Anya Taylor-Joy is still getting used to her status as a Hollywood A-lister. 

The talented actor, who became a household name last year for her performance as Beth Harmon in the popular Netflix mini-series The Queen’s Gambit, spoke about dealing with adoring fans and the paparazzi in a new interview with Tatler.

“Most people are sweet and kind and just want to have a conversation, and I love that,” she said for their October cover. “There are other times when you’re just one person facing off against 20 and that’s just physically not safe. It can be very frightening when there are whole bunches of men with cameras attached to their faces running after you down the street.”

She opened up further about an experience with photographers that left her in tears while she was in New York City for her appearance on Saturday Night Live. “I went home and cried, but then I figured it out,” she told Tatler.  “The next morning I went out and I said, ‘Hello, my name is Anya. Let’s lower down the camera and let’s meet,’ she recalled. “I am not prey. I don’t want to run. I’d rather be like, ‘I understand this is your job and I hope that you can understand that I am a woman of a certain size and I feel intimidated right now, so can we make it work so you can do your job and I can feel less frightened?'” 

This directness is very on-brand for Anya Taylor-Joy, who told Glamour back in 2020 that she feels quite “confident” in sharing her opinions, especially on set. At one point, while shooting The Queen’s Gambit, she spoke up when creators Scott Frank became “worried that [Beth] was getting too glamorous.”

“I was like, ‘It’s in the show that she loves clothes. She can also be a chess champion. They are not mutually exclusive. He was like, ‘Sorry, of course!’ and totally down to go with it,” she told Glamour. “I’ve never been very good at keeping my opinions to myself when it comes to my work, and I’m lucky that people seem to want them.” 

She continued, “Beth is very confident in chess and not that confident in real life, and I definitely feel that in my work. Where I feel most confident in my opinions and what I have to contribute is definitely on set, and then the rest of my life I can get a bit more wavy—but on set I’m like, ‘No, no, no. I know what I’m doing.’” That she does.

Billie Eilish is addressing fans directly after an edited compilation video surfaced of her appearing to say an offensive term used in Tyler the Creator‘s 2011 song, “Fish.” The clip is gaining traction on social media, which prompted Eilish to give her side of the story in an Instagram Story post.

“I love you guys, and many of you have been asking me to address this. And this is something I WANT to address because I’m being labeled something that I am not,” Eilish begins in the post. “There’s a video edit going around of me when I was 13 or 14 where I mouthed a word from a song that at the time I didn’t know was a derogatory term used against members of the Asian community. I am appalled and embarrassed and want to barf that I ever mouthed along to that word.” 

The “Bad Guy” singer continues to explain she was unaware of the word’s meaning and never meant to offend anyone within the Asian community. “This song is the only time I’d ever heard that word as it was never used around me by anyone in my family,” she continued. “Regardless of the ignorance and age at the time, nothing excuses the fact that it was hurtful. And for that I am sorry.”

She then responded to accusations she was mocking foreign accents in the video edit. “The other video in that edited clip is me speaking in a silly gibberish made up voice… something I started doing as a kid and have done my whole life when talking to my pets, friends, and family,” Eilish added. “It is absolutely gibberish and just me goofing around and is in NO way imitation of anyone or any language, accent, or culture in the SLIGHTEST. Anyone who knows me has seen me goofing around with voices my whole life.”

Billie Eilish ended her apology with, “Regardless of how it was interpreted I did not mean for any of my actions to have caused hurt to others and it absolutely breaks my heart that it is being labeled now in a way that might cause pain to people hearing it. I not only believe in, but have always worked hard to use my platform to fight for inclusion, kindness, tolerance, equity and equality. We all need to continue having conversations, listening ,and learning. I hear you and I love you.”

Demi Lovato is living their most authentic life. On May 19, Lovato uploaded a video announcing that they identify as nonbinary and moving forward will use the pronouns they/them. The “Confident” singer revealed their gender identity with the launch of their new podcast, 4D With Demi Lovato, which is produced by OBB Sound. They took to social media to share the news with fans.

“Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity and chance to be who we want and wish to be,” Lovato began the Instagram caption. “I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, and everything in between.”

They continued, “Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras. Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all—I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”

Lovato added, “This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work. I’m still learning and coming into myself, and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way xox.”

