You may think the deals were done on Cyber Monday, but heavy-hitters like Nordstrom, Amazon, and Net-a-Porter are coming through with a final round of markdowns—which is great news if you’re looking to finally score that elusive wishlist piece, or put a gift card you received to good use.

With so many retailers across fashion, beauty, and home (new vacuum, anyone?) slashing prices on this December day—also known as Boxing Day across the pond— we rounded up all of the best and last deals of 2021 worth shopping. Did we mention the brand’s beloved makeup bag—in a limited-edition holiday style—comes free with every purchase?

How Celebrities Are Celebrating Christmas 2021 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/how-celebrities-are-celebrating-christmas-2021.html Sat, 25 Dec 2021 17:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/how-celebrities-are-celebrating-christmas-2021.html [ad_1]

As ready as we are for this crazy year to end, we are devoted to making the most of Christmas 2021. Look us in the eye and tell us you don’t need a little holiday sparkle! And while the Omicron variant has made big parties an iffy idea at best, many families will be able to have intimate celebrations with vaccines, boosters, and testing. Hey, even Kris Jenner was willing to cancel her big annual holiday bash.

Of course, Hollywood’s A-List still wanted to get into the holiday spirit, and tons of celebrities made the most of the season with gifts, trees, decorations, and seasonal treats. From the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch dropping her first single (who saw that coming?) to Octavia Spencer’s genius idea for making 2022 great, it’s truly been a creative and unexpected X-mas.

Here’s how your favorite celebrities celebrated Christmas 2021:

The Kardashian-Jenners

Kris Jenner reportedly canceled her annual holiday party because of rising Covid numbers, but that didn’t stop the matriarch from partnering up with her daughter Kourtney Kardashian and son-in-law-to-be Travis Barker to record her own version of “Jingle Bells.” Kooky fun!

“Kris will still get her daughters and grandkids together on Christmas Eve, but that’s it,” a source also told TMZ.

On December 24, Kim Kardashian shared some adorable Christmas photos featuring Kris, Khloé Kardashian, Khloé’s 3-year-old daughter True, Rob Kardashian’s 5-year-old daughter Dream, and Kim’s children: 8-year-old North, 6-year-old Saint, 3-year-old Chicago, and 2-year-old Psalm, according to People.

While that part of the Kardashian-Jenner clan was decked out in PJs, Kendall Jenner shared a more glam series of photos, wearing a full-on gown in front of two Christmas trees.

Kate Middleton and Prince William

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a message on Christmas after the Queen canceled the Royal Family’s gathering in Sandringham. “This Christmas will be different to what so many of us had planned,” they wrote in an Instagram post on December 25. “From those who are alone or having to isolate away from loved ones, to the incredible people supporting our NHS and caring for those most in need — we are thinking of you. W & C.”

On December 23rd, the Legally Blonde star called her Big Little Lies co-star Laura Dern to wish her a Merry Christmas and, we assume, co-ordinate Secret Santa for all the Power Ladies of the industry. Except Dern didn’t pick up. Dernit.

Based on a recent Instagram post, it appears Legend and Teigen took the kids to spend the holidays in a very cozy cabin where they’ve been taking some “very cold strolls” and toasting marshmallows.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wished fans a happy holiday by sharing a family photo featuring their 2-year-old son Archie and six-month-old daughter, Lilibet Diana. It was the first image they have shared of their newest addition, who was born in June.

“This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa’, and Lili made us a family,” they wrote underneath the photo taken by Alexi Lubomirski. “As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families – from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave.”

The couple finished their holiday message, writing, “Wishing you a happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year, from our family to yours! As ever, Harry, Meghan, Archie & Lili.”

Netflix’s New Gay Holiday Rom-Com Is the Best Damn Movie I’ve Seen All Year https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/netflixs-new-gay-holiday-rom-com-is-the-best-damn-movie-ive-seen-all-year.html Thu, 02 Dec 2021 18:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/netflixs-new-gay-holiday-rom-com-is-the-best-damn-movie-ive-seen-all-year.html [ad_1]

And that’s an amazing thing. Single All the Way has all the charm, all the tropes, and all the hot chocolate that any run-of-the-mill holiday rom-com has. There just happens to be a gay couple at the center, an interracial gay couple at that. But the movie never makes a thing out of this, which is important. There are no coming-out scenes, no family trauma porn, no homophobia—this a utopian Christmas movie where the biggest problem is convincing Jennifer Coolidge to not steal all the lines in the children’s holiday pageant. Yes, the problems gay couples (particularly interracial ones) face are real and shouldn’t be ignored—but we also deserve a Christmas fantasy. Single All the Way is that, and it does a good job of showing that gay relationships are just as “normal,” just as sweet, just as yuletide ooey-gooey as straight ones.

