Two days after the breakup that shook the internet, new reports are surfacing about who called things off between Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello…and why.

On November 17, the former couple released joint statements on Instagram Stories announcing their split after two years. “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever,” they said, per E! News. “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”

While this came as a shock to many of their fans, sources told People that the relationship simply ran its course. “It just wasn’t a relationship that can move forward at this point,” the source said. “It seems the romance just fizzled.”

But who realized it first? A source speaking to E! suggested that Shawn Mendes “initiated the conversation.” While Cabello was reportedly “very upset over the split,” the source revealed that she ultimately “agreed” it was for the best.

“It was really hard for a few days but she has been spending a lot of time with friends and keeping busy,” the source said. “She has a huge support system and is feeling renewed now.” According to the source, the pair are “still in communication and want to be friends.” The source told E! that it “was not a bad breakup at all.”

The source also echoed what had been told to People, adding, “The relationship was getting stale and complacent and they decided they are better off being friends.”

If there’s one thing the former couple share, it’s open communication. In Glamour’s October 2021 global cover story, Cabello said, “For better, for worse, we’re very transparent with each other. I think that’s why we can trust each other so much because it’s a very 3D human relationship.”

The Hills might not have been real, but its star, Kristin Cavallari, just got very real about her divorce from Jay Cutler.

On the Off the Vine podcast released Tuesday, October 19, Cavallari told host and former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe about the end of her 10-year relationship to the NFL star.

She said her split from Cutler was the “brightest and saddest” time of her life. Cavallari also revealed she and Cutler tried going on a few dates post-split to see if the relationship could work again.

“There’s been times over the last 18 months where I’m like, ‘Is this the right decision?’” Cavallari said, according to People. “Jay [and] I actually went on a couple of dates, like months and months and months ago. But we did! But then I was like…. It’s not there for me anymore.”

Cavallari added, “I just decided I didn’t want to be in a toxic relationship anymore and I had to break it off. But that’s made it hard and made me sit here and question it for a few months. But then going back and dating him a little bit made me reaffirm it, like, ‘No, I know that I’m doing the right decision.’”

Cavallari also told Bristowe her experience as a child of divorce informed her decision. “I don’t want my kids growing up thinking that this is a good relationship because I got to see my mom [get] remarried and in a good relationship, so I knew what one was,” she said, adding that if she didn’t share children with Cutler, she would “never talk to him again.”

Cavallari previously opened up to Grazia magazine about motherhood and coparenting. “I only have my kids half the time now. I have them every other week,” she said. “…I have just decided that the week I have my kids, I’m mom. I’m not doing anything else. I have a week off where I can go to dinner every night with my friends if I want to. I can work really hard if I need to. I can stay at the office later if I need to. But when I have my kids, I’m not doing anything else.”

Ben Affleck has reportedly been spending time with his famous ex-fiancée, Jennifer Lopez, who recently split from her own former fiancé, Alex Rodriguez. The timing led many to speculate about whether or not the two were getting back together. But no, they’re just really close friends, according to insiders.

“They have a great time hanging out,” a source told People, adding, “It’s been years since they caught up properly. They have lots to talk about.” The source also said that “they plan on hanging out again.” As for how they’ve managed to keep these hangs hush-hush, a source told Page Six, “Security picks him up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house.”

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez split in 2004, and a lot has happened since then. But the two have, apparently, remained on good terms—consistently. As another source told People, “They have always been friends and they have seen each other through the years.”

Affleck drew on this friendship when praising Lopez in a recent issue of InStyle. “I thought I had a good work ethic, but I was completely humbled and blown away by what she was committed to doing day in and day out, the seriousness in which she took her work, the quiet and dedicated way she went about accomplishing her goals, and then how she would go back and redouble her efforts,” he said. “She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business. She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I’m so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves.”

Chrissy Teigen is opening up about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce. 

If you’re unfamiliar, Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage. West then filed a response earlier this month, asking for joint legal and physical custody of their four kids: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. 

Those close to the family, like Teigen, say Kardashian is handling the split well. “Kim is doing okay. I know Kim gave her all for everything,” the Cravings author revealed during a virtual appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “It’s honestly a shame that it didn’t work out because I saw them being a forever relationship.”

She added, “I really did, but I know she tried her best.” Before her marriage to the “All of the Lights” rapper, Kardashian was also married to Damon Thompson from 2000 to 2004 and then Kris Humphries from 2011 to 2013.

A fan dialed into WWHL to ask Chrissy Teigen about her husband John Legend’s friendship with Kanye West. “I will say I have definitely been in touch with Kim more than John has been in touch with Kanye,” she admitted. “If anyone knows Kanye, it’s that he goes off the grid and it’s hard to ever contact him.”

On January 5, news outlets, including Page Six, Us Weekly, People, E!, and TMZ, reported that the couple was getting close to divorce. They’d reportedly been living separate lives and keeping their divorce plans under wraps.

“They are keeping it low-key, but they are done,” a source told Page Six, the first outlet to report the news. “Kim has hired [divorce lawyer] Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks.” The insider added that “Kim got Kanye to go up there [to Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done.”
