After she finally got out of the conservatorship that governed her life for over a decade, Britney Spears’s next move could be…anything. In previous interviews and statements, she’s been pretty clear about wanting to take a break from the music industry and about her hopes for expanding her family with her fiancé, Sam Asghari. But is new music totally out of the question?

Taking to her preferred medium, Instagram, Spears posted a short video of herself in a studio, dancing to her song “Get Naked (I Got a Plan)” from her album Blackout. She’s not actually naked, wearing a pink Sydney Sweeney–esque bodysuit and black heels, but she just might have a plan.

“This is 13 seconds of me in heels ? before I dyed my hair purple ?,” she wrote in the caption, pointing out that the video was recorded before her latest hair transformation. “This is a tease ? of what’s to come !!!! My song ‘Get Naked’ ? !!! Hope you guys are having a great day !!!!! Pss No hair and make up ? !!! Just PLAYING around folks !!!!” 

The comments lit up with speculation that she could be releasing another album. “Blackoutney 2.0 confirmed!!! ???,” one fan replied, receiving over 4,000 likes. Another comment with more than 5,000 thousand reads, “BLACKOUT 2.0 COMING.” Some called for rereleases, some for new music, some for a tour. Her celebrity friends mostly chimed in with emojis and enthusiasm, like Paris Hilton, who wrote, “So hot!!! ???????,” and Heidi Montag, who added, “Get it Brit!??.”

Despite the overwhelming response to her post, Spears did not elaborate or clarify “what’s to come.” Instead she went back to posting her usual fare: pretty pink stuff that makes her happy. In her very next upload, she shared a video of flowers, writing, “Wonder what’s inside a flower ? or is it honestly about looks for men ????” 

Honestly, we’re waiting for an update with bated breath. But no matter what Spears’s next move may be, we hope it’s whatever the hell she wants.

Britney Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears appear to be calling a truce…kind of. 

Following a series of public callouts over her sister’s controversial memoir, Things I Should Have Said, Britney shared an impassioned plea with Jamie Lynn on social media. “Jamie Lynn… I don’t think your book is about me at all… I said some harsh things because you obviously hurt me by the things you are making up about me!!!” Britney began the lengthy Twitter note on January 15. 

Britney, of course, seems to be referring to at least one passage in Jamie Lynn’s memoir that accuses the singer of locking them in a room while brandishing a knife. On January 14, Britney refuted those claims wholeheartedly, writing “only a scum person would make up such things about someone.”

Now, Britney says her point is that Jamie Lynn is not a “scum person,” which is what makes the situation so hurtful and confusing. “But it doesn’t make sense at all to me what you are saying!!! I know you worked hard for the life you have and you have done amazing!!!!” Britney continued. “But I think we would both have to agree to the fact that the family has never been remotely as hard on you as they have been on me!!! What Dad did to me, they don’t even do that to criminals… so for you to sit back and act completely aloof to what has happened to me is honestly insane to me!!!”

She added, “Do you know anybody who worked as hard as I did and the hours I put in during those 13 years only to be sent away for 4 months for no reason at all??? And I won’t even mention what was done to me in that place!!!” 

“All I know is I love you unconditionally!!!” Britney Spears continued. “So go ahead and say whatever you want… it’s so tacky for a family to fight publicly like this!!! You say you love me… yet your loyalty is still with the people that hurt me the most!!!”

Britney concluded her message by telling Jamie Lynn to “say whatever” she wants. “I don’t care anymore!!! Say whatever you want to say just know I do know your real heart more than anyone!!! It’s your life and you deserve a beautiful life,” she wrote. “I wish I would be able to do what you’re doing and do interviews!!! I’m scared of all of it… I admire you for being strong… just know I love you and I think you know that already more than anything!!!”

According to People, Jamie Lynn responded to the message on Instagram Stories by asking her older sister to talk to her privately. “Britney- Just call me, I have attempted many times to speak to you directly and handle this privately like sisters should, but you still choose to do everything on a public platform,” Jamie Lynn wrote. “In the meantime, please stop continuing the narrative that I haven’t been there for you or that I’m making things up. I’m happy to share how many times I’ve reached out to you, supported you and tried to help you. This is embarrassing and has to stop. I love you.”

While Britney Spears has already spoken out against her sister Jamie Lynn’s new book, Things I Should Have Said, the singer just slammed one passage in particular. 