That being said, this movie is also, gloriously, gay as hell. That’s what makes it so fun. The puns included—”don your gay apparel,” “FOMO-sexual”—are cheeky without ever being cringe-y. At one point Kathy Najimy, with the most serious face, says, “Gay? I know gay,” and I’ll be thinking about that for the next 40 years. Jennifer Coolidge dresses up as Glinda the Good Witch for no discernible reason. The late, great West Hollywood gay bar Flaming Saddles is referenced. (The New York City one is still kicking, FYI, and I highly suggest going if you’re in town.) When Nick walked into Peter’s room and noticed Christmas Carole took down all his Britney Spears posters, my heart fluttered. Behold, pop culture has finally blessed us with a Britney Gay. I’ve never felt more seen.

Slowly but surely the queer holiday movie catalog is building. Last year gave us Happiest Season and The Christmas Setup, and this year Single All the Way joins the party. I can’t wait to watch it every year—gay apparel donned, having full learned the aforementioned “My Only Wish (This Year)” choreo.

Single All the Way is now streaming on Netflix.

25 Acrylic Christmas Nails You’ll Want to Wear All Holiday Long https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/25-acrylic-christmas-nails-youll-want-to-wear-all-holiday-long.html Tue, 23 Nov 2021 16:14:53 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/25-acrylic-christmas-nails-youll-want-to-wear-all-holiday-long.html [ad_1]

Candy cane French tips. Bejeweled sets. If you’re looking for the perfect Christmas acrylic nails, there’s plenty of inspiration to be found.

For those who are ready to jump right in, a metallic red almond set covered with dainty snowflakes, like the ones created by nail artist Andżelika Malik, should be bookmarked ASAP. There’s nothing more Christmas than turning your nails into mini ornaments.

If you’re easing your way into the festivities, then a chic, monochromatic manicure like the one Haiyen Tran beautifully painted is a great middle ground. The neutral design also makes for a perfect compliment to the slew of holiday makeup looks you have in store.

Without a doubt, this holiday season is all about nails. Below, we’ve rounded up the cutest Christmas nails you’ll want to wear all winter long.

A Studded Affair

This nude set is a little glitz, a little edge, and 100% perfect for the most wonderful time of the year. If you’re looking for a little extra surprise, try painting the underside of the nail like Ahn did above. Red bottoms never go out of style.

Glossy Rep Tips

For a Christmas twist on the classic French nail, go for red and play with different finishes. When it comes to finding the right shade of red, there are plenty of options to choose from. Whether you settle on a cinnamony hue or cherry lacquer, the slanted edge of the tips adds dimension, taking this manicure to the next level.

Pink Marble

In case you thought marble was only for summer months, we’re here to let you know this design works 365 days of the year. To give it some holiday flair, nail artist Emma Jane added a layer of glitter and silver snowflakes.

Starry Tips

This supersweet manicure looks good on its own, but even better wrapped around a mug of rich hot chocolate. There’s something nostalgic about seeing the same handpainted stars we saw in our favorite childhood novels.

Minimalist Plaid

So you want a little plaid, but not too much? Pick a couple nails to let the print shine and keep the rest neutral with a bright red polish.

Blinged Out

If full glam is more your vibe, it’s time to go all out. These crystals-and-cherub-adorned nails are giving maximalist holiday chic.

Frosty Finish

Mix up your nail shape with a curve extension. The frosted finish created by the ever-talented Krocaine feels retro yet modern, with airbrushed swirls and butterfly decals.

Candy Cane Delight

What’s more Christmas than candy canes? If you’re not ready for a full set of the sweet treat, select an accent nail, then balance it out with a few white snowflakes spread across the others.

Chic Wreath

You might have seen a gorgeous wreath but never considered putting it on your nails. As it turns out, it makes for a stunning manicure. For a fresh look, play around with parts of the wreath spread across nails, like the look above.

Color-Blocked Claws

This set is a holiday-friendly way to nail the color-blocking trend.

Sculptural Nails

While these nails created by L.A.-based artist Sojin Oh were inspired by Japanese potter Takuro Kuwata, the glowing bulbous shapes bring to mind glossy ornaments. And if you’ve been feeling the mixed-metal trend as of late, why not test it out on your hands?

Crystal Hearts

Dreamy crystal hearts are a timeless no-brainer for the upcoming holiday soirees. While nude is also a good choice, swap the base with a red or emerald green for the most regal holiday set.