Lovato discussed their sexuality in the March issue of Glamour, explaining how they’ve embraced their queer identity. “When I started getting older, I started realizing how queer I really am,” they said, referring to their past engagement to Max Ehlrich: “This past year, I was engaged to a man and when it didn’t work, I was like, ‘This is a huge sign.’ I thought I was going to spend my life with someone. Now that I wasn’t going to, I felt this sense of relief that I could live my truth.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton are honoring their 10th wedding anniversary by blessing us with beautiful new photos. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge look just as in love as they did on their wedding day in these new portraits, taken by Chris Floyd. 

“I recently visited Cambridge for the first time in my life,” Floyd shared about photographing Prince William and Kate Middleton. “That same day, by an astonishing coincidence, was also the day I was asked to photograph the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their 10th wedding anniversary.” 

He continued, “It was a thrill to spend some time with them at Kensington Palace, especially as the Duchess is a rather keen photographer. Happy anniversary!” See the photos here and here. 

The royal couple tied the knot on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey. The televised service was watched by 29 million Americans and aired on 15 channels, Nielsen calculated. To say it was an iconic moment is an understatement. Since their wedding, they’ve welcomed three children: Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, who turns six on Sunday, and Prince Louis, three.

The Duke and Duchess recently took a literal walk down memory lane in March when they visited their wedding venue. The royals visited the COVID-19 vaccination center at Westminster Abbey. Despite living during a pandemic, they’re seemingly still finding special moments to celebrate their relationship.

“There has been a relaxing of the body language rituals of William and Kate recently,” body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail last year. “The Cambridges [have become] much more openly affectionate during their public appearances.”

James continued, “It has appeared to allow William and Kate to relax a little more in public and to show some very authentic-looking glimpses of their relationship, rather than forcing them to put on a fake performance for the cameras.”

Pete Davidson is increasing interest around his rumored relationship with Bridgerton actor Phoebe Dynevor. The Saturday Night Live star recently took part in a Zoom Q&A with Marquette University students and was asked to reveal his celebrity crush. It’s a pretty simple question, right? Most of us would name our favorite singer or actor, but Davidson was coy with his answer.

“I’m with my celebrity crush,” Davidson answered with a smile. He continued, “That is all I can speak on.” So, is this a confirmation he and Dynevor are dating? Rumors have been circulating about the alleged couple since the celebrity blind-item Instagram, Deux Moi, posted about them last month.

Then, Page Six published a story explaining that Pete Davidson and Phoebe Dynevor are believed to be “spending time” together in New York City and England. (Dynevor was in New York City last month, where Davidson films SNL.) Page Six reports Davidson was also photographed in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, where Dynevor has apparently been living with her mother.

According to Us Weekly, they were also spotted in Caverswall, England, later in March. “It looked like they were in a relationship and they seemed happy together,” a source said. “We saw them holding hands and hugging each other.”

Neither Davidson nor Dynevor has publicly admitted to being in a relationship. However, an insider told Us Weekly they’re “seeing where their relationship goes” and “trying to make long distance work.”

The source added, “They’re happy with each other. He makes her laugh. Pete is a good guy and definitely a charmer. He’s easy-going and fun to be around.”

Khloé Kardashian is responding to that unedited photo of herself in a bikini that went viral a few days ago. The pic was a stark contrast to the filtered, more glammed-up shots we see of her, and because of that it garnered a ton of attention from fans. It turns out the photo had been shared to Instagram accidentally by an assistant, and despite fans loving it, Kardashian and her team wanted it off the internet. 

On Wednesday, April 7, Kardashian issued a response, sharing videos and a statement to Instagram. “PS Yes I did a live to show you all this isn’t photoshopped,” she wrote in a caption.

“Hey guys, this is me and my body un-retouched and unfiltered,” she wrote in an accompanying slide. “The photo that was posted this week was beautiful. But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering, in bad lighting, or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working [too] hard to get it to this point – and then shares it to the world – you should have every right to ask for it not to be shared – no matter who you are.”

Kardashian continued, “In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule, and judgment my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear. ‘Khloé is the fat sister.’ ‘Khloé is the ugly sister.’ ‘Her dad must not be her real dad because she looks so different.’ ‘The only way she could have lost that weight must have been from surgery.'”