In the memoir, Jamie Lynn Spears—who has been talking a lot about Britney during the press tour for a book that is supposedly “not about” her sister—accused Britney of locking her in a room while holding a knife. Jamie Lynn told ABC News about the incident on January 12, describing Britney’s behavior as “erratic, paranoid, and spiraling,” per The Daily Beast.

When host Juju Chang followed up the story by asking why she chose to discuss the event, Jamie Lynn replied, “It’s important to remember that I was a kid in that moment. I was scared. That was an experience I had, but I also was fearful to, like, really say anything because I didn’t want to upset anybody but also was so upset that she didn’t feel safe.”

Well, now Britney Spears has something to say about the incident, which she claims never happened. “Jamie Lynn…congrats babe. You’ve stooped to a whole new LOW,” she wrote in a note posted to Twitter on January 14. “I’ve never been around you ever with a knife or would I ever even think to do such!!! The only knife I ever saw you with at home was cutting the biggest piece of squash I ever saw in my life and it was way too big for me to cut…so please stop with these crazy lies for the Hollywood books.”

Britney Spears went on to describe Jamie Lynn as a “scum person” and admit she doesn’t feel like this behavior is typical of her sister. “Now and only now I do know only a scum person would make up such things about someone,” she continued. “I’m actually very confused about you making that up. Because it’s honestly not like you at all!!!! Around the kids???? Jamie Lynn, seriously??? Come on!!! Congrats on introducing your older sister [to the] concept of getting LOW…LOWER…LOWEST…because you win on that one, babe!!!!”

Britney Spears, newly freed from her conservatorship, has been quick to use social media as a means of calling out her family on how she’s been treated. Apparently, Spears is not a fan of her sister Jamie Lynn’s new memoir, Things I Should Have Said, nor her promotional interviews.

On Thursday, January 13, Spears called out Jamie Lynn in a lengthy Twitter post, after Jamie Lynn’s Wednesday Good Morning America interview, in which she discussed their relationship. The singer wrote that she watched the interview with a fever of 104°F, and that “it was actually kind of nice having a fever so high cause I had to surrender to not caring.”

“The 2 things that did bother me that my sister said was how my behavior was out of control,” Britney Spears wrote in a Twitter thread. “She was never around me much 15 years ago at that time …. so why are they even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense??? REALLY???”

Spears’s airing of grievances continued, “Then where the lady mentioned why did she accuse you of doing remixes to her songs … I know it may sound like a silly thing to most people but I wrote a lot of my songs and my sister was the baby. She never had to work for anything. Everything was always given to her!!!”

It’s not the first time Spears has called out her sister on social media, but this time Jamie Lynn responded. She wrote an Instagram post of her own, responding to Britney’s claims: “Quite frankly, these things that are being said are absolutely not the truth.” She mentioned it was getting too hard to explain the death threats her family is receiving to her kids, hence why she’s breaking her silence on the matter. 

“Brit, I am always here, you know behind the scenes I have always been here,” Jamie Lynn wrote in her post. “It’s become exhausting when conversations, and texts we have in private don’t match what you post on social media. I know you’re going through a lot and I never want to diminish that, but I also can’t diminish myself.”

JLS continued, “That being said, I hate to burst my sister’s bubble, but my book is not about her. I can’t help that I was born a Spears too, and that some of my experiences involve my sister. I’ve worked hard since before I was even a teenager, and I’ve built my career in spite of just being someone’s little sister. There are no sides, and I don’t want drama, but I’m speaking my truth to heal my traumas, so I can close this chapter and move forward, and I wish my sister could do the same. No matter what comes, I will always love my big sister, and be here for her. It’s time to put an end to the unhealthy chaos that has controlled my life for so long.”

Jamie Lynn Spears opened up about her supposed falling out with big sister Britney Spears in a new interview with ABC News. In the interview, Jamie Lynn discusses her new book, Things I Should Have Said, out January 18, which includes a story about a fight she allegedly had with Britney in 2020.  

Since Britney’s 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021, the pop star has been outspoken about her anger towards her family, including her younger sister, Jamie Lynn. According to ABC News, Jamie Lynn Spears writes in her upcoming book that her relationship with Britney “came to a head” during the pandemic in 2020. In the book, she writes that “Britney came at me screaming and getting up in my face” while Jamie Lynn was holding her toddler, Ivy.

“She cursed at me and so I just walked out of the room and was like, ‘We’re just all one family under one roof, I’m not trying to argue,” Jamie Lynn told ABC News about the alleged fight described in the book. “When I tried to remove myself from the situation, that’s, uh . . . when I guess she got really angry. And my oldest daughter tried to, you know, mediate the situation and I hated that. Like, that’s not what you’re supposed to do, you’re 12.”