Gingerbread Mani

Sure, gingerbread men are delicious to eat, but they also look totally adorbs on your nails. Throw in some pink candy canes and you’ve won Christmas.

Furry Friends

For nail art lovers, Christmas nail inspiration is all around. The big teddy bears that greet us at every mega-mall look equally stunning against blue polish and layered snowflakes.

Baby Blues

We think we’ve found the perfect baby blue. Create dimension by adding a couple crystal gems and lining the cuticle with a strip of gold paint.

Wavy Gems

This wavy set reminds us of the charm bracelets we would add to our wish list around this time of year.

Striped French

Candy cane French tips with a glitter base might sound like a lot, but, as illustrated above, it totally works.

Vintage Glam

These Schiaparelli nails created by Mei Kawajiri are totally glamorous and pair well with a Moscow Mule by the crackling fireside.

Curved French

Who says your French has to go top-down? This flipped manicure is a fun way to mix up your standard Christmas acrylic nails.

Wrapped Up

Yes, we’re always going to love a bow, especially when they’re flawlessly painted by nail artist Stephany Almanzar.

Chrome Orbs

Decals are often used as nail accents, but why not let them take center stage? This 3D look is a guaranteed conversation starter.

Glitter and Gloss

Glossy mauve and rose gold glitter are hands down a winning combo.

Bright Candy Cane

These glossy nails look like the real deal.

Cherry French Swirl

Fun fact, Australians love to share a bowl of fresh cherries as they get together for the holiday season. Aussie nail artist Vivian created a stunning cherry French swirl mani that looks too good not to try out.

Go for Gold

We can’t do a Christmas nails roundup without a gilded mani. This warm metal hue looks just as good wrapped up on a gift box as it does on a nude base.

Kids Christmas movies are as key of an ingredient to holiday magic as cinnamon or eggnog. If your families are anything like ours, Christmas means lots of time bundled up in the living room, sipping hot chocolate, working on a puzzle, and definitely watching new Christmas movies. The 51 Best Christmas Songs to Listen to This Holiday Season https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-51-best-christmas-songs-to-listen-to-this-holiday-season.html Tue, 02 Nov 2021 05:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/the-51-best-christmas-songs-to-listen-to-this-holiday-season.html [ad_1]

And on the song’s origins, she said, “I wrote the beginning and the middle on the keyboard in a little house in Upstate New York, in a room by myself. I just started thinking about all things Christmas and growing up as a kid that loves Christmas. I think that’s why it’s such a festive record. Somebody said the other day, ‘It’s the saddest Christmas song ever, because you’re like, I don’t care about all these things. I just want this other person.’ And I guess that was my thing. I wanted to put a love twist onto a Christmas song, two of my favorite things in the world…. So when I got with [cowriter Walter Afanasieff]…I recently read something he spoke about in, I don’t [know], 2014 or something, where he said when I brought the song to him, he didn’t like the melody and it was very simplistic. And you know what? That is true, because I don’t usually start writing songs on the piano. I’m a terrible piano player, but sometimes the biggest songs for come [from] just sitting down at the piano and messing around. So I brought it to Walter. I had already written most of the song, and we worked on the bridge and produced it together.”

2. “Last Christmas” by Wham! (1986)

I’m partial to the Glee version of this song (don’t judge!), but either way, it’s an earworm.

3. “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande (2014)

You’ll be humming this one for hours. One of the best pop Christmas songs to exist.

4. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee (1958)

I can’t hear this song without thinking of a classic Christmas movie like Home Alone or The Holiday. Talk about one of the ultimate classic Christmas songs.

5. “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas” by Michael Bublé (2011)

Say what you want about Michael Bublé, but he has a voice that transports you to a speakeasy in the 1940s. And that’s exactly the vibe you want in Christmas music.

6. “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms (1970)

Remember when The Plastics danced to this in Mean Girls? History!

7. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams (1963)

This song specifically brings up in my mind the scene in Just Friends where all the Christmas decorations get ruined.

8. “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” by Andy Williams (1965)

But real talk: Please don’t snow. Snow makes everything hard!

9. “Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson (2013)

I need Kelly Clarkson to do a Christmas residency in the post-vaccine world.

10. “Sleigh Ride” by The Ronettes (1963)

Wish I had someone to go on a sleigh ride with, but nope: I’m hopelessly single.

11. “Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano (1970)

It’s not Christmas until my Puerto Rican father drinks three glasses of spiked eggnog and starts singing this.

12. “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Brett Eldredge and Meghan Trainor (2016)

We’re all in agreement that the message of this song is problematic, right?

