And then at night, if I’m wearing makeup I like to remove it with a micellar water. La Roche-Posay has a really good one.

My serum

I usually only use one in the morning, especially because if I’m going to work, I’m going to be wearing a mask for a long period of time and I don’t like to layer too many things. I really like the Murad Vitamin C Plus Glycolic Brightening Serum. That’s because you get your antioxidants with the vitamin C, but it also harnesses the vitamin C pigment fighting properties with the glycolic acid. It’s a nice, all in one very lightweight serum that I use the morning.

My moisturizers

I tend to follow my vitamin C with the La Roche-Posay Double Repair. I actually use the one with SPF in the morning if I’m going to work, just because I’m really only seeing the sun during my commute. And then if it’s the weekend and I’m going to be out and about, I’ll layer Supergoop sunscreen on top of it.

At night I use either the same moisturizer or if I’ve been feeling pretty dry, I may use the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It’s a good mix of very hydrating, soothing on the skin, but not too heavy. It’s one of the newer things in my routine that I’ve been really happy with.

My mist

I love the Avène thermal mist. Mostly I’ll use it after makeup if I feel like my makeup’s looking a little too done and I want to look very natural and dewy. I’ll also use it sometimes throughout the day, especially if I’m working from home or I’m spending a lot of time indoors. Just to refresh my face if I feel like it’s very dry.

My retinol

At night, I keep it pretty simple. I do use a prescription grade retinoid. I use one that’s called Arazlo. I’m not really a spot treatment person, but if I get the occasional breakout, I use it as a spot treatment as well.

My eye cream

I’m lazy with it, but I do use an eye cream. It’s the Perricone High Potency Growth Factor Firming and Lifting Eye Serum.  I also use the Perricone neck cream, that’s one of my favorites.

My lip balm

I’m a big fan of the EOS line of lip balm, it’s fun and effective.

My in-office treatments

Botox is everyone’s favorite! I’ve been getting Botox since my mid-twenties. I usually do an office-grade chemical peel once a year, usually in the fall time when the skin gets very congested. And then lately I’ve been really into, because we’re talking about healthy aging, things that stimulate collagen production—microneedling, high frequency, Clear + Brilliant— those very low downtime procedures. I’m not a huge facial person, it’s mostly kind of diligence skincare routine and an in office procedure.

Julian Addo Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/julian-addo-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Tue, 08 Feb 2022 20:10:05 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/julian-addo-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

Julian Addo is a firm believer in products that work. It’s a simple thing to ask, but in today’s beauty landscape it’s hard to find quality over frills. This, paired with the fact that she didn’t feel there was truly a brand that understood natural hair, is what drove Addo to launch her brand Adwoa Beauty in 2017. With over 10 years of experience in the hair industry—as a stylist, salon owner and blogger, plus a career in banking—Addo was armed with the knowledge needed to create a brand that properly cares for not only curls, but all hair types. The line combines the best of nature and science to enhance customers’ unique textures, and the straightforward line is easy to use—each product has a clear purpose and place in your routine.

When it comes to skin care, Addo tries to keep a similarly streamlined POV. “I honestly try to keep it as simple as possible,” she tells Glamour. “Skin care can be a really confusing and cluttered space with regards to a product and all of the things on the market. The acids and all different ingredients can really damage your skin if you don’t know what you’re doing. So I’ve been using a lot of the same products since I was 16. I stick to the basics.”

For Addo however, the basics don’t just mean cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF. She’s a major fan of exfoliation—she uses a chemical exfoliant twice a day—and anything that promises to brighten. “My skin is prone to hyperpigmentation,” she says. “Obviously, I’m more melanated, and if I get a pimple, if I don’t touch it and it just goes away on it’s own, it still leaves a scar. So I’m always trying to brighten something on my face.”

So what exactly does she swear by? Read on for the exfoliators Addo’s been using for years, the best sheet mask on the market, and the moisturizer that makes her look like a shining star in another installment of Glamour’s Drop the Routine

My cleansers

For cleansers, I cleanse day and night. I have super-oily skin. In the daytime I’ll just use something very gentle. I like the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser; it does the job of just getting the night off of my skin, but not really stripping my skin, and helps it feel really moisturized. And then in the night time I’ll switch to something that gives me a little bit more work. I like  The Inkey List salicylic acid cleanser. And then I always follow with the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant—I have a lot of scarring that I’m trying to get rid of, so anything that brightens and exfoliates and removes scars, that’s what I’m going to buy.

Fresh Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash

My toners

For toner I’ve been really loving One Thing; it’s a Korean brand. It’s kind of like K-beauty’s version of The Ordinary, because it’s a great price point, and this is a very simple-one ingredient product.  I found it on Instagram a couple years ago, and I used the Centella Asiatica Extract; it helps, again, to fade scars. So after I cleanse my face, I’ll just add a little bit on the cotton ball and just kind of wipe it all over my face day and night. And that’s the only thing that I do for a toner.

My face mask

I don’t really use essence a lot unless I’m doing a face mask. If I’m doing one, I love Too Cool for School; it’s another K-beauty brand. I think their Egg Cream Mask is the best mask on the market. There’s no sheet mask that is superior, in my opinion. They give you so much essence in the packet, and I’ll do that twice a week, and I’ll put the essence all over my face and all over my neck. You don’t want to forget your neck!

My serum

I like the Rose Ingleton MD Complexion Brightening Booster Serum. It helps with brightening your complexion and scarring.

