Even after over two decades of marriage, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith are still working on their relationship—and as clichéd as it sounds, communication for them is the key. Especially in the bedroom. 

During a recent Red Table Talk, Pinkett Smith opened up about what she’s learned about being a good partner, including letting go of certain “fantasies.”

“It’s hard,” the mother of two said, per E! Online, “The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey. We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old. That’s why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know, especially when it comes to sex. It’s like, ‘Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.’ That’s a huge pitfall.”

She continued, “You tell me what you need. Tell me what you want, and on top of it, I know that I have to be accountable to do the same…. I really try. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s deeply healthy, and I think around sex, because it’s something that we don’t talk about and there’s so much fantasy around it.”

Jada Pinkett Smith’s guest, Gwyneth Paltrow, agreed, asking, “Isn’t it weird, though? It’s like someone doesn’t read your mind and we feel crushed.” Amen.

Paltrow, who is now married to producer Brad Falchuk, recently opened up about giving birth to her daughter, Apple, via emergency C-section. On Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Paltrow revealed (per People), “My daughter was an emergency. It was crazy—we almost died. It was, like, not good.” The actor and Goop founder didn’t go into more detail about the event but did mention that the ensuing scar was a little shocking. “Anyway, there’s a big scar across your body, and you’re like, ‘Oh, wow, that didn’t use to be there,’” she said. “And it’s not that it’s bad, or you want to judge it, but you’re just like, ‘Oh my God.’”

What better way to spend your birthday than in your birthday suit? Actor and lifestyle entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow commemorated her recent 49th birthday on Instagram with a picture of herself taking a leisurely soak in the tub under the moonlight. Casual.

In the makeup-free pic, Paltrow sits in an old-fashioned bathtub, her finger and toenails painted a dark color and a gold chain around her neck. But other than that, well, she’s taking a bath. She covers her chest with her hands and smiles calmly for the camera. There are two pairs of eyeglasses nearby, so we’re making an educated guess that her husband, producer Brad Falchuk, is with her and probably took the pic.

“Happy birthday beautiful!?” commented Paris Hilton on the picture. “Brilliant pic. Happy birthday beautiful ?,” added Naomi Watts, while Issa Rae wrote, “Happy birthday! ” Paltrow turned 49 on Monday, September 27.

Per her Instagram Stories, it looks like the original Goopster is staying at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Milan. She tagged the hotel’s account in her quick shot of a record player, which they reposted with the message, “Thank you for staying with us.”

The very next day Gwyneth Paltrow posted a picture with her son, Moses, whom she shares with ex Chris Martin, in honor of National Sons Day. “Total heart melter,” she captioned the pic of the two of them in a car in the countryside, a sleeping dog on Moses’s lap.

Never one to play favorites, Paltrow also dedicated a grid post to National Daughters Day on September 25, writing to 17-year-old Apple, “Oh man do I love you.”

Clearly living her best life, Paltrow has also mastered the art of being a supportive ex. She’s besties with Martin and recently gave her seal of approval to her other ex Ben Affleck’s rekindled romance with Jennifer Lopez. When Bennifer 2.0 hit the red carpet in Venice, Paltrow took to Instagram to gush over their relationship. “Okay, this is cute,” she commented on a slideshow of the two of them.

Ben Affleck just got another seal of approval from an ex over his rekindled relationship with Jennifer Lopez.

On September 11, Gwyneth Paltrow showed her support for the couple in a sweet Instagram comment after one of Lopez’s stylists, Mariel Haenn, shared a photo from their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival. 

“Okay, this is cute,” Paltrow wrote underneath the slideshow of Bennifer 2.0 staring into each other’s eyes and kissing at the premiere of Affleck’s new movie, The Last Duel. Lopez looked particularly stunning in a white couture dress by Georges Shobeika, while Affleck was handsome as ever in a classic tuxedo. 

While Affleck’s relationship with Lopez from 2002-2004 was heavily documented and immortalized in pop culture history, fans of Paltrow didn’t forget that the Goop mogul also dated the Good Will Hunting actor on and off for years until 2000. The former couple met in 1997 and costarred in two films together, Shakespeare In Love (1998) and the rom-com Bounce (2000). 