Jamie Lynn told ABC News that her parents reverted to “unhealthy patterns” following the alleged incident: “They told me that I shouldn’t be upset, that I can’t upset Britney. I said, ‘You just saw me and my children be upset. When will I matter?’”

Despite the tension between the sisters, who are 10 years apart, Jamie Lynn says that she still loves her sister. “That love is still there, 100 percent,” she said. “I love my sister. I’ve only ever loved and supported her and done what’s right by her and she knows that, so I don’t know why we’re in this position right now.”

Jamie Lynn Spears opened up about her supposed rift with big sister Britney in a new interview with ABC News on Wednesday, January 12. 

For the unfamiliar, since Britney’s 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021, she’s been outspoken about her anger towards her family, including Jamie Lynn. Britney hasn’t given many specifics, but the consensus from her Instagram posts is she feels her family didn’t do enough to help dissolve the legal situation that gave her no control over her life and finances. 

At one point it was reported Jamie Lynn Spears was in charge of a trust for Britney’s young sons. The former Zoey 101 star opened up about that plus more in this tearful six-minute interview. “For me, it created a lot of anxiety. The hardest part was, ‘Could I trust you? Are you drinking? Are you not?’ It was something no kid should have to question.”

On her relationship to Britney: 

“I felt like she was another mama…. That love is still there, 100 percent. I love my sister. I’ve only ever loved and supported her and done what’s right by her. And she knows that. So I don’t know why we’re in this position right now.”

On Britney’s current state of mind (words Jamie Lynn uses in her new book to describe Britney’s behavior over the course of her life are erratic, paranoid, and spiraling): 

“I can’t really speak to anyone else’s state of mind. I don’t think that’s fair. But I’m allowed to say how I felt in those [moments], because that matters. It matters that I was in pain.”

How Jamie Lynn felt when Britney’s conservatorship ended: 

“I was happy. First off, I don’t understand—when it was put into place, I was a 17-year-old about to have a baby, so I didn’t understand what was happening nor was I focused on that. I was focused on the fact that I was a 17-year-old about to have a baby. I understand just as little about it then as I do now.”

On the role Jamie Lynn played in the conservatorship:

“There was a time where my sister asked me of her trust and will if I would be the person who was sure her boys got what they needed. Whether she’s in a conservatorship or not, that was a very normal thing, I thought. Once I realized, You know what? She’s in a conservatorship. I felt like I didn’t want to be a part of [her trust] until she was out of the conservatorship. There was no me overseeing funds or something like that. And if that was, then it was a misunderstanding. But either way, I took no steps to be a part of it.”

On how she helped Britney end her conservatorship: 

“I’ve always been my sister’s biggest supporter, so when she needed help, I set up ways to do so. I went out of my way to make sure she had the contacts she needed to possibly go ahead and end this conservatorship and end this all for our family—if it’s gonna cause this much discord, why continue it?

“…It wasn’t about agreeing with the conservatorship. Everyone has a voice, and it should be heard.  If she wanted to talk to other people, then I did, I set that up. I even spoke to her legal team,  her previous legal team. And that did not end well in my favor. I did take the steps to help, but how many times can I take the steps without—she has to walk through the door.”

On Jamie Lynn’s tribute to Britney at the 2017 Radio Disney Awards that upset Britney: 

“Honestly, it was somewhat confusing to me about that. Actually, I have spoken to her about that. I was doing a tribute to honor my sister and all the amazing things that she’s done…. I’ve cleared up with the fact that I don’t think she’s personally upset with me about that. Truthfully, I don’t know why that bothers her.”

What time is it? Well, pop queen Britney Spears said it’s “booty time.”

In an Instagram post from Sunday, January 9, Britney Spears shared photos of herself from the back wearing a cute red thong–and absolutely nothing else (except heels, of course). In the carousel, Spears posted three different photos of herself in the thong, followed by an image of white gloves and a rose. For the caption, she simply wrote, “Booty time -???.”

Spears’s 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021. Since then, she’s gotten more candid about her situation. In late December 2021, she opened up about her family and her relationship to making music now: “People have no idea the awful things that were done to me personally…and after what I’ve been through, I’m scared of people and the business!!!! They really hurt me!!!!!! Not doing my music anymore is my way of saying ‘Fuck You’ in a sense when it only actually benefits my family by ignoring my real work…it’s like I’ve subconsciously let them win.”