My exfoliators

A staple in my routine for forever is these two liquid exfoliators. One is uber popular Paula’s Choice 2% BHA. I love that in the daytime, it gives me a dewy glow. And then another cult favorite that I use at nighttime, which is a similar product, a little bit different, is the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50v 1970. I use both everyday, which I know surprises everyone! My skin can take a lot. I don’t really use anything specific for spot treatments, but that P50 really helps, I’ll put it on my skin if I have a breakout, and when I wake up in the morning, the breakout is no longer protruding.

My moisturizers

I use that P50 at night, so my skin is getting a lot of exfoliating. So I like to go in at night with something super, super heavy. And for the last several years I’ve been loving the Weleda Skin Food. I go to bed looking like a shining star. I’ll  plaster it all over my face, under my eyes, everywhere. And I’ll go to bed with that.

For day moisturizers I’m currently loving Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream. I alternate that and the Rose Ingleton MD Signature Moisturizer; I really love her moisturizer as well. I always use something lighter in the day, because I use that heavy Weleda Skin Food at night. So I just go for a light, light finish in the daytime. But I do pair it with the Flora + Bast Age Adapting Facial Serum with CBD. It says “serum,” but it’s an oil. I’ll put that on first, and then my moisturizer is last.

My eye cream

I really haven’t found an eye cream that I love. I was playing around with the Tatcha Peony Eye Cream, but I don’t know. I haven’t really found anything that I noticed a difference. I have dark sunken-in undereyes—I don’t have the puffiness. Mine is sunken in, and it’s hereditary. So I was told there’s nothing I can do about it besides Botox. I just make sure that that area is moisturized since it’s so thin. I’ll use the Weleda at night, to be honest.

My SPF

I love the Unseen Sunscreen from Supergoop. I love the brand, and I’ll use that daily because most days I’m not wearing any makeup. And then on some days that I want something a little bit more, I like the Tower 28 Beauty SunnyDays SPF tinted sunscreen, I really love that. If I just want to look a little bit more put-together that day, I’ll use that.

My lip balm

I’m obsessed over the Lanolips salves. All flavors—coconut, strawberry, I have them all! I do like the Laneige lip mask, and there’s also a lip mask by One Thing, that K-beauty brand that I use at night. Got to keep the lips moisturized!

My treatments

I have started going to an aesthetician for a lot of chemical peels and facials. Just something a little bit more and faster than all these products can do.

Brooke Shields Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/brooke-shields-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Tue, 11 Jan 2022 16:53:21 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/brooke-shields-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

The snow is falling outside of Brooke Shields‘s home in the Hamptons when the actor/model/entrepreneur calls me on a recent weekday afternoon. She’s wondering how she’s going to get back to the city, but at the same time, seems to be enjoying the chance to sit still and take in the beauty of her surroundings.

Acknowledging that privilege is something Shields wants to focus more on, whether it’s career opportunities or her body. Although she’s been in the public eye since her teen years, the 56-year-old is more excited than ever about the year ahead.

The reason? Beginning is Now, a global gathering place for women looking for their second, third, fourth, or even fifth act in life, that Shields launched last year. “So many women that I know are pivoting in the most unbelievable way—starting careers, starting businesses, quitting their job, or just learning skills,” she tells Glamour. “They’ve had families, they’ve had their jobs, and they sort of say okay, what’s next?” Shields calls it a 360-degree wellbeing brand, with wellbeing as the destination and wellness as the path to get there.

That’s why it was also a no-brainer for the married mom-of-two to join forces with revered clean skin-care brand True Botanicals as their newest spokesperson. While teenage Brook was obsessed with makeup and skin-care (“My mom worked at the makeup counter at a department store, so I became so interested in everything from eye creams to masks to facials,” she says) she also learned that a simple but consistent routine is best.

“We don’t really think of our skin as an organ, but it is the largest organ of the body. So as I got older, I started enjoying the ritual or the idea that it’s not a chore to take care of your skin…it’s a privilege,” she says. “It doesn’t have to be 20 minutes. It can be seven minutes.”

And thanks to a combination of professional treatments and tried-and-true products, she’s learned what works to keep her skin looking its best, while also embracing the privilege that it is to age.

So, for Glamour‘s latest Drop the Routine, the star of the recent Netflix Christmas movie, A Castle for Christmas, fills us in on the doctors she visits and the products always on her vanity.

My treatments

I go to Dr. Liz Hale for sun damage and sun spots, such as Fraxel. I primarily go to Dr. Macrene Alexiades for treatments, such as peels and the Genesis treatment. I just don’t want a lot of pain or downtime. Macrene has a really, really, really powerful laser treatment that is removing a tattoo that I have. But I don’t wanna change the shape of my face; I just want the quality of my skin to be optimal. I have lines around my mouth, but if I touch them up, I won’t look like myself.

My cleanser

True Botanicals Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm, which dissolves everything. You don’t have to use any soap. I mainly cleanse just at night. In the morning, I’ll just throw water on my face and maybe do a face mask if I have time.

My vitamin C

We all have sun spots or age spots, so I started using the True Botanicals Vitamin C Booster, which is a powder. I’ll put a concentrated amount like a little paste, and at night I’ll put it on the dark spots. Over time it lightens up. It stays potent until the last minute. When it’s a liquid, it loses its potency.

My moisturizing cream

True Botanicals Chebula Extreme Cream, which just launched earlier this year. There’s no wax in it. There’s no petroleum, but it has the richness. It smells so good. It really does help with the reduction of the appearance of fine lines and dehydrated skin.