“Girl!! You are the coolest for your comment!!!” one fan replied to Paltrow, per E!, while another wrote “move on game is unmatched” in the comments of a screenshot of the interaction by @commentsbycelebs. Obviously, it’s been over 20 years, but it’s still always nice to see exes supporting exes.

Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t Ben Affleck’s only ex who approves of Jennifer Lopez. Back when reports that the couple had reunited after 20 years were still mostly unconfirmed rumors, a source revealed to Entertainment Tonight that “[Jennifer Garner] isn’t bothered by Ben hanging out with J.Lo or anyone else. She wants what is best for Ben.” At the time, the source also said, “What matters most to her is Ben being a great dad….They’ve been in a good groove when it comes to co-parenting for a while, and their kids’ happiness is Jen’s main priority.”

Garner and Affleck were married from 2005-2018 and share three children together. Lopez has two kids with her ex-husband, Marc Antony. In June, another source shared that “J. Lo has Jennifer Garner’s seal of approval.” That insider also told Us Weekly that “J. Lo thinks Jennifer is a kind and wonderful person and an amazing mother.”

Chris Martin came up in Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest interview, and let’s just say the pair are on very good terms. 

“I mean, it’s funny. He was over here yesterday,” she said on the premiere episode of Shop Today With Jill Martin on June 17. “And [Apple] came through, and she’s like, you know, she’s taller than me now. [Chris and I] just, like, looked at each other. We were like, ‘How did this go by so quickly?’ He’s like my brother. You know, he’s my family.”

How often have you heard someone refer to their ex as a brother? Well, Paltrow and Martin, who share two children, have always been unconventional. The pair famously popularized the term “conscious uncoupling” in 2014 before officially divorcing in 2016.

“I love him,” she continued, per Today. “And I’m so grateful to him for giving me these kids. It worked out well…. You know, it really did, I have to say.”

This interview lines up with statements made by Gwyneth Paltrow in recent months. During an April appearance on Anna Faris’s podcast, Unqualified, she said she “never would have wanted” to break things off with her former husband.

Paltrow said her split with Martin led to a healthy relationship with her current husband, writer-producer Brad Falchuk. “I had learned more about myself through that process than I could have imagined,” she said. “And because I focused on accountability, I was then able to find the most amazing man and build something that I’ve never had before.”

Paltrow and Falchuk could also be considered unconventional. Before the pandemic the actor shared that she and her husband don’t share a home full-time. Instead, she told Sunday Times in 2019, he stays with her four nights a week; the rest of the week he spends at his own place. 

“All my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal,” she said at the time.

Gwyneth Paltrow just made her first appearance on Goop’s TikTok account and it was perfect, thanks to her costar, Apple Martin.

On April 4, the actor and entrepreneur took to Instagram to share a lovely selfie with her 16-year-old lookalike daughter. “Exciting new product launch today featuring one of the absolute loves of my life,” Paltrow wrote in the caption. While the photo was sweet, the product launch on TikTok was a full-on roast!

Over on the video-sharing app, Martin narrated her mom’s morning routine, highlighting her new GoopGlow Morning Skin Superpowder, which the Goop website describes as “a power shot” of antioxidants meant to reduce the effects that the sun and stress have on your skin. 

“So first, my mom drinks her GoopGlow Superpowder—and she eats nothing except for dates and almond butter so she will have that,” Martin shared as Paltrow mixed in the powder with a glass of water. “I suppose the GoopGlow is a part of her cleanse which she’s been on since the day I was born, apparently.” (In case you were wondering, Martin was born in 2004.)

In the video, which Paltrow captioned, “When you get roasted by your gen z daughter,” Martin continued to chronicle her mom’s schedule, poking more and more fun at Paltrow as time went on. 

“It’s 8 a.m., and she’s been doing this since 7 a.m.,” Martin said over her mom’s skincare routine. “She just prances around the bathroom putting on her millions of GoopGlow products for her glowing skin. Then she gets to work making some more vagina eggs and candles…and vagina perfumes…and just everything vagina. Yeah, that’s my mom’s morning routine!”