She’s still enjoying music, though. Recently she’s been dancing to tracks from Madonna’s Music album, just one of many things she’s calling an “indulgence.” “I’m sure it looks weird me dancing to @madonna  so much ??‍??‍??‍…” she wrote. “I see it … it’s like I’m not trying as much like I’m INDULGING ? ….. well thats exactly what her music does to me ? !!! The pop icon, who loves a topless selfie, took to Instagram on Thursday, January 6, to post her most revealing photo yet. Spoiler alert: She’s fully naked—with emoji covering certain areas—and loving it.

It’s unclear what the year ahead has in store for Spears. In a since deleted caption, she mentioned there is a “new song” in the works, though details around that are vague. Regardless, I think I speak for everyone when I say Britney Spears should have a year doing…whatever the hell she wants. 

Britney Spears is continuing to speak her truth following the end of her 13-year conservatorship. In a lengthy Instagram post shared on December 27, the singer shared an extremely personal message to fans about her family, her faith, her feelings about the music industry, and her insecurities. 

On the matter of her family, Britney—who has opened up about her treatment by her father Jamie Spears, her mother Lynne Spears, and her sister Jamie Lynn Spears in the recent past—reiterated how “hurt” she still feels by their actions. Even after being removed from his daughter’s conservatorship, Jamie has petitioned for Britney to pay his legal fees. “I had an experience three years ago where I stopped believing in God,” Britney wrote in the sixth slide of the post. “From every angle, I was being hurt for no reason and my family was hurting me…I went into a state of shock and the way I coped was being fake denial…it was too much to really face. It then came full circle and my heart took over and I was a lion.”

The “Baby One More Time” singer further opened up about why she originally felt she should stop making music—and hinted that she may choose to start again. Britney says she “asked for 13 years to perform new music” and remixes of her own catalog, but was refused by those who were in control. “I knew exactly what I wanted my fans to see and it didn’t make sense how network television shows are showcasing my music with remixes of all my music…yet the person who owns the music is told no,” Britney wrote. “They even gave remixes to my sister but why was I always told no?”

Britney’s solution was to remove herself from the industry altogether. “So much wasted time to only embarrass me and humiliate me and I guess it seems odd to most now why I don’t even do my music anymore,” she wrote, adding, “People have no idea the awful things that were done to me personally…and after what I’ve been through, I’m scared of people and the business!!!! They really hurt me!!!!!! Not doing my music anymore is my way of saying ”Fuck You” in a sense when it only actually benefits my family by ignoring my real work…it’s like I’ve subconsciously let them win.” 

Now, Britney Spears wants to move forward. “Last year was growth for me…I still have a ways to go,” Briteny wrote in slide seven. “My goal for this year is to push myself a bit more and do things that scare me but not too much I mean geez!!!! We are just people and I am not superwoman. But I do know what makes me happy and brings me joy and I try to meditate on those places and thoughts that enable me to experience it!!!!!”

For ‘90s Week on The Voice, judge Ariana Grande decided to channel the princess of the ’90s: Britney Spears. 

For her look, the “7 Rings” singer wore a strapless baby pink crop top paired with white pants and white platform heels. Baby pink swatches covered the knees on Grande’s pants, and for her hair, she opted for a slick ponytail. 

The look is a modern recreation of one of Spears’s most iconic ’90s concert outfits. See the resemblance? 

This isn’t the first time this year Ariana Grande’s paid tribute to Britney Spears. In a clip for That’s My Jam, Jimmy Fallon’s new music variety game show, Grande sang a bit of “Oops!…I Did It Again” and even did some of the famous hands-on-heart choreography. Legends supporting legends. 

It has, of course, been a tremendous year for Spears, who was freed from her 13-year conservatorship on November 12. Grande was a vocal supporter of Spears during this process, writing on her Instagram in July, “You are so very loved and supported.”

“I’ve been in the conservatorship for 13 years,” Spears said in an Instagram video posted November 16 (which has since been deleted). “It’s a really long time to be in a situation you don’t want to be in. I’m just grateful, honestly, for each day, and being able to have the keys to my car, being able to be independent and feel like a woman, owning an ATM card and seeing cash for the first time, being able to buy candles. It’s the little things for us women, but it makes a huge difference. I’m grateful for that. It’s nice. It’s really nice.”

She continued, “But I’m not here to be a victim. I lived with victims my whole life as a child. That’s why I got out of my house and I worked for 20 years and worked my ass off.”