My serum

Chebula Active Serum from True Botanicals. I mix it with the Vitamin C booster, which dissolves nicely into the serum. You can put it in oils, too, but I like putting it on as one of the first steps in my skin-care routine.

My face oil

True Botanicals Renew Pure Radiance Oil. I was always afraid of oil and that it was  gonna be greasy. But what I love is that my skin absorbs it immediately and then feels more moisturized.

My eye cream

I love the True Botanicals Radiance Eye Cream. The eye cream is so rich; that’s what I use every morning. I warm it up first with my fingertips and sometimes I’ll take a tool I keep in the freezer and roll it around the eye area to help absorb the eye cream. The coolness of the tools, plus the cream really helps with the fine lines around my eyes. I also put it on right when I get on an airplane, and it helps take down any puffiness I get.

My lip balm

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I get the original berry one. It’s so good and moisturizing.

My face mist

Tata Harper Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Floral Essence. This brand was one of the first to be really clean beauty. And the mist is like a wake-up call for your face. Plus, the packaging is so pretty…those glass bottles.

My hand/body cream

During COVID I started using products from Long Island Livestock Company. They have this Shepherdess Body Butter in Honey Almond and it’s so thick, and pure lanolin. I was washing my hands and sanitizing so much that my skin got so cracked, but then I started using this every day and it just saved my skin. I put it on when I go to bed, sometimes using those little white museum gloves. I look like a crazy person. [Laughs] I’m sure my husband will divorce me, but, you know, my hands will be nice.

My sunscreen

I just started using Supergoop! Glow Screen SPF 40. It’s really glow-y.

My lash serum

GrandeLASH Enhancing Serum on my eyelashes and they make them grow. They really are a lovely company.

Pro Race Car Driver Samantha Tan Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/pro-race-car-driver-samantha-tan-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Wed, 05 Jan 2022 17:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/pro-race-car-driver-samantha-tan-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

Samantha Tan considers herself a beauty lover, but the professional race car driver’s introduction to skin care was less than enjoyable.

“One of my most vivid memories from childhood, unfortunately, was when I was in kindergarten and my eczema used to be terrible,” Tan tells me over the phone. “It was all over my face and the skin above my lips used to always be raw. The other kids used to think I was contagious, even though obviously eczema is not contagious. It’s something that stayed with me for a long time. I would always wear long-sleeved clothes and long pants. I never wanted to show my skin. Even up until now, I’m still learning how to accept my scars.”

She adds, cheerily, “It’s part of me, and I got to learn to love it.” That same infectious optimism shines through when Tan discusses her successful career. In 2021, Samantha Tan Racing made history by becoming the first Canadian team to win the renowned 24H DUBAI; she also became the first Asian woman to win a major endurance racing series championship in the world.

“I think representation is just so, so important,” she says of the win. “It’s so monumental. It’s so important for people to people of color to see that their stories and voices are heard and for me to be the first one is amazing, but I also don’t want to be the last one.”

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Tan is so passionate about encouraging others to follow in her footsteps, in fact, that she even agreed to share the secret to her skin care. Read on for Glamour’s latest Drop the Routine

My cleansers

To take off my makeup, I use a micellar water. Even if you’re drunk and tired, you just got to do it. And that’s funny because every time, somehow, when I get home—blackout drunk sometimes—I’m able to still take off my makeup. [Laughs.] I use the Bioderma one, which was recommended to me by my aunt, and then I’ll go in with the CeraVe, which I definitely found because of TikTok. I also use the FOREO Luna Mini.

‘Cobra Kai’ Star Courtney Henggeler Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/cobra-kai-star-courtney-henggeler-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Fri, 31 Dec 2021 18:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/cobra-kai-star-courtney-henggeler-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

Obviously that’s not the case, which is part of the reason why Henggeler doesn’t look at aging with as much fear as she used to. “I’m 43—I do have lines in my face that I take away. Let’s be honest about that. I don’t spend money on purses or shoes, but skin-care, I do,” she says.

She started seeing renowned cosmetic dermatologist Shereene Idriss, M.D. in New York City a few years ago to help fill out the hollows around her cheekbones and hasn’t looked back. “Dr. Shereene does a mix of micro filler for me. She never touches the inside of my face. She fills out the [hollows], which plumps up the area around my orbital bone to give me a little lift. I go once a year,” Henggeler says.

It’s the kind of treatment that looks so natural, you’d never know Henggeler does anything, though she frequently jokes that she loves the look of a frozen face. But in addition to using injectables, plus the lotions and potions that Henggeler swears by (more on that below), she’s very disciplined when it comes to what she eats. The married mom of two—and reformed “sugar junkie”—cut out sugar not long ago and says it cleared up her skin and helped her PMS and constant bloating: “I do believe in diet a lot for skin. And sunscreen. I was child of the ’90s who bathed herself in baby oil and laid out. I was like, ‘I’m invincible.’ Now I’m like, ‘Oh, God, I’m not.’”

Speaking of feeling vulnerable, Henggeler wasn’t feeling all that confident when she got the call to audition for Cobra Kai, which premieres its fourth season on New Year’s Eve. “I was over it,” she says of acting. “I had my first kid and was like, ‘I think I need to change career paths.’ I was hustling since I was 20 years old, and I was tired of it all and not getting any further. But I needed health insurance.”