13. “Holly Jolly Christmas” by Michael Bublé (2011)

I just want to snap my fingers to this song like I’m at a sock hop!

14. “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber (2011)

Awww. baby Biebs!

15. “Wonderful Christmastime” by Paul McCartney (1979)

This song is just deliriously happy.

16. “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow” by Frank Sinatra and B. Swanson Quartet

Again, I’ll listen to songs about snow. But please don’t let it actually snow.

17. “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by Band Aid (1984)

But wait…do they know?

18. “Driving Home for Christmas” by Chris Rea (1989)

Careful! The roads may be icy.

19. “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday” (1973) by Wizzard

Honestly, a relatable song title.

20. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Stevie Mackey, Jennifer Lopez, and The Eleven (2020)

J.Lo on a Christmas song? A serve! A win! A Grammy!

21. “The First Noël” by Faith Hill and Josh Groban (2007)

And while you’re on a Faith Hill kick, listen to her 1999 hit “The Way You Love Me,” one of the best songs on the planet.

22. “Christmas C’mon” by Lindsey Stirling and Becky G (2017)

Have a holly, boppy Christmas.

23. “Merry Christmas Baby” by Otis Redding (1968)

Thanks, Otis! You too!

24. “Take Me Home for Christmas” by Dan + Shay (2020)

Sorry, Dan + Shay. Wish I could, but there’s a pandemic.

25. “Under the Mistletoe” by Kelly Clarkson and Brett Eldredge (2020)

Actually, I have an updated request for my Kelly Clarkson Christmas residency: A joint Kelly Clarkson–Mariah Carey residency!

26. “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” by Pentatonix (2020)

Okay, I stan them and I won’t be judged!

27. “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Idina Menzel and Michael Bublé (2014)

Again, amazing singers. Problematic song. Moving on!

28. “Holidays” (feat. Earth, Wind & Fire) by Meghan Trainor (2020)

Low-key obsessed with Meghan Trainor’s look in this video. I want to be covered in Christmas ornaments!

29. “Mistletoe and Wine” by Cliff Richard (1988)

Honestly, a great combination.

30. “Naughty List” (with Dixie D’Amelio) by Liam Payne (2020)

I guess the TikTok generation deserves a Christmas song too.

31. “Christmas Without You” by Ava Max (2020)

Ava Max is bringing back Christmas pop, and I’m forever grateful.

32. “2000 Miles” by Pretenders (1983)

Follow this up with Vanessa Carlton’s seminal classic “A Thousand Miles.”

33. “My Kind of Present” by Meghan Trainor (2020)

Okay, why do I want to steal all of Meghan Trainor’s holiday looks?! This should be entered into a book of Christmas hymns.

34. “Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas” by Dolly Parton and Michael Bublé (2020)

A Holly Dolly Christmas is the greatest album name of all time, and I won’t be challenged.

35. “Lonely This Christmas” by Mud (1974)

If this title doesn’t reflect the 2021 holiday season, then what does?

36. “Please Come Home for Christmas” by Eagles (1978)

Ooof, another title that feels all too real this year.

37. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Mariah Carey (1994)

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” gets all the shine, but this is a classic too.

38. “Let It Snow” by Tori Kelly and Babyface

No! More! Snow!

39. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love (1963)

Carey’s version of this song may be more popular, but let’s not forget the queen who first gave it life.

40. “I Need You Christmas” by Jonas Brothers (2020)

A JoBros Christmas!

41. “Jingle Bell Rock” by Daryl Hall and John Oates (1983)

So much rocking to jingle bells on this Christmas songs list!

42. “My Only Wish (This Year)” by Britney Spears (2000)

This Britney Spears Christmas song is a sacred text. It’s easily one of the best Christmas songs of all time. Yup!

43. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Sam Smith (2014)

And when you’re done sobbing to Sam Smith, you can dance to their bop “Diamonds.”

44. “Santa Baby” by Ariana Grande and Liz Gillies (2013)

Two Ariana Grande holiday songs on this list but none from her EP, Christmas & Chill? A travesty!

45. “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Perry Como and The Fontane Sisters with Mitchell Ayres & His Orchestra (1951)

The perfect first song of the holiday season!

46. “A Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives (1965)

Give the original a spin after you’ve exhausted Michael Bublé’s version.

47. “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” by Michael Bublé (2011)

Speaking of Bublé, here he is again!

48. “Winter Wonderland” by Tony Bennett (1968)

Fun fact: He rerecorded this song with Lady Gaga in 2014! One of the best Christmas songs ever.