Kardashian’s family and celebrity friends flooded her comments with support. Ariana Grande wrote, “love u & your heart.” Kendall Jenner added, “yes! you beautiful, strong, HEALTHY queen.”

Khloé Kardashian continued in her post, “My body, my image, and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice. It’s not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable anymore.”

Britney Spears is speaking out about how she feels since the Framing Britney Spears documentary was released. She seemingly addressed the New York Times doc last month but is now directly explaining how it’s affected her. 

“My life has always been very speculated … watched … and judged really my whole life !!! For my sanity I need to dance to @iamstevent every night of my life ?????? to feel wild and human and alive !!! I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people  ??? !!!” she captioned an Instagram video of herself dancing on March 30. “It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged… insulted… and embarrassed by the media… and I still am till this day ?????? !!!!” 

Even though Framing Britney received overwhelmingly support from fellow celebrities and fans alike, Spears says she was “embarrassed” by it.

She continued, “As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people !!! I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in … I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!! I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness ?? !!!! Every day dancing brings me joy !!! I’m not here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness ??? !!!!”

In February, Spears posted a series of tweets that seemed to be about the doc. “Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories !!!! We all have so many different bright beautiful lives,” she wrote. “Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt is speaking out about the “gross” encounters she had with journalists while doing press for her 2001 film, Heartbreakers. At the time, Hewitt was in her early 20s, and she explained in a recent Vulture interview how the focus of so many interviews revolved around her body. 

“It’s interesting, I just watched the Britney Spears documentary [Framing Britney Spears], and there’s that whole section in there, talking about her breasts. At the time that I was going through it, and interviewers were asking what now would be incredibly inappropriate, gross things, it didn’t feel that way,” Hewitt said. “I mean, I was in barely any clothing the whole movie. For some reason, in my brain, I was able to just go, ‘Okay, well, I guess they wouldn’t be asking if it was inappropriate.'”

Hewitt started being asked these gross questions after filming the 1997 movie, I Know What You Did Last Summer. “That was the first time that I had worn a low top, and on Party of Five, my body was very covered,” she told Vulture. “At a press junket for I Know or I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, I remember purposely wearing a T-shirt that said ‘Silicone Free’ on it because I was so annoyed, and I knew something about boobs was gonna be the first question out of [reporters’] mouths. I was really tired of that conversation.”

Now as a mom of two, she sees how wrong the media’s focus was on her body. “I had really worked hard in that movie [Heartbreakers] to do a good job as an actress,” Hewitt admitted. “So I remember one specific moment wishing that the acting had overshadowed all that—that for five minutes, they had said I was really great in the movie versus made a body comment.”

She added, “I think, ‘Gosh, I wish that I had known how inappropriate that was so I could have defended myself somehow or just not answered those questions.’ I laughed it off a lot of the time, and I wish maybe I hadn’t.”

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are pop-music royalty, but behind closed doors, they’re just like you and your best friend. Most of us can relate to missing our friends during quarantine—including Gomez. On March 22 she posted a few rare selfies of herself and Swift (and Swift’s cat, Mr. Benjamin Button) and wrote in the caption, “Kinda missin this one.” The post already has more than 8 million likes and 66,000 comments, a testament to their joint fandom. Wild, I know.

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez’s friendship began in 2008, when they were dating two brothers you may have heard of. “We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical,” Gomez said in a 2017 interview with KIIS-FM U.K. She was dating Nick Jonas at the time, while Swift was with Joe Jonas. 

She continued, “It was amazing, because she was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked. It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”

Since both Gomez and Swift are singers, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they would record a song together. Actually, it’s kind of shocking that they haven’t already. “I’ve always dreamed of doing a song with Taylor,” Gomez said last year during a guest appearance on the virtual late-night talk show Animal Talking With Gary Whitta, according to Elle.

She continued, “We both wanted to do that…. We’ve talked about it, for sure. It just feels like we’re family. I’ve known her for 13, 14 years now.”

Swift’s already released Folklore and Evermore during quarantine. Plus, she’s rereleasing her 2008 album, Fearless, with new songs. Maybe she’ll surprise us with a Gomez collab too. A fan can dream, right?