And then, as luck—and timing—would have it, the role of Amanda LaRusso came along. “Thank God, because I do love acting,” she says. “It’s nice to do it on this show in a role I love, where she’s the one who gets to call it like it is. It’s fantastic.”

Much like Henggeler herself. And so, for Glamour’s latest Drop the Routine, she’s giving us the lowdown on the products she swears by for her combination skin.

My cleanser

I use Bioderma micellar water as my regular cleanser. I normally don’t wear foundation, but when I do for work, I use an oil cleanser from Sulwhasoo that I got at Sephora since it’s all about keeping the moisture in as I get older. I felt like I used to strip my skin in my 20s and 30s with those sonic devices, so now I try to use the most gentle cleansers. And I just wash my face at night.

My toner and essence

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 PIGM for pigmentation because of the sunspots I have. And then I use the Vintner’s Daughter essence. I don’t know exactly what they do, but I just know I needed it. I invested a lot of money in these products, so I’m not going to not use them!

My serum

I was using a lot of serums, and now I’ve pared down to just one with vitamin C. That’s really all I need. I really like the Maya Chia Vitamin C serum

My moisturizer

Augustinus Bader’s The Cream. I love the way it feels. And I use the La Mer Moisturizing Cream in the winter. I warm it up into my hands and then press it into my face. I remember hearing that J.Lo used La Mer like 20 years ago; from then on, it was on my radar. The day I bought it, I think I cried a little tear. I was like, “You’re here, Courtney. You’ve gotten to the place where you too can now own a jar of La Mer.” It was a right of passage for me.

My eye cream

Susanne Kaufmann’s Eye Cream Line A. I stopped using an eye cream for a little bit and then noticed how dry my eye area was, so I realized I needed to go back to using one. It just feels so good, so I recommend Susanne Kaufmann’s, which I get at Violet Grey.

My face mask

Biologique Recherche’s Masque Vivant. It looks like you’re putting chocolate all over your face. I read somewhere that if you use it twice a week, you’ll never age. I don’t know if that’s true, but it feels like it. I tell myself it’s working, especially when I’ve had a lot of makeup on my face all week.

My retinol

I use the Maya Chia The Straight A Advanced Gentle Retinol Treatment. It doesn’t ever feel drying. My skin feels great the morning after I use it, so I’m a big fan of that.

My face oil

I have so many face oils, but I love True Botanicals Renew Pure Radiance Face Oil, which is anti-aging as well. I love the way it smells.

My face mist

I love Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. It’s so great. And I love Caudalíe’s face mist too. It smells like antiseptic somehow, but I am obsessed with the smell. My husband’s horrified by it. I like the smell of it and even had them spray that on me on set just to keep me going during the day. I’ve got to have that face mist all over the place.

My sunscreen

I started using Suntegrity. They have a tinted five-in-one mineral sunscreen, which I love because it also really moisturizes and it’s a clean brand. It’s my favorite thing that I’ve purchased all year.

My lip balm

Ilia Tint Hydrating Lip Balm. We use it on set a lot. It’s so sheer. They’re in my purse, my car, everywhere. They’re great.

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/philippine-leroy-beaulieu-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Wed, 22 Dec 2021 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/philippine-leroy-beaulieu-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

“It was fun to play because of that and to realize that no, we need to own our age and just love it for what it is,” Leroy-Beaulieu says. “A world where people cannot age is a dangerous world. I had a talk with my daughter who’s 30 about this recently. She said, ‘Mom, I don’t want to live in a world where women cannot age.’ I think it’s important to really own this aging thing and not make it a problem, not make it something we can’t talk about. There’s no guilt or shame around aging. This is something that happens to everybody, you know?”

She continues, “I understand the insecurity, the pressure that we get, especially in our business. But if somebody doesn’t start saying, ‘This is my age, and this is who I am, my wrinkles are my wrinkles, I own my wrinkles, this is my whole life…’ it’s kind of sad. Aging gracefully is being a kinder person than you were when you were younger, because life kind of polishes you. And having a better understanding of how people feel, who people are, and having more compassion and less competition with everybody else.”

But when I tell Leroy-Beaulieu I need to know exactly what she does to look so effervescent, the answer surprises me. “The more I put on my skin, the more it feels like it’s not breathing, so I keep it super simple,” she says. “It is also what you put inside your body, which everybody knows.” She says she juices occasionally and does intermittent fasting as well; she’s also adopted a routine each September. “I do what we do a lot in Europe, ever since the Romans or even the Greeks, which is only eating green and red grapes with seeds. I did it during the shooting of season one because it was September and grapes were in season. I just did two weeks because I’d start to smell all the food on set and it would make me want something else. I got bored of the taste after a while, but generally it’s great. I don’t really lose a lot of weight—but what happens to my skin and my eyes and all my organs and my hair and everything is incredible. I don’t get tired. In fact, I get so much energy after four or five days. So that’s the kind of thing I do every year. It’s one of my secrets.” [Editor’s note: While Leroy-Beaulieu has tried this routine, diets are not a one-size-fits-all solution. Speak to your doctor before trying a new diet regimen of any kind.]

Okay, so what does Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu do when grapes aren’t in season? She drops her skin-care routine to tell us what she swears by for that Sylvie glow.

My cleanser

It’s called ZQ-11 Moisturizing Amino Acid Cleanser, and it’s a Korean brand, I believe. It was given to me by a friend, and I love it so much.

My toner

For my tonic, I just use a flower water you can get anywhere. It can be rose water, it can be orange water. Just anything really natural. I can spray it; when I feel like I need more, I just dampen a cotton pad and apply.