While Gwyneth Paltrow is clearly secure enough to make jokes about her brand—or let her daughter do it for her—there’s a serious reason behind all of those vagina-scented products. 

“It’s all part of the crumbling patriarchy. You have to push, you have to go too far. You have to have a ‘WAP’ song or a ‘Smells Like My Vagina’ candle,” Paltrow told Elle in September 2020. “So people are like, ‘What is this?’ And they freak out. And then the center moves a little bit more this way. It’s a process that happens over time. But women, especially my generation, and my mother’s generation, we were raised to feel so uncomfortable with ourselves and it’s bullshit. It’s not cool. We have to be integrated and love ourselves, love every part and integrate all of the parts of ourselves.”

Thankfully, it looks like she’s passing on all that confidence to her daughter.

Gwyneth Paltrow is opening up about what she learned and gained from her divorce.

During a recent appearance on Anna Faris’ podcast, Unqualified, Paltrow said she “never would have wanted” to break things off with Chris Martin, her former husband of 11 years. The couple famously “consciously uncoupled” in 2014 and officially divorced in 2016. 

“I never would have wanted to get divorced,” she told Faris, per Harper’s Bazaar. “I never would have wanted to not be married to the father of my kids. Theoretically.” The pair have remained close and share a 16-year-old daughter, Apple, and a 14-year-old son, Moses. 

Still, Paltrow said her split with Martin led to a healthy relationship with her current husband, writer-producer Brad Falchuk. “I had learned more about myself through that process than I could have imagined,” she said. “And because I focused on accountability, I was then able to find the most amazing man and build something that I’ve never had before.”

Back in August 2020, Gwyneth Paltrow penned an essay for Vogue U.K. about accepting that her marriage to Martin was over. “It was my birthday, my 38th. My ex-husband and I were tucked away in the Tuscan countryside, on a hill in a beautiful cottage with a view of the forest,” she wrote at the time. “I don’t recall when it happened, exactly. I don’t remember which day of the weekend it was or the time of day. But I knew—despite long walks and longer lie-ins, big glasses of Barolo and hands held—my marriage was over.”

The Goop founder was able to admit that she and Martin “didn’t quite fit” as a couple. “There was always a bit of unease and unrest,” she continued. “But man, did we love our children.” It would take three more years before they split.

Ultimately, Paltrow wrote that both Martin and Falchuk—whom she does not live with full time—have played different, yet equally important roles in her life. “I know my ex-husband was meant to be the father of my children,” Paltrow wrote, “and I know my current husband is meant to be the person I grow very old with. Conscious uncoupling lets us recognize those two different loves can coexist and nourish each other.”

On a recent episode of her podcast, Unqualified, Anna Faris revealed the issues in her own personality that she thinks contributed to problems in her marriages.

Speaking frankly to Gwyneth Paltrow about learning from divorce, Faris said (per People), “My two other marriages were with actors, and I don’t think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness.

“Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person and not wanting to reveal vulnerability,” she continued.

Faris was married to Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008 and to Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt from 2009 to 2018. She and Pratt share a son, Jack. 

When Faris and Pratt met, they both were known primarily for their work in comedies—and they weren’t necessarily huge stars. But when Pratt joined the Marvel universe, he became a leading man.

“Any hint of competitiveness and comparison, I didn’t handle that very well, I don’t think,” Faris said about her marriages, though she didn’t specify whether she was talking about Pratt or Indra. “I hope I’ve grown from that.”

Since the split, both Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have gone on to find love with new partners. Faris is engaged to cinematographer Michael Barrett, and Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, with whom he shares a baby girl. 

On the same episode Paltrow opened up about her own divorce from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and her second marriage to producer Brad Falchuk. Still on famously good terms with Martin, Paltrow said, “I never would’ve wanted to get divorced; I never would’ve wanted to not be married to the father of my kids, theoretically.”

That being said, Paltrow told Faris (per USA Today) that she’s “learned so much” from the process. “Because I focused on accountability, I was then able to find the most amazing man and build something that I never had before with Brad, my husband,” she said.
