have any insecurities. But I feel if you really care about your partner and their feelings and take into account their insecurities, it’d be so much easier for them if they don’t have to worry about whether or not you still have feelings for an ex if you’re still friends with them.

Fill in this blank for me. I love when my partner…

I actually love when my partner busts into the most ridiculous, silly song-and-dance number. I’m a sucker for somebody who’s silly and weird.

What do you think is the sexiest thing about yourself?

I don’t know if I agree, but I feel like the consensus on Twitter has been my cheekbones. But I don’t know. I really don’t know what’s sexy about me, to be honest. I’m going to say this just because I get comments from both men and women for this. It’s such a weird comment, but—I can’t believe I’m saying this—the veins on my arms. I remember Dax Shepard was on set one day, and he came up to me and was like, “Dude, I dig the vascularity in your arms,” or something. I’m sweating right now. Can we put a disclaimer in the article that I’m drenched in sweat?

What is the weirdest thing you do in your alone time?

I feel like I have uneven eyebrows. So sometimes I will just sit there and I’ll raise my right eyebrow to try and even it out, almost like an exercise. Does that make any sense?

Screw, marry, kill: Weed, pizza, or a cocktail?

Jake Lacy Played the Most Convincing Douchebag on ‘The White Lotus’—Here’s How He Did It https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/jake-lacy-played-the-most-convincing-douchebag-on-the-white-lotus-heres-how-he-did-it.html Mon, 16 Aug 2021 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/jake-lacy-played-the-most-convincing-douchebag-on-the-white-lotus-heres-how-he-did-it.html [ad_1]

Jake Lacy: I can be very stubborn about my taste. When I was younger it was a lot of, “If you think this is cool, you must be an idiot because only an idiot would like those things.” Now I’m like, “It’s not for me, but if it’s for you, just enjoy. Go to town, man.”

Primarily with cultural things, or across the board?

Clothes, films, TV shows. I had a lot of judgment for multi-cam [shows]. I’d be like, “Who would watch that?” But now I’m like, “Who the fuck are you, Jake, to be like, ‘If it’s not The Wire then I don’t know why people watch it’?”

Have you eased up on your own personal taste?

I went down the Bachelor road for a couple of years, but then I was too grossed out and had to walk away. I used to listen to Neil Young all the time. Now I still listen to Neil Young, but I also listen to SZA and Doja Cat. There’s a whole breadth of things where I’m like, “Let’s investigate the rest of the world, Jake. Not just white guys with guitars in the early ’70s.”

Fill in this blank for me. I love when my partner…