My serum

I use the X3M EGF Refresh Serum from Clinicare, which is a repair and protective moisturizer. It’s a very light serum, almost transparent , and it’s really hydrating. My skin type is normal, but then it gets drier in winter, obviously, so I love this product.

My essence

Clinicare’s X3M EGF Refresh Essence. This is really hydrating. It penetrates the skin, and it feels plump and fresh after you apply. If the weather isn’t too cold or too hot, I only wear this. When it’s a bit colder, I might put something else on top at night.

My moisturizing cream

I use La Fervance Éclat Extraordinaire when it’s cold and I need something else on top of my serum and essence. This is a cream that I learned about from an Australian woman who lived in Paris and is now back in Australia. It’s an incredible cream that I’ve been using for almost a year now, and I’m just crazy about it. I apply a super-thick layer at night when I feel that I’m really needing some moisture, or as a very thin mask during the day. Just make sure you really rub it in. At night you can leave it on and when you wake up, you’ll still find some under your eyes, and it’s nice knowing it hasn’t dried up during the night. It’s just a really nice cream.

My sun protection

I was raised in Italy where we’re taught since we were kids never to be in the sun at certain hours. At 12 o’clock, you get out of the sun until 4, and never stay in the sun during those hours. But I’ve never treated the sun as my enemy. It’s good. It’s your vitamin D. It’s joyful; it’s happy. While I don’t wear sunscreen, I do wear a hat and sunglasses. Or I’m in the shade.

My lip balm

I use a French brand called Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. It’s so good for dry lips.

My device

Yeah, I use a gua sha stone a little bit. I also use a derma roller that has little spikes—not needles, just little spikes. You turn red for like five minutes—and it’s great to really get the blood flowing—but then it goes away. I use it every morning.

My supplements

I also take D+ for Care Collagen & Spirulina food supplement, which is something I discovered recently. It’s really good, and I take it every morning when I wake up. You just eat it. I think it’s good for my hair and everything.

My cleansers

I always double-cleanse my skin at night. I use the Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm to remove all the makeup. And then for a cleanser, I’ll use the Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser from Eminence. It’s really great for balancing and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling super dry. It’s a probiotic cleanser that I found right after I did the skin cleanse, and I liked it because I noticed the irritation didn’t come back after I used it. I’ve been using that one ever since.

In the morning I’ll usually just wash my face with water. Especially if I have oil from the night before, I’ll just pat my skin. I’ll just throw water on my face, probably five times, to where it feels like I’m cleansing my skin. But I don’t use a washcloth. I just use my hands. It leaves the face oil from the night before, so my skin still feels fine.

My toner

I love Thayers Witch Hazel, because it’s amazing for anti-inflammation. When I was researching all the irritation that I was having at the time, so many anti-inflammatory products came up, and that’s how I found Thayers. I’m really cautious about what products I put on my skin for that reason. This one is an alcohol-free formula; it’s really hard to find witch hazel that doesn’t have alcohol, so I was interested to try it. I love using a toner before serum because I feel like it really preps my skin. It also kills acne-causing bacteria, so I have Jadyn, my daughter who’s 14, use it too.

My serums

I love serums and face oils—those are my favorite. They’re probably the majority of my skin-care closet. Right now I love using the Herbivore Cloud Jelly Plumping Hydrating Serum. And I also love the Versed clarifying serum. The plumping hydration one I like in the morning because I’m not too worried about the hydration at night because I use the facial oils. But in the morning I’m trying to use more of the hydrating serums because I’m not using an oil after my serums in the morning.

Versed Just Breathe Clarifying Serum

My face oils

I don’t use any moisturizers on my skin; I use face oils. I don’t know if it’s a mental thing, but I feel like moisturizers clog my skin. I have not gone back to them after I did the skin cleanse. I feel like it’s more for if you really need the hydration. I don’t use anything that says “face moisturizer.” If it says oil, I’ll use it.

Right now I am switching between the Honey Grail Ultra Hydrating Face Oil from Farmacy. I love that. It smells amazing. I really like the True Botanicals Pure Radiance Oil. That one’s so nice, and the smell is really great too. If it smells too off-putting, I won’t be able to use it.

My SPF

It’s the Ilia Beauty Super Skin Tint—it has SPF 40. My daughter actually uses it for her base too. I’m really big on making sure she wears a sunscreen at school, so she wears that and she also likes it because it’s almost like a tinted moisturizer in a way. I like it before my foundation because it does have that hydration, but with the zinc, it’s not a pasty-white sunblock. I really like that. I also like the Suntegrity 5-in-1 Moisturizing Sunscreen. It depends on which one I haven’t run out of because I go through them pretty quickly.

I’ve been trying to be good with sunscreen since college, because in high school I would tan my skin. I would lay out in the sun and I wasn’t super aware of it, but my mom got two spots removed on her stomach that were precancerous. That freaked me out a little bit. I also started researching a ton about prevention and just using the sunscreen every day. I’ll never tan my skin again with just regular sun. If anything, I’ll use a sunless tanner, but at the beach, I’m fully sunblocked out all over my body. My daughter thinks I’m a freak. She’s like, “Mom, I have sunblock on. I’m fine.” But I’m like, “Don’t burn your skin.”