49. “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” by John Lennon and Yoko Ono (1971)

The only Christmas song on this list that doubles as a protest anthem against the Vietnam War.

50. “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)” by Nat King Cole (1946)

Nothing more on point than something literally called “The Christmas Song.”

51. “Santa Baby” by Kylie Minogue (2015)

After this, go stream Minogue’s new album, Disco. Yes, this is shameless promo!

Mariah Carey Once Again Reminds Us That She Is the Christmas Queen https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/mariah-carey-once-again-reminds-us-that-she-is-the-christmas-queen.html Mon, 01 Nov 2021 15:30:00 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/mariah-carey-once-again-reminds-us-that-she-is-the-christmas-queen.html [ad_1]

Halloween has been over for several hours, which means it’s already time for the holiday season! Actually, sorry, that is so rude of me: It is Mariah Carey Szn. Well, almost.

In a video she posted on social media Monday, November 1, the pop star said goodbye to Halloween and hello to her time to rule us all: Christmas. In the video, the Queen of December performs the ritual of smashing a pumpkin to make way for the new holiday. (Question: Did she call The Smashing Pumpkins for approval?) The video opens with a shot of three jack-o’-lanterns carved to say, “IT’S NOT TIME.” Carey, dressed in red glitter from head to toe, goes outside and destroys the middle pumpkin—the one that says “not”—with a massive candy cane while giggling. The bells from the beginning of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” start playing. Then there are shots of Mariah Carey, in a red glittery Santa outfit, holding Christmas things like ornaments, because why not.

The words It’s Time!!! To smash that pumpkin and treat it as pie…cause we still gotta get through Thanksgiving!!! then come up on the screen. You can watch the video here:

Mariah Carey became Christmas royalty when she released her holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” in 1994. Decades later, it is still the most popular Christmas song of all time. It is also one of the most popular songs of all time. Yeah, that includes normal songs that you listen to year-round. In 2019 the song reached Billboard’s Hot 100 for the first time, 25 years after its release.

In 2020, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” reached about one million daily streams on Spotify between November 24 and November 30. We’ll probably do the same this year, honestly. Anyways, Happy Mariah Szn!

13 Cute Fake Trees to Consider This Christmas https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/13-cute-fake-trees-to-consider-this-christmas.html Tue, 12 Oct 2021 17:56:48 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/13-cute-fake-trees-to-consider-this-christmas.html [ad_1]

Whether you’re hosting this year or keeping your gatherings intimate, the best artificial Christmas trees could help make your holiday season breezier. While chopping down a real tree with family might be a longstanding tradition, there are several pros to consider when it comes to going with fake Christmas trees.

For starters, you won’t have to worry about doing heavy lifting, since manmade trees are often available for delivery and tend to be lighter. When you opt for a fake tree, gone are the days of sappy fingers, pine-needle-covered carpets—and the general maintenance that comes along with the traditional holiday houseplant. With plenty of brands offering prelit trees in every shape and color under the sun, they’re a great option for last-minute holiday decor. On top of that, they tend to be more fire-resistant, and you can use them over and over again, which makes them more cost-effective too—just fluff and you’ve got (what feels like) the real thing.

Not sure where to start? We pulled a range of options for every kind of festive aesthetic. From voluminous balsam firs to candy-colored faux trees, shop the 13 best artificial Christmas trees to bring home this year.

Netflix Just Revealed Its Holiday Slate, Including the Release Date for ‘Princess Switch 3’ https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/netflix-just-revealed-its-holiday-slate-including-the-release-date-for-princess-switch-3.html Wed, 06 Oct 2021 19:34:22 +0000 https://www.community-posts.com/lifestyle/netflix-just-revealed-its-holiday-slate-including-the-release-date-for-princess-switch-3.html [ad_1]

Starting literally the day after Halloween, Netflix is shifting right into holiday mode, delivering seasonal content twice a week til the end of the year, and there’s so much to look forward to.

We’re most excited for the third installment of the Princess Switch franchise, in which Vanessa Hudgens plays, at this point, all of the characters? It’s called Romancing the Star, so we can only assume Fiona becomes a pop star or something. Okay, according to Netflix, this is the synopsis: “When a priceless relic is stolen, Queen Margaret (Vanessa Hudgens) and Princess Stacy (Vanessa Hudgens) enlist the help of Margaret’s audacious look-alike cousin Fiona (Vanessa Hudgens) who teams with a dashing, mysterious man from her past to retrieve it… rekindling the sparks of a tantalizing Christmas romance and resulting in a very unexpected switch.” Yeah. we stand by our interpretation.