My eye balm

I don’t use any eye creams, but I really like this stick from Tula, the Brightening Eye Balm. I like it because I can use it before my makeup. Also, I’ve just noticed my eyes are a lot more puffy now with a baby from lack of sleep. And with breastfeeding too, sometimes I feel like I just need to drink more water, but I just feel puffy in the morning, so I’ll put that on and then I’ll put on my makeup. A few hours later, I’ll put it on top again if I’m going somewhere or need a little bit of a pick-me-up. It’s nice because it has that cooling feeling and has caffeine in it.

My LED light

When I do breakout, I’ll just use my LED blue light and put nothing else on my face. The Dr. Dennis Gross LED light is what I love the most for any acne because it kills the acne-causing bacteria. My daughter actually does it too now, so she has gotten into the routine where she’s like, “Can I borrow your light mask? I feel like my skin needs a refresh.”

My “retinol”

I don’t use retinol because during my pregnancy I stopped using it, just because I didn’t want to have anything that would irritate my skin because I knew my skin was going to be even more sensitive. I found that Herbivore had a retinol alternative. It’s supposed to help with skin smoothing and the renewal but without the irritants of retinol, so I still use that about three times a week.

My lip balms

I love the Summer Fridays vanilla one. I also like the Agave Night Mask from Bite Beauty.

My masks

Because of COVID, I got out of the routine of getting facials. I’m pretty low-maintenance when it comes to facials overall. I don’t really prioritize them. If I have an extra hour, I would get my nails done versus getting a facial. I really like having masks at home that makes it feel like a salon treatment, but not having to go anywhere, especially with a newborn too.

I really love the Blue Tansy Clarifying Mask from Herbivore. It’s so good. I’m obsessed with it. And I also love the Tata Harper Clarifying Mask. Those two make me feel like I’m having that exfoliating treatment and it feels like a salon treatment at home

Rebecca Minkoff Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/rebecca-minkoff-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Tue, 07 Dec 2021 18:43:08 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/rebecca-minkoff-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

Rebecca Minkoff knows what works. After all, the designer’s eponymous clothing and accessories brand has remained relevant for 13 years, from the iconic Morning After Bag that put her on the map to merging fashion with technology in the past few years—a testament to the innate sense that she just “gets it.”

That knowledge extends to her skin-care routine, for which she’s curated products, mostly from clean brands and female founders that she connects with. “When I’m shopping for skin, it’s really about lots of moisture,” she tells Glamour. “I want a dewy, bouncy look to my skin—which, sure, every woman wants, but I’m 40, so anything that’s super wrinkle-preventative is what’s on my list. It’s pretty simple.”

But it hasn’t always been that way. Minkoff battled adult acne on and off from the ages of 20 to 28, and again when she turned 35. “As soon as I fixed my gut health, it really drastically changed my skin,” she says. “Healing the inside for me really took care of the outside.” She swears by two supplements, one that was recommended by her doctor and another that was recommended to clear up a  “red patch” on her daughter’s back as a baby. “I was like, ‘Well, what would happen if I took it?’  Within 24 hours, the redness on her back went away. And so once I took it, I was like, ‘Oh, damn, I’m never giving this up.’  And then from there, my skin-care routine became almost like a wash, then my moisturizer and that’s it.”

Below, Minkoff spills on the non-ingestible skin care she can’t live without. Read on for the latest installment of Drop the Routine

My supplements

I swear by a mineral supplement drink called Restore. Basically, with all the pesticides we eat, it destroys the insides of our intestinal lining and then toxins seep through. Obviously your skin is your largest organ, so this helps heal your gut lining. And then the one I discovered through my daughter is a probiotic called Ortho Biotic. I’m not sponsored by them or anything, but within 24 hours of me taking Ortho Biotic, the permanent redness I had always had was gone. As long as I’m consistent about that product, my skin is even-toned for the most part. I’m not wearing foundation right now.

My cleanser

At night I’ll use the In Your Face enzyme wash. It’s organic, vegan, pretty natural.

My mist

I don’t usually use a toner. I feel like it’s too drying for me, but sometimes I’ll do a little bit of Rosewater from Mario Badescu.

My serums

At night I tend to pile on as much moisture as I can. I’ll do Tata Harper’s serum followed by her Elixir Vitae, which I’m obsessed with. People are like, “You’re glowing,” and I’m like, “No, I’m not glowing; it’s Tata.” Whatever magic she has in those plants, whatever spells she’s casting in Vermont, it’s working for me.

My oils

The other brand I alternate with is Linnè, which has a Repairing Oil or a Balancing Oil. I love her products. She’s a smaller, lesser-known brand, but her stuff is incredible. At night, if I know I’m going right to bed and I’m not going out, I’ll use Vintner’s Daughter oil. I love that it feels luxurious. It smells amazing. I feel like it’s really moisturizing, and especially in the wintertime, I tend to use more oils than creams. I like having that barrier on my face. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but a derm told me that if you use moisturizer and it has water in it and you’re going outside and the cold is hitting your face, it actually freezes it, so oils are better.  If I want to do a moisturizer, Joanna Vargas has a great hydrating skin cream; the smell is unbelievable.

My eye creams

For my eye cream I’ll use Tata, or if it’s the morning I’ll use the Wander Beauty eye patches because I noticed in the last couple months when I wake up in the morning, I’m just puffy— doesn’t matter what I do. I think that’s probably due to age.

My exfoliator

If I feel like my skin’s in need of a general resurfacing, the Dr. Dennis Gross pads are unbelievable. Those are more when I need it—like if I know I have a photo shoot, I’ll do it the night before, or in the wintertime I’ll do it more because I’m not in the sun.

My masks

Honest has a great face mask; it’s that berry smoothing one. I don’t do a ton of face masks, but if I do, I think I prefer scrubs, and Linné makes a good face scrub

My acne treatments

I got this prescribed to me by a dermatologist a long time ago: topical clindamycin. I’ll put it on whatever is brewing, whatever has been picked, and that’s my spot treatment. If I feel things are getting really bad, then I just go old-school and I have Clean & Clear face wash. That did it for me back when I had adult acne, and so I don’t really know anything else. But that’s happening less and less these days. That is not usually a problem, but if I feel it’s coming on, then I’ll do that.

My sunscreen

For sunscreen, I tend to gravitate towards mineral sunscreen, so Coola makes a great one.

My lip balm

I don’t really use lip balm, but this brand Laneige, the Lip Sleeping Mask, I actually just use this as a balm. Or I’ll just go old-school and do ChapStick. I haven’t found anything to combat ChapStick. I know it has chemicals and I’m anti chemicals, but sometimes I just throw one in my purse and it saves the day.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

My treatments

I do regular Botox. I’m due for treatment. I’ve gotten out of the habit a little bit during COVID because so much was closed, but I used to try to do a facial maybe every six weeks. And for that, I’d go to Joanna Vargas.

My tools

I want to be that person who uses the gua sha. I have a face roller. I look at it every morning and I’m like, “I don’t have time for you.” When I see people on Instagram using it, that’s where my routine falls apart. I love it when women do that and they have the time for it, but I haven’t figured that out in my routine yet.

Lana Condor Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/lana-condor-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Wed, 01 Dec 2021 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/lana-condor-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

Work hard, self-care harder. That’s not how the saying goes, but if it were up to Lana Condor—who has certainly been working hard since her breakthrough role in Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before—we should all be prioritizing our mental health. “In this past year, if we’ve learned anything, we have to really take care of our ourself and our brains first before we can be good at anything else that we do in our life,” Condor tells Glamour. “Beauty starts from the inside, and if you’re not okay on the inside, then…what’s the point?”

The actor is teaming up with Victoria’s Secret Pink this holiday season to help spotlight the importance of mental health and self-care. In partnership with The Jed Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes emotional health and suicide prevention for teens in the United States, Pink and Condor are helping provide mental health resources for those in need. “Press Pause is an awesome website that has a lot of really quick and efficient tools that you can use for your mental health,” Condor says. “There’s awesome, efficient, and convenient tools that can help you prepare for the holidays, of course, but also just for life.”

A homebody at heart, Condor is all about self-care. She’s officially in “full cozy mode” for the holidays, wearing matching sweatsuits and indulging in her favorite skin-care products after a busy year of filming. “I’m working full-time, and I just finished a show,” says Condor. “The products I use are more heavy-duty and more, dare I say, aggressive, mainly because I know that they work.” Due to her hectic schedule, Condor values efficiency and convenience when choosing products for her combination skin. “When I’m working a ton, my skin leans toward dry. However, I think the health of your skin starts from inside. When I’m stressed or if I’m not eating healthy, obviously I break out. So I think a lot of it has to do with the inside first.”

So what helps Condor feel beautiful inside and out? Read on for her essential products in another installment of Drop the Routine

My cleanser

Currently I use the iS Clinical Cleansing Complex. I love it because it is heavy-duty and gets the job done. I can go to sleep faster.

iS Clinical Cleansing Complex

My toner.

I’ll use witch hazel if I feel like I really need it, but it’s not part of my every-single-day routine.

My serum

The iS Clinical Advanced Pro-Heal Serum is my baby. I’m realizing now that a lot of my answers have been out of convenience and speed, but I really do think that it is a very convenient serum. It does the trick quickly, and it hasn’t let me down. It keeps my skin clear, keeps the pores tight, and keeps the skin looking fresh.

iS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum

My moisturizer

I have been an avid user of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer. It’s a classic. It has never failed me. When I’m working, I tend to lean on the dry side. It’s like drinking a glass of water. You can find it anywhere, which I really love because I’m always on the move. I often forget to pack certain things, and you can always find Neutrogena products anywhere. I take a huge glob and slather it on my skin.

My eye cream

Right now I’ve been using the La Mer The Eye Concentrate. It’s a product I use that’s luxe, and I really love it. It comes with a little tool where you just take a gob of it and use that cooling tool to put it on your undereyes. I only use a little bit because it absorbs right in. Another great product that I use every day when I’m working is Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels, which are awesome undereye masks. That helps a lot with dark circles. That helps a lot with looking tired.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels

My face mask

Neutrogena is my go-to. Sometimes I’ll use the Talika Bubble Mask Bio-Detox if I feel there’s a lot of toxins that I’m trying to pull from my skin, but mostly I use Neutrogena. Masks feel so luxe and make me feel like a queen, but it really helps my skin.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mask

My spot treatments

The Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. You just spot-treat, and it dries up any breakout that you have. That one is awesome and has not let me down. That’s always with me.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

My face oil

This is a new find that I’ve been only using for the past six months, but Alo came out with skin care. I was shopping in their store, and I’m kind of like a salesperson’s dream. If you tell me something, I’m willing to try it. So I picked up their Glow System Head-to-Toe Glow Oil, which you can also use for your nails, skin, hair, all the things. That’s a great product. I’ve been really loving it.

Alo Glow System Head-to-Toe Glow Oil

My face mist

The Copper Firming Mist from iS Clinical is very hydrating and instantly refreshes the face. Especially if you’ve been on Zoom meetings all day or, in my case, you’ve been in front of lights a ton. It really helps.

My sunscreen

I use Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense. They have a serum that is amazing. I love it because it doesn’t have a white cast, which is important for me. And it smells good. It’s convenient sometimes if I’m really, really lazy, which is usually every day,  so I will use their Invisible Daily Defense Sunscreen Mist.

Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Face Serum

My lip balm

Vaseline. You cannot go wrong. It doesn’t let you down. I have really dry lips. So I just need the heavy-duty stuff on that. A tub will last you forever, and you can find it everywhere.

My tools

I use NuFace a ton. They have that great tool that helps with tightening fine lines, aging, and firming. I gua sha every day. If you stumble upon gua sha videos on social media, it can seem intimidating, but it is well worth learning the ways because it really helps with firming and brightening and tightening. But it’s also a really great face massage that gets you ready for the day. You also feel like you’re taking care of yourself. You deserve the pampering!

Karrie Martin Lachney of ‘Gentefied’ Drops Her Skin-Care Routine https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/karrie-martin-lachney-of-gentefied-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html Tue, 16 Nov 2021 22:07:45 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/karrie-martin-lachney-of-gentefied-drops-her-skin-care-routine.html [ad_1]

If I have makeup on, I use this newfound product that’s more on the luxurious side. It’s a British line called Elemis, the AHA Glow Cleansing Butter; it truly makes your skin glow. I put that on first, and then I go in with the facial foaming cleanser second, just to make sure everything’s clean. It’s not always one-and-done, but this Elemis was introduced to me by my makeup artist from this season. She was big on these, like, nice luxury rich products, because our faces were truly caked at the end of the day. And I’m really big on micellar water, like Garnier or Bioderma. I use it mostly for mascara because it’s always the toughest to come off. I give it the final, final cleanse after I shower.

My serum

In the mornings I use my vitamin C. I use Obagi. It’s like 15% vitamin C. This was introduced to me by my current esthetician. It’s incredible how soft and supple the face feels after using it.

My moisturizers

I combine that serum with the Obagi moisturizer right after. And at night I’ll use either that or the Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream. That’s ultra rich, so if I’m feeling, like, really dry, I’ll add that one because it is a bit thicker.

My SPF

Especially being in New Orleans, where I live, or if I’m in L.A.—wherever you are—I am a huge SPF person. The Image SPF is incredible because it also serves as a moisturizer. So if you don’t have your moisturizer on hand, this is a double and it’s over 50 SPF. That is like my quick go-to morning routine before makeup or before working out, so I don’t sweat it all off.

My toner

I go to Orange Theory for workouts, and you don’t have to wear masks in your vicinity, but you do when you go from station to station. I heard a lot of people starting to talk about maskne, and it’s so true because it’s really in there. I love Cocokind’s Raspberry Vinegar Toner to wipe all of the sweat off after a workout. It’s life-changing. I went from bumpy to completely smooth when I started to incorporate that on a daily basis.

My eye cream

I use the C-Tango by Drunk Elephant. Just recently I had run out and I was like, “Should I try a new one?” And then I was like, “You know what, no, this has been working, so let’s stick to it.” But because it was the first eye cream that I probably ever used, I was like, “Maybe I should try something else,” but I’m going to give it another couple months before I switch to anything else, maybe a little stronger.

My face oil

At night I use the CEO Glow by Sunday Riley because it’s thicker. I feel like it hydrates more. I don’t know if you have skin like this, but I feel like my face just sucks everything in, you know what I mean? I feel like I need extra hydration, so I use that under my moisturizer.

My exfoliants

Elemis has a Papaya Enzyme Peel; it’s like a creamy exfoliator, which I actually used this morning. It’s really thin and you keep it on for a few minutes. Image also has one that’s more grainy, but it’s still soft—it’s not rough. Depending on my needs, I’ll switch between those two when I feel like I need that extra cleanse.

My lip balms

At night I use the Laneige Lip Mask. It is so good and thick. My husband’s like, “Why do you have that gunk on again?” I was like, “I need this!” But Aquaphor is my day-to-day. I’m not too big on lip glosses or things like that. But there is one that my makeup artist showed me—I’m telling you, my makeup artist this season was glorious—the Kosas Wet Lip Oil. It’s a lip gloss, but ultra moisturizing. I put that on first thing every day to give it a glow.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

My masks

I love masks. The Cocokind Clay Mask is really nice because it’s so cold. Every now and then I’ll do their Chlorophyll Mask. It’s more like a green detoxifying facial mask. I wish I did them more often, but I’d be lying to you if I said I did them all the time. Every now and then, when I remember it and I have a second, or when I want to have a spa evening.

My tools

When I was in L.A. earlier this year, I was like, “Everybody’s using these ice rollers—let me try it.” And it did nothing for me. It’s for specific things. I don’t really wake up with much of a puffy face, so that wasn’t doing anything for me. Something I really want to try is the Gua Sha, but I can’t commit to it. I’m an instant-gratification person, but I feel like I could maybe commit to that because it’s also relaxing.

My treatments

As soon as I got back home in August, I signed back up with my esthetician on a monthly basis. It’s been month to month, just for little things, and it’s not always the [treatment]. For example, one month you might do microneedling, while another month you might do dermaplaning. I try to change it up so that my face isn’t being attacked by the same thing every time.
